The whole burying Dobby without magic thing is just like being respectful and putting in the time and effort to truly honor his life and sacrifice. As opposed to using magic to make it easier on themselves and not putting in the time and effort. Overall it’s just a love and respect thing.

@@Syntell The other thing about Dobby is that those of us who read the books had way more time with him than people who only watched the movies. For example, after he became a free elf, he tried to work for other wizarding families but he damanded pay and no one was willing to pay him, so he ended up getting a job at Hogwarts in the kitchens. The whole thing about the kitchens at Hogwarts was cut from the movies. So Dobby actually helped Harry a lot during the Goblet of Fire.

Hey guys, great reaction. Just to let u know, Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody's death in the book happened pretty much the same way it happened in the movie. Mad-Eye was killed & Mundungus Fletcher, who was riding w/Moody, disapparated (teleported)out of there. About Dobby, he appears in just about every book after his introduction in Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets. He ended up going to work in the kitchen @ Hogwarts. I think it was so he could be close to Harry. He would visit Harry often & gift Harry socks every Christmas. So, yeah, I guess u could say Harry & Dobby were friends. Dobby was the one to get the Gillyweed for Harry from Snapes stores in The Goblet of Fire. He is loved for his kindness, loyalty & always wanting to help & protect Harry. That's why when he died in the book & movie, I cried. @ the end in the book, Dobby had more clothes. I don't know why they kept him in the house elf rags in the movie. I guess it was easier for the CGI. Did u notice the name on the tombstone Hermione brushed the snow off of when Harry & Hermione were in the graveyard @ Godric's Hollow? The name was Peverell which was the last name of the 3 brothers in the story about The Deathly Hallows. It is believed that Harry's invisibility cloak is the one from the story, & that he is descended from that brother. Anyway, again, great reaction guys. See u on the finale.

The books went further into Dobby. He had new clothes. Hermione found out Hogwarts had house elves and went on a campaign for elf rights. Sirius had a larger role in the books also. The movies did a good job but the books had a lot of things going on that weren't in the movies. Time constraints of course. Stephen King was asked about the scariest villain he'd ever seen and he said "Dolores Umbridge".

@rhiahlMT4 ай бұрын
This isn't the original article but it gives the gist. Dolores Umbridge takes the accolade of being noted as "the greatest make-believe villain to come along since Hannibal Lecter." The words of high praise came from King's review for Entertainment Weekly regarding the fifth book installment, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. His answer came in response to the question, "What’s the best thing about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?" In no uncertain terms, King highlighted that "The gently smiling Dolores Umbridge, with her girlish voice, toadlike face, and clutching, stubby fingers, is the greatest make-believe villain to come along since Hannibal Lecter." It's certainly a bold statement, but one that is completely justified. King went on to explain that most people will recall a teacher that they feared so much that they dreaded the journey to school, and Dolores wholly fits the bill. The Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher filtered into the narrative with a looming doom that students couldn't escape. Dolores' nefarious acts put her on par with Death Eaters. She was discriminatory towards muggles and half-bloods, but her wickedness wasn't reserved only for them. She behaved appallingly to her family and to any other students that she wanted to punish. King's description of her as "the gently smiling Dolores Umbridge, with her girlish voice" is attributed to what made her so fearsome. At first glance, her fairly innocent, well-kempt appearance could fool anyone into believing that she might be a kind individual. People may initially feel at ease before her despicable personality would be revealed, and she was able to catch others off-guard.

The reason Kreacher was acting differently towards Harry than he did to Hermione is because Sirius not only left Grimauld Place (the former headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix) to Harry in a will but Harry also inherited Kreacher as well. As a result Kreacher is magically bound to obey Harry. Harry never freed Kreacher because Dumbledore asked Harry not to due to Kreacher knowing way to much about The Order of the Phoenix secret group. When Harry found out about Regelus Black being R.A.B Kreacher told Harry about how Regelus use to be a Deatheater during the first war. But one day Regelus found out that Voldemort was using his favorite house elf to experiment on when he was creating the evil magical defenses in the cave where the Slytherin locket was originally located. When Kreacher told Harry about how he was tortured by Voldemort and how Regelus sacrifice himself to save Kreacher, Harry felt sorry for Kreacher to the point that he gifted Kreacher the fake Slytherin locket that use to belong to Regelus. From that moment on Kreacher changed his attitude not only towards Harry but he began to be kind to Hermione and Ron as well. 📿🪄

Hey there, you two! Love your reactions! In the book, just about all of the characters were more established, and Dobby did actually come to be a friend of the trio. (He hung around at Hogwarts and had trouble finding a paid job as a free elf while Hermione was very focused on the cause of freeing all elves, including those at Hogwarts. She knitted a ton of hats and left them everywhere around the kitchens and such but the elves all avoided them aside from Dobby. He collected them all and wore them as a massive stack on his head.) And the elves were actually pretty powerful, but they and every other magical creature out there were seen as less by the elitist wizards. Those wizards pretty much used their wands/magic to uphold that view, so Harry treating Dobby as an equal and burying him without magic was sort of seen as a mark of who he was and what he stood for which was very different from the Ministry and Voldemort.

