"Sleeping Sun" is a power ballad and the fourth single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. It was released as a maxi single with three other songs on 2 August 1999 to coincide with the total solar eclipse that would occur on 11 August.

One of the early Songs, (1998/1999 Tarja era), it is about the solar eclips in Finland(and other European countrys) on 11 of August 1999,,, **** 222 days of light **** is from 1/1/1999 up to the eclips. At that time their german record Label asked to write a song about it. One of the terms was " not longer than 3 minutes", Knowing Tuomas, he made it 4+,

Honestly, I resisted listening to this version for a while because I love the original way too much. Floors performance was amazing, as usual. I still like Tarjas version better, Floor is after all a mortal even though it's getting harder to prove.

I love them both...Tarja has such a beautiful, operatic voice. I have quite a few of her Nightwish songs on my Spotify list, including one of my favorite songs, "Walking In The Air".... She just is amazing in this song! And as a huge fan of " Lord of The Rings" and "The Hobbit " the Music video of this song is spectacular! One thing I have learned from listening to Nightwish is that the evolution of the band should be celebrated! Nightwish is spectacular... with all the lead vocalist!
