Big Mama Thornton was a very prolific songwriter. You might as well react to her version of Hound Dog since you did Elvis’s cover🙏🏾 😊

She was fantastic and a huge influence on Elvis Presley for sure. You can see so much of her in him and not just her of course, that whole world of older gospel Blues just old school stuff. If you can, try to find some of her early stuff, typically in black and white.

Find some local LIVE Blues seen and enjoy the real thing . Momma is gone but there are countless new ,young and some ancient blues singers and players still tearing up the audience.

I really wish that more black youth who won and claim to know more about the roots of black history would listen more to the blues and American Roots music. I understand that hip-hop and rap are the contemporary modern day pieces that people do listen to but they should also be an appreciation because by not listening to people like big mama Thornton and the blues, it serves as an injustice for the people who live this hardship

Hello You Both ♥ First I am a white man and a Musician and because of what ever was Wrong with the industry many people never heard this song on their radio and never heard of Big Mama Thornton, Except For Guys Like Me!! I'm 64 years old and many Musicians like me know her and her songs that Lieber and Stoller payed only $500 to give it to Elvis, which made millions for the managers with this song, you will need to check, but before her death in 1984 I'm not sure how much, if any, money she received for this song 😡Either way she should have gotten much much more than $500 for Hound Dog? Let me say "I'm Sorry to her family". The Music Business is full of Thieves 🙏For Willie Mae🙏

Explain why black folks do rap when they can listen to this, the music they created, the blues? Please react to "Something Inside Me" by Elmore James, thank you, love you guys.

She along with Sister Rosetta Tharpe are the Mothers of Rock, yet today Rock is not associated with Blackness due to the system of white supremacy, cultural appropriation and white washing. Tina Turner and Tracy Chapman are the only Black women you here in Rock in today's Pop Culture which is very sad considering that a Black woman created Rock music 😑😑😑😑😑😑

This sounds like the Blues and I've listen to a lot of Tracy Chapman and she also sounds like the blues.. Not so much rock n roll.

Hey bro, give us a break. I'm 76 years old and I grew up with Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, not to forget Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet. Where do you come up with this BS? BTW, anybody who knows anything knows that musicians of all stripes have been ripped off by the sharks in the music biz, please keep it real. Back in 1970 you couldn't pay black people to listen to the blues, white musicians saved the blues from extinction. And as for "cultural appropriation", all musicians steal sounds from each other, how do you think we learn how to play???