The movies made Hermione OP (overpowered) and made Ron the comic relief, especially in the early movies. They gave her some of the things Ron and other characters did in the books. In Goblet of Fire book, it is Dobby who gives Harry the gillyweed rather than Neville. Also, during the same year Hermoine starts her own club called S.P.E.W. As a gesture to help free all the house elfs Hermoine knits multiple hats and leave them all around the Griffindor common room. In the books, Dobby had a much bigger role. He came back to Hogwarts in the Goblet of fire book, where he was unale to find any job for chosing to be free and nobody was willing to pay an elf money in exchange for his services. For this reason, he came back to Hogwarts and was hired by Dumbledore to work in the kitchens for a galleon a week with a day off each month, also he was also the one to provide Harry with the "Gillyweed", not Neville as per the books. Further, he was also a good friend to another elf Winky who became alcoholic after she was wrongly asked to leave her last master. Further, he also made sure to send Harry gifts every Christmas which were usually socks as it was very special to him because it was a sock which led to him being free. He also helped Harry spy on Draco in the book Half-blood Prince book along with Kreacher when Harry was sure Draco was planning something. His story was very well written in the books and was butchered by the movies. For this reason, those who have read the books were very sad when Dobby died.

So, Dobby's role was completely cut out of multiple movies where he interacted with the trio and their circle. It started with Goblet of Fire, where Dobby got a job at Hogwarts, as, once we he was freed, Dobby started asking for wages and wizard families weren't willing to pay him for, y'know, doing work. He also did start wearing clothes - a huge disservice done to him in this film that he was still wearing his dirty old pillowcase. There was a whole subplot in GoF where Hermione, inspired by Dobby's embrace of his status as a free elf, and learning that Hogwarts had a whole crew of unpaid, unfreed, house elves working for the school (all those magnificent Great Hall feasts? Not magic, made by house elves working the kitchens) tried to encourage the other house elves to seek freedom and follow Dobby's example. It did not go well... Hermione eventually started trying to "trick" the house elves into freedom by leaving hats or socks around the common room, so they would accidentally free themselves when they came to tidy up. This resulted in Dobby being the only house elf willing to go to thr Gryffindor dorms. He kept every one of Hermione's hats (she had handmade them) and socks, which were Dobby's favorite article of clothing for obvious reasons. He even made a pair of socks for Harry as a Christmas gift that year, which made Harry feel all kinds of awkward about, but he wore the socks nonetheless, because it made Dobby happy to have the means to give Harry a gift. Also in GoF, it was Dobby, not Neville, who gave Harry the gillyweed for the second task. In OotP, Dobby was the one who told Harry about the Room of Requirement, when they were looking for a place to hold their secret lessons. I think these omissions from the plot in previous movies is why more time is spent on Dobby's death here, almost like an "oops, we should have been building the connections with this character before, but we still want movie-only viewers to feel this moment the way book readers do". A lot of characters were done dirty by the movies versus their development in the books. You can only include so much, but some choices were especially egregious. I agree that I wish we had gotten more for Luna too, she's my favorite, and her actress completely nails her too.

So with Dobby we see in the 4th book he's the one that gives Harry the gillyweed so that way he can swim underneath the water. He is also the one that helps Harry find the room of requirement which they used to make Dumbledore's Army in the fifth book. Dobby started working at Hogwarts in book 4, he was the only paid house elf there. We see him exchanging gifts with both Ron and Harry over the years. And we also see him dress up in some funny clothing. This however is all in the book unfortunately and was not shown in the movie. I'm also leaving out some other good moments but just from this alone you can see why there is a large fan base that loves Dobby. #RIPDobby

They found that it was Harry's wand that was used but Harry's wand was stolen from him while he was watching the match, which he didn't know at the time.
@curvydva9 ай бұрын
They didn’t wake up Hermione because it had to be Ron who destroyed it; he was the one most affected by the Horcrux. Also, in terms of story pacing, you saw her reaction to his return, if they take time to go back to the tent, wake her, destroy the locket THEN circle back to her fussing at him, all the emotional weight disappears and she just seems like a nag considering what they just faced. Her extreme reaction (asking for her wand) happens BEFORE she learns he destroyed it and it’s purely about him being back and feeling like he shouldn’t have left in the first place. The more info she learns the more she calms down. If they wake her up, she never gets to truly express herself. Also, Horcruxes aren’t inherently physically dangerous, they just take measures to defend themselves like dodging something that could destroy it. They weren’t in REAL danger because there was nothing there for it to take control of that could harm them, just play mind games. Luna is still in this movie because her father has a news paper that was the only one speaking out against Voldemort, the Death Eaters and their crimes against muggles. They kidnapped Luna to get him to stop and also to potentially lure Harry into rescuing her.

