There is a very nice dialogue for 39:25 in the book. Ron said, "I think I understand why Dumbledore left me this lantern. He must have guessed I would abandon you." Harry said: "No. He must have guessed you would always want to come back." that was touching

There are so many deeply intentional things in Deathly Hallows that gets lost from something as simple as the script writer and director not being careful enough. I love the movies but they could have been EVEN MORE epic with more attention to the symbolism. Example: Harry and Ron’s fight in the tent. Movie: Harry exclaims, “What, you think I don’t know how this feels?!” Ron shouts, “No you don’t know how this feels! Your parents are dead! You have no family!” So harsh and Harry just takes it, just tells Ron to go, to leave. Making Harry a martyr and Ron a bully. Book: “My parents are dead!” Harry bellowed. “And mine could be going the same way!” yelled Ron. Then Harry goes on to belittle Ron and they both pull out their wands. It was an equal argument in the books.

Not to mention that they weren’t even spoils of war lost in battle, the longbottoms were attacked AFTER Harry survived just for some kicks and giggles and maybe info. Also the movies don’t go deep into this but Neville (as his parents) has some weird constitution and resists a lot more than others (last movie shows it a bit but not much). Something else that they don’t show much which is a pity is how beserky and pragmatical he is with his fighting. Sure he gets better with charms but the guy sticks a wand on a death eater’s eye, once needed all four griffindor boys to hold him back from punching Malfoy for mentioning the “crazy” section of st mungus (call back to him going full on “ok I’m gonna fight u” *fists up* in Philosopher’s Stone and also cut from the movie the dude was going MASS MURDERER with mandrakes - im actually upset they don’t hype Neville as much, the dude is menace and just gets more unhinged with 600 points all put in constitution in his character sheet all while being like “plants are cute right” *potting extremely violent plants and getting totally hurt in the process and being like “done :)”* soft boy can spit fire.

P.S.: minor spoiler warning for the books and because I’ve been on a Neville character study lately; I was rereading the final battle the other day and Neville does come out as not only reserved but his nature is soothing, like dude carrying dead bodies but will stop and talk to Harry who describes his friend as “looking like an old mad” and even as he’s doing it he is able to tell Harry is struggling with something and offers him support. We tend to focus on the cool “action stuff” I won’t talk about where gets very geiffindorish but his loyalty and kindness also Shine a lot Which is why I am one of the people Who’ll tell you his book endgame wife if very fitting (which I hope doesnt count as spoilers here since it u only go by the movies you won’t even know her haha).

51:15 Pudgey is right. When Harry and Hermione were at Godrich Hollow, and she found grave with the symbol, it was the grave of Ignotice Peverall, who is the original owner of the cloak and Harry’s ancestor. All other invisibility cloaks are temporary. Their spell does not last long. Harry’s cloak is the only one who’s lasted for centuries, because it was cut from deaths own shroud.

It's a Tale, the Deathly Hallows is a legend, there was no bargain with Death. The Peverells were three brilliant wizards who created those three powerful magical objects, and the legend began with their passing. The Elder Wand's core is made of a hair of thestral, for example. We don't know how the Stone and the Cloack exactly work but at least he cloak doesn't sounds like something out of the scope of achievement of a genius wizard. Same with the Stone, especially because we learn those ghost are not the actual souls of the deceased, but rather illusions that comes from the heart of the Stone's owner.

The thing with Harry and Petunia should not have been left in. Petunia in the books didn’t deserve any kind of redemption or sympathetic nods. In the books she didn’t say a word to Harry, she left without as much as a “good luck” or “stay safe” and treated him like crap for his entire life. I don’t care if she was Lilys sister or she was all sad about not being a witch herself - she literally treated her dead sisters child like he was sub human and hoped that she could suppress him so hard that he wouldn’t become magical. However, Dudley is a separate case. He mainly repeated what he heard from his parents which was calling Harry a “freak” and bullying him cos he was different. After Harry saved his life he completely changed his point of view and started to see Harry as a person and stopped buying into his parents beliefs. A child literally had more sense that two grown adults who bullied and abused an orphan child cos they didn’t like magic.

Regarding Riddle’s upbringing. The big thing that is left out in the movies is that his mom had his dad under a love potion when he was conceived. After he was born she released him and he ran away. His mom swore off magic and gave Tom to an orphanage before she died. He blamed his dad, hence the muggle hate, and he can’t experience love because he was conceived on a love potion.

Lucius fell out of favor with Voldemort for failing to bring back the prophecy which Harry retrieved from the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic. Voldemort realized Harry and himself share a mind connection (through which Harry knew when Ron's father was attack by Nagini while standing guard over the prophecy in the Department of Mysteries), and Voldemort then used the mind connection to craft a false vision of Sirius captured and being tortured at the Department of Mysteries. Lucius was lying in wait to ambush them for the prophecy once harry retrieved it (as only somebody about whom the prophecy is made could retrieve it, i.e. Harry or Voldemort). Voldemort didn't want to retrieve it himself as there was high risk of revealing he was alive again. Lucius failed in his task and Voldemort ended up having to come anyway, and ended up being revealed. I think he blamed Lucius for that if I remember correctly. Losing favor from that is also why Draco was given the task of killing Dumbledore (Which Narcissa, Draco's mother, made Snape swear to help Draco with). Voldemort never expected Draco to succeed in achieving Dumbledore's death, but if he did it was a win for Voldemort. It was however more likely Draco would die, or be captured, in the attempt, and so Voldemort giving Draco this task wasn't an honor, but a punishment of Lucius.

