Hi. No guys, Suga has never been an addict nor has he ever overdosed. In the music video, Suga can be seen swallowing almonds at various points, as an effort to not get caught up in traumatic memories ; they also represent the pills he took for his shoulder pain. The accident he is referring to is a motorcycle accident, which he did not talk about for fear of being kicked out of the group. He suffered for many years from severe pain with each choreography; doctors even gave him injections so he could perform the choreographies, until finally in 2020 he underwent surgery.

The almonds are the shape of the amygdala. Did you look up that it's the part of the brain that handles trauma?
@Nilaratna2 ай бұрын
Thanks for clarifying that for everyone. Just adding a bit to that: he's eating almonds because that's the shape of the amygdala (structure) in the brain, and he's indifferent to pain and fear while eating it because those without a functioning amygdala are unable to feel fear or emotions in general. RM (Suga too?) has also recommended a Korean novel called 'Almond' whose main character is a young boy who doesn't have a normally functioning amygdala and he doesn't feel fear the way most people do (even when witnessing a violent death). All this to say: everything is so well thought out in their music videos and concepts.

@issa8113 I can't take it anymore lol too many youtubers react to bts because it brings in the likes, etc not because they actually want to know about the group or the message they put out with their music it's starting to annoy me. They don't look at behind the scenes or interviews as to why, etc. I watch a handful of creators who react to BTS, and they go above and beyond to do research about them, and they are not Army. As for Josh kim, if he is that tired, don't be a part of the video. I find it disrespectful.

Truth. Do your research guys!!! Don't guess. Don't disrespect Suga! There is a song on Suga's "D-Day" album that lyrically tells the true story of his friend dying from drugs. On his last day of his concert he mainly boohoos through the whole song. So Army sings for him when he can't. Not kidding. It's his last concert on his tour. In Seoul. A concert date to include more people who hadn't seen his historic concert run. His family was there. BTS was there. And I boohooed along with all of them. Even his backstage crew and staff were crying. So was his band. Stop guessing. Especially when you have no clue about Suga's past. Please respect him and what he has survived. He now is mentally sound. Emotionally content. And spiritually filled. Sharing his traumatic survival with all. If any BTS were on drugs they would be fired. They adhere to a strict moral and legal contract!!! Please do your research. So many BTS and BTS songs are deep. They are not typical a typical Kpop band. In fact, they have ascended beyond that. They sing and perform every genre. They discuss every human emotion with reality. They are not ashamed to speak about the importance of mental health. Please. Please respect yourselves by respecting others!!!

@@hitfamily4936 Except it wasn't really them misunderstanding the lyrics. It was them misunderstanding the visual storytelling. We can be reasonable enough to realize that scenes like that in most of media is usually used to indicate that someone has a drug problem. It's the easiest shortcut in visual media to show someone having a drug problem when they're shown with a literal palmful of pills chugging it back. It's not an unreasonable way to interpret it. There's no need to be so harsh when it's an easy way to read that part of the video if you have no context (like they lack). We understand that that isn't the case because we have a ton of context so we have puzzle pieces to help this make sense to us. We know that he's trying to show the passage of time and how often he'd have to use medication for his injuries but they don't even know that he was injured in real life. They just watched a trilogy where most of the first two MV's were a fictional story so we can't expect them to know which parts of the 3rd MV is a reflection of what's real or not. We can be kind and explain instead of being rude and hateful to people who are watching something for the very first time with very little background info. This is not how to treat people who are still relatively early in their journey to the point where they dont even know about Yoongi's accident. Jeez. Have some grace.

I’m tearing up right now cause it’s been a while since I saw that Amygdala MV. Army’s have a hard watching it. The amygdala stores your trauma and how you respond to it. Basically SUGA / Yoongi created Agust D himself. The guy with the scar is to visualize it for us and him. His demons, his dark side that he fights all the time. Amygdala came out only last year with his latest album so we didn’t know when the other MVs dropped. SUGA struggled mentally his whole live and after his accident with that car he hurt his shoulder so badly that he was in constant pain. You can see that in many videos through the years. He wasn’t addicted to anything. Just mentally in this dark place. He was also angry. Now this is important : in the MV Yoongi can’t get to himself through the door right ? The dark Yoongi is laying on the floor , crying for help but The one on the other side can’t get to him no matter what. I forgot it ended that way… Now when you go watch his last of his D- Tour in Seoul … there always was a door behind him built in the set. On his last concert day he walked through that door. He meant the door of the Amygdala MV. He freed himself from his anger and let go… it’s all connected. You can’t make this shit up I swear… This dude always makes me teary eyed🫠