Yeah, dobby had more presence in the books, as well as kreacher. There's a chapter on kreacher's tale with rab that gave me goosebumps. It was too bad they couldn't work that into the movie.

I read the books and they left out a lot of Dobby's story. I definitely grew attached to Dobby in the books and i was crushed when he was killed. But from a writers perspective, Dobby had to go. He was too powerful of an ally.

❤ Also the writer of Harry Potter said Luna almost ended up with Harry. That's why she kept popping up. Me personally...i think they would've been a MUCH better couple. They had more in common, both had dead moms and had seen real shxt long before they came to school. And were both on the outside of society. Plus Luna is smart like Hermione but she doesn't baby him the same way and makes him do things on his own.

Hermione need someone to make her laugh. See, we laugh With book Ron, but At movie Ron. There's an important difference. Dobby were present in all the books, from book four, and he Really helped Harry out on a few occasions, so there's a pretty strong bond between them.

Dobby had a much bigger part in the books though. So we have more time to care about him and kind of forgive him for trying to “save” Harry in all the wrong ways.

Nope the middle of the seventh book is sssslllllooooowwww too. You do spend more time learning about Dumbledore's life and get to know him as a more complex and complete person. But it really was them camping and moving around and not knowing what to do next for a good chunk of that book.

Yeah I was destroyed when Dobbie died even only seeing the movie, probably mostly cause of how Harry was losing everyone I think.

I did not read the books and I was not that attached to Dobby. I found him somewhat annoying . I was surprised he got more attention in death than some of the others in the series. I read some of the comments here though that do explain he was much more present in the books.

Totally agree, this one was a bit slow. And in general, made me realize that the secret sauce of Harry Potter is Hogwarts! Loved the character development and high stakes in this one, but I missed the school setting. For whatever this one's faults are though, they MORE than make up for it in the next film. Get ready for an action packed conclusion! One of the best films in the series! In the next video, would love if you could give a ranking of all 8 films. PS - Also felt the same about Dobby, and I read the books, lol. I am in the minority though, most book readers were VERY invested in Dobby. I felt a little sad when he died, but didn't feel it was a strong enough dramatic note to end on. But some people were moved to tears.

Guys i always try to see positive things in everything but i must say it may be triggering for me or some viewers atleast to see this reactions, i can understand not everyone likes everything, but in expense of keeping the reaction engaging, u guys dont even pay attention whats going on in movie. I mean u acted so strange to all of thing which have already beeen introduced or shown in previous movies like u r seeing it first time now, and the laughing at most random or weird places i know it happens but it shows u r not even intersted in movie, u r doing it just for sake of reaction and completing the series. So explaining details in coments to some things it feels to be in vain, why everytime dobby comes u try to do jokes i get it first time u see him as elf which is not up to what we have been told or saw elves as, but everytime???..... u dont get that character arc. it feels i wasted my 50min 😐😐

Don’t take it in a bad way but I kinda feel you are not really invested in the series. I don’t know if you are even reading all the comments. You keep missing important words, like you reacted to mad eye as if you heard it for the first time, that’s literally what he is called back in the 4th movie. A lot of invested potter fans are watching your reactions and it’s a bit frustrating when you keep missing plot points. Like if you read all the comments you will know that people are explaining what’s there in books.

@@anand201997 ya really! They keep talking in between dialogues, don’t register names, they missed the whole of 5th movie and watched 6th and dint even bat an eyelid when bellatrix screamt I killed Sirius black, like they dint watch Sirius die and dint even question it. Even while all the action is happening their worry is why isn’t Dobby wearing cloths. Looking at all the weasleys they go oh my god so many weasleys??? What the actual fuck, it’s been 7 movies and you don’t know that there are 7 Weasleys. Well even if you dint know it’s 7, you still know it’s quite a bit right, there are literally 5 in kings cross in the first movie. It’s annoying really. I have seen other reaction channels going deeper into comments and fan theories and actually replying to comments. You know how Harry Potter fans would literally explain everything that’s not in the movies and but in books, and other reaction channels would actually acknowledge them and talk about it in their reactions later. I am not saying that’s the benchmark, it’s possible that they don’t like the series as much or something, but atleast put some effort. This is lazy.

I highly recommend you both read the books. I personally would love book review videos from you on how you would compare them with the movies. There is SO much more that happens in the books. No spoilers, but Dobby plays a bigger part in the story. In fact, house elves in general play a bigger role in several of the books. Also, the movies do Ron a disservice, in my opinion. Both he and Hermione’s personalities are slightly changed for the movies.
@heidispencer36399 ай бұрын
Hard agree about Ron. In the books he was my favorite character. He was smarter and more intuitive in the books regarding the wizarding world. In the movies they make him just the comic relief.