Daechwita: traditional Korean march, played for kings, army movements, etc. The two characters: Suga Rei (tyrant who kills opponents and dissidents) and poor Suga. At the fair, poor Suga shows up with six friends (BTS mention). In the tent, a woman (mentioned by the Army) gives him the key to start the revolution. He and his 6 friends arrive at King Suga's lands without fear. Here they show the drawing of Bang Si-hyuk, ‘creator of BTS’. King Suga despises him and sentences him to death. Even tied up, on his knees, he continues singing Daechwita. (Is poor Suga the real king?). The other condemned men join the revolt, singing Daechwita. Finally, the executioner who was supposed to kill poor Suga also joins the revolt and frees him and gives him a weapon, with which he kills the tyrant king. Metaphor: the lower class 'bringing down the system', mentions BTS who started as a small and discriminated group, from a small bankrupt company, who were despised and disdained, but who ended up becoming the biggest Korean group in kpop, true kings of The game. In the time of dynasties, the poor would never be part of the elite. Today the BTS that started small is the elite. The achievement was difficult, with a lot of ‘blood, sweat and tears’. They “overthrew” the dominant system of the Korean music industry, as they continue to do until now, overturning the arrogance and prejudice of the global music industry. And the one who gave them the key was the Army. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJLcdqejrr2JptE - explanation Fun fact: Jin and Jungkook appear as extras in the MV - they fight when Suga bumps into Jin at the fair.

the pills that he was taking was for his depression. he'd been through a lot and he was a type of person before who isn't really a fan of opening up, and that led to all the emotions piling up inside of him and made him depressed. also, AMYGDALA was a song that felt like Yoongi finally opened up to us - his fans. it was really an emotional song, if you're going to ask me. and yes, they all fall in the same universe such as fighting with his inner demons and other personas. for daechwita, haegeum, and agust d they are actually the trilogy of SUGA's alter ego: Agust D. Agust D was born out his rage during the era of them going up the charts and fame. So, Agust D the song was made. Daechwita on the other hand and the album with it (D-2) was a clapback to all the haters. While Agust D was full of rage, this one's a bit calm but still fiery persona. also, in the mv, there's two Agust D, right? the black haired one was the present, and the blonde one was the past which was again Agust D (the mv). and daechwita is an instrument too that was used for the song. and then haegeum came. just like what others had said, there's two meanings to it. the instrument and liberation (it's also what was used in the song and is the message). he was talking about how we shouldn't be locked up in ppl's societal expectations especially as an idol (that's why there's a scene he was smoking). and then the plot of the mv, the daechwita yoongi became a police while this haegeum yoongi who is liberated and free to do what he wants without thinking others is a theif. in the end, he killed daechwita yoongi because (this came from yoongi himself) that he finally feels liberated of his rage. that he had emptied out everything and now he's the more calmer min yoongi. haegeum and the album with it (D-DAY) is a whole track of finally "freeing the forbidden." yoongi's agust d trilogy albums are all insane. you should give it all a listen some time. ^^

Suga did mention in one of his interviews that Agustd was a by-product of his anger, resentment and disillusionment of the world. STRANGE ft RM is another great song portraying this side of his outlook. Amygdala is the one hopeful song where he is trying to put all the negativity behind him. I would recommend another song called SNOOZE it also feels like this moment of finally being at the end of the tunnel. As a Suga biased person I'm really happy that he's finally decided to let go and heal from his traumas. Can't wait for his new music.

Suga has been open about his mental health (OCD, Depression & Anxiety), something very uncommon in Korea due to cultural stigmas against mental illness. When he was young, he suffered a lot of trauma. In 2016(?), he created the alter ego AgustD so he could get out all of his anger and be completely honest in ways he couldn’t within the group. This was kind of his savage era. He addressed his haters straight on. He was young and full of ambition. He released two mixtapes and an album taking us through his mental heath and maturity journeys. He is very stable and happy today. Now onto the trilogy: Daechwita - King AgustD represents the Suga who started at the bottom and clawed his way to the top of the music industry with BTS. But this King also represents how this incredible success is making him prideful, corrupting him into becoming a power drunk tyrant. The King’s scar is the freshest, which will matter. Street Boss AgustD’s scar is a bit more healed, meaning he is probably a more future version of himself. He is coming back to destroy the Prideful King, thus bringing him back down to earth. Haegeum - The dirty cop AgustD is often theorized to be Street Boss AgustD a bit more grown up. His scar is very faint, but still visible. Cop AgustD is corrupted with greed this time. He has made a lot of money through shady crimes. Then in strolls the carefree hoodlum AgustD. He has no scar at all, indicating he is from further up the timeline. He doesn’t care about the Cop’s secret money stash, he took it to punish the Cop for his greed. Even though he is a regular street thug, this is obviously the happiest version of Suga. He seems happy and well-adjusted, even if he is a bit morally ambiguous. In the end, he kills the Cop filled with greed. Amygdala - Although this video was the last released, it is actually the prequel to Daechwita. The amygdala is the part of the brain that controls trauma, ptsd responses, is responsible for your fears and emotional memories. It actually protects the mind. In the video, the blank, black room is inside Suga’s amygdala. This is where all his troubled thoughts live. It’s also a depiction of his mental health. After his car accident (yes, this really happened to him), his mind created AgustD in order to destroy his fears. (Pride and greed.) Giving himself the ugly scar is his way of representing real-life Suga creating the alter ego AgustD to help him process his emotions, fears and traumas. He doesn’t get out of the room at the end of the video, but at his final concert of his tour, he was wearing a gray outfit and exited the final stage through that white door, symbolizing he is healed now.

First of all, make no mistake, he has never used drugs, it has nothing to do with drugs, I will explain a little about the accident he had. Big Hit refers to an accident that Suga suffered while working as a delivery driver. At first, he told his colleagues that he had fallen down the stairs but in reality a car hit him when he was riding his bicycle. I was doing delivery when I was hit at the intersection, I was just driving and they ambushed me. When I opened my eyes the wheels were here (points at the level of his face), right in front of me.” At first, Suga did not want to reveal the truth to the agency because he thought they would reject him. The artist has written songs about this accident. “The last,” part of the Agust D mixtape, includes the following verse “I had my debut while holding the shoulder I injured at my part-time job.” Big Hit refers to an accident that Suga suffered while working as a delivery driver. At first, he told his colleagues that he had fallen down the stairs but in reality a car hit him when he was riding his bicycle. As many fans know, Suga long suffered from shoulder discomfort. "The problems began when he was injured in an accident that occurred in 2012, before his debut, in which he was diagnosed with a shoulder dislocation." “The shoulder pain continued until he was diagnosed in 2019 with a posterior labral tear in his left shoulder, which means the cartilage around the joint has been torn. Since then, he has continued to receive various treatments to prevent it from affecting his activities. Suga endured a wide range of symptoms for several years, including the inability to lift his arms high and sudden bouts of pain. “He underwent constant rehabilitation and treatment throughout his career, but unfortunately his signs did not improve appreciably.” On Friday, November 6, Big Hit revealed that BTS member Suga had undergone surgery three days earlier. The surgery was performed on his left shoulder, following an ailment that had plagued him for several years.

Lol right. I was gonna say the same thing 😂 cause no way @stephaniemathurin473
REQUEST. At some point, go back and revisit these 3 stunningly exquisite MV's. You took on an almost impossible task because all 3 of these videos have deep meaning, are full of symbolism, and must be studied to gain their full impact. Suga is a genius. And I hope you honor him and take the time to find what he is really saying and feeling and emoting. You have just witnessed brilliant visual and auditory art that deserves your reverence. There is no specific timeliness to come back and revist these Magnificent Masterpieces. Maybe even in your later years of maturity and humanity and cultural insight, you could respectfully watch and appreciate Suga. His life of trauma and challenges and tragedies he overcame to become the person he is now can provide you and your life with true inspiration. I love you guys. Your enthusiasm. Your energy. Your passion for BTS. I also understand where you are in your life. Josh D. I have called you out on this before. You're very rude and compulsive with your teenage outbursts. I get it. So again, I REQUEST you come back and revisit these precious art pieces when you can watch them without a very unthinking comment like "that's some Chinese s h I t." It shows how culturally disrespectful you are to all Asian people. It shows how disrespectful you are to BTS and its highly professional creative team. It shows you still have no control over teenage comments just to get a laugh. But I promise you I'm not judging you. I feel I'm giving you a factual comment on where you are on your life. And your other channel partners are in the same place by laughing at your culturally insensitive "throw away" remark.. It's ok. Do I think you'll grow out of this phase? Yes. You all have the incredible potential to be respectful video reactors. And I have no doubt you'll become mature individuals who can model and mentor the youth in our society. Is there a way to enjoy these mini movies and have fun and make funny comments we all can laugh at? Yes. But you just aren't there yet. Someday you will comeback and revisit these art pieces and immediately recognize the beautiful Korean architecture designed for these spiritual temples! You can say..what an awesome set. I wonder where that is? And you can do a fast fact check on Google on how to pronounce "Daechwita." And a fast fact check on what the word means instead of just guessing. Also, since you have no clear understanding of the meaning of this video and the dramatic ending...there is NO way you can understand the deep meaning of the 2nd and 3rd videos on your watch list. This is my opinion. My subjective opinion. Again, I'll end with my REQUEST. Please revisit these MV's. And I beg you. Don't go to any art museums yelling..."That's some Chinese s h I t!" Just STOP. Ok?

Yoongi isn’t singing about addiction. Those are the drugs he took when his shoulder was injured. He injured his shoulder in a hit and run accident while working as a delivery boy. He didn’t tell Bighit bcus he wanted to debut. So Amygdala speaks about the time he was in a bad place mentally and physically. Please do your research as saying such things can cause controversies. Yoongi is solidly against drug abuse. Also you said something like this once in a video I'll look for it and correct you. Thank you
@lisacsarmiento5627Ай бұрын
Hello Josh, that video scene where Suga was in a motorcycle hitting the car was a visualization of his own accident which injured his shoulder and that happened before they debuted. He must have had the need to take medicines to relieve him of the constant pain but he wasn't a drug addict. He underwent shoulder surgery in 2020 to help relieve him of the constant pain. He also went into depression so he could've probably taken meds to arrest whatever deep anxiety he experienced. In his final concert in Seoul last April and before he enlisted in the military, there was also the same closed door on stage. And when he finished his concert, he walked to the closed door, opened it and went through it as he bade the Armys good bye from the other side of the door..Such a powerful way of saying that he has overcome those painful memories in his amygdala.

I cried, cause I am a new Army. Just a couple hours ago I learned about how Suga just newly opened up about what happened to him in the past to the boys and how devastated all of them looked to hear the full true story, now I saw Amygdala for the first time and I was crying. It all makes so much sense now. The pills are pain killers and the accident in the video is a real one he had when they were just starting out ten years ago and he told everyone that he fell down the stairs back then, but recently due to this song opened up to the boys about the truth: He almost died in a car accident he had when making a delivery. All of them were working so so hard back then to make the rounds. He did not tell anyone about this traumatic event and kept it in for all these years. He was silently suffering and hiding it from everyone to not worry them. Working through the pain, using pain killers and all. He finally opened up and is processing all these bottled up things now with his solo art.

Daechwita is the name of the song that plays in the beginning of the MV and throughout the production, it used to be what they played to honour kings in the old days. His “accident” refers to a bike accident back when he was a trainee (thus the bike scenes). He used to work as a delivery boy part time, and one day he got into an accident with a car and shattered his shoulder. He didn’t tell anyone because he was afraid he would be kicked out of the trainees and not allowed to debut. That’s why in several songs he mentions his shoulder, which pained him for many years until he got surgery in 2020 (you’ll see a few performances when he wasn’t present, this is why) and his 7 tattoo is above the surgery scar. He actually used to train as a bboy back in the day, but obviously he couldn’t continue.

Honestly, these guys seem to be kids very much in their "Broski" stage of reaction - ALWAYS with the shallow jokes (like Jimin's Mud in Like Crazy being "poop") and assuming the easiest answers (literal addiction instead of symbolism). I've seen better, more nuanced takes, so the swerving into juvenile humor is off-putting. There's the occasional flash of insight, but they'd be better served by indulging in some DKDKTV and XCeleste to gain a better, more respectful take, imo✌🏽💜

@HailToTheMeep huh? What's wrong with pointing out their shallow way of thinking? They always missed points and created something that's completely not true? And a bad thing at that? Why should we 'give them a break'? My comment is constructive criticism that should be a way for them to improve. How is saying someone an addict when it's not true at all and they literally just watched him made fun of addicts few minutes ago right? What is this thinking? That's weird.

These songs are a look at two sides of himself, the old and the new, that’s they it’s old (palace), and new (street look, car). Figuring out who is his, reconciling those two people, coming to a deeper understanding of himself. Putting all the pride down, looking at his life, being secure in himself, being true to himself, not wanting or needed to be like others.

Amygdala...is the part of the brain that stores all the bad or traumatic memories of the person. Suga is trying to go through his bad memories one by one to rid himself of them and heal. Man, that Amygdala video hit me so hard the first time I saw it. I cried my eyes out. At first there was no warning about self harm etc. before it started so we all watched it with no preparation. Those of us that struggle with these things can relate to feeling stuck in the memories and our thoughts, feeling like there's no way out. And as you see in the video, the him before the accident sees what will happen in the future and tries to save his future self, but he can't. This is why Suga is my rap bias. His raw honesty and emotion with his music is rare to see. Watching him heal has helped me on my healing journey too.

D-Day is actually a part of a kind of trilogy. It's the last one in the series where he explores himself. August D is the persona he uses to look at this side of himself and the mental health issues he has. If you listen to the others, you will fully understand D-Day. Like RM and Hope his mv's are filled with symbolism. Here, he is still looking at his past self in the present self, hence the use of the ancient past and modern day selves were the modern day 'self' triumphs. The word haegeum can also mean a ban according to Doolset’s translation of the song. You've had enough enough people on here tell you about "Amygdala", which is my favorite song and a favorite of those whose have mental health issues. The last scene where he couldn't open the door, I've always taken taken to mean that you can't erase your memories, but you can overcome them. “This song is a