I would have loved the inclusion of a little scene in the book when Harry, Ron and Hermione were visiting Mr. Lovegood and they Harry was in Luna's room. It shows how much Luna cared for her friends and (in my eyes) what a sweet person she actually is. If I recall correctly, the movies also never mention that Luna's mother died because of a failed experiment which also kinda shows that Luna and Harry even share some similarities and she can relate pretty well to Harry (in general she is described as having the ability to speak uncomfortable truths) “Luna had decorated her bedroom ceiling with five beautifully painted faces: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville. They were not moving as the portraits at Hogwarts moved, but there was a certain magic about them all the same: Harry thought they breathed. What appeared to be fine golden chains wove around the pictures, linking them together, but after examining them for a minute or so, Harry realized that the chains were actually one word, repeated a thousand times in golden ink: friends . . . friends . . . friends . . .” Would have loved to see that in the movies.

I refuse to recognize the horrendous Fantastic Beast films as canon. The obscurus bullshit, the Nagini-Maledictus origin story. I just wish Rowling stuck to writing novels where she excels at, and not screenwriting. The second one was the worst BY FAR. I don't know what happened there, but she should stay away from screenwriting, it's not her forte. Trash movies. The first one is decent because the stakes are low, it's more wholesome and whimsical, it's more adult oriented but not in a "dark mature" way, more like a warmth rom com mixed with mystery and adventure. But they tried to shoehorne the Dumbledore vs Grindelwald war and thats how it went to shit. The sequel's storyline is one of the worst messes I've ever watch in a franchise. EDIT: It doesn't help she recognize The Cursed Child as canon. So yeah, to me JKR lost her mind a long time ago and now she is fucking senile with her franchise. I only take the seven books as canon, everything else is compromised.

And also to apparate (teleport) they need to apply for a license. Just like a driving license. It was so funny in the books how they learn and what happened during the licensure exams😂. By this time, they're already licensed to apparte(teleport). That's also why in the sixth movie, Harry still need to hold dumbledore's hand to apparate. And why they need portkeys, other ways of transportation in the earliear movies due to them still being underage.

The Cloak of Invisibility was passed down to Ignotus's son. Ignotus's son had no male heirs so his oldest daughter, Iolanthe, inherited it instead. The Peverell family died in the male line around this time, but the heirloom was passed down the generations through the female line, the Potters, as Iolanthe had married Hardwin Potter from Stinchcombe In the 20th century, the Cloak eventually ended up in the hands of Henry Potter, a Wizengamot member, ❤❤❤

Spartan: "That from start to finish was just awesome.....SO much happened!" THANK YOU. This is my favorite film next to Prisoner of Azkaban. As a book adaptation, I think it might be the single strongest and most faithful entry, splitting the book into two parts really helped with that. But they definitely had to, because what you said about this movie was also true of the book - it was SO dense with content. All killer, no filler. This movie gets some flack for being boring/slow at times, because of the camping scenes, but not only is that completely true to the books, I actually like that this movie was able to take its time and breathe for a change. One of my biggest issues with the David Yates films, especially 5 and 6, was the pacing - they felt really rushed in places and scenes weren't dramatically weighted properly, it was just kind of like flipping through a sequence of events as they happened, almost like cliff notes versions of the books. This had more of the pacing of a true adventure, or "road movie". I don't know how people can consider this movie boring while Lord of the Rings, which is dozens of times slower paced and more drawn out in places, is considered a masterpiece. I'm not saying this is at that level, but I just think it gets a lot flack it doesn't deserve, and is massively underappreciated. It's also just one of the best looking films visually, the cinematography is amazing, even the way the filmed it, everything is just gorgeous to look at and RICH with color - something that can't be said for the previous few films.

They reshowed Dumbledore falling at the beginning partially to set the tone because there was a year and half between the releases of Half Blood Prince and DH1 movies, so it immediately took us back to that moment, and also to remind viewers that it’s going to be dark AF out the gate. Also reminds audience it’s weighing on Harry. Yes most of the students went back to Hogwarts for year 7, but the trio chose to hunt for Horcruxes instead of returning. Last movie answers most of your questions 👍 RIP Dobby. Everyone sobbed when reading the book and in the theaters; now it’s a sense of impending doom when he pops up to help escape Malfoy Manor 😭 I also cried in the books when Hedwig died in the beginning but she had more personality in the books so it was a really sad unnecessary innocent death.

The Ministry of Magic falling was given a bit more of a context in the book, Death Eaters managed to stage a successful coup on Minister Scrimgeour, and captured him alive. Despite being tortured by Voldemort himself for information about Harry's whereabouts, Scrimgeour put up a fight in his final moments and refused to talk.

I just wanna say, I'm both excited and sad that we are approaching the last movie. Excited because you two are the first reactors that brought me back to the time when I watched these films; you both are so invested and engaged enough to understand what's going, but yet because it's your first time watching, the mystery still lies in every corner; one of the best feelings ever watching this series. Sad because it's coming to an end, and I wish the journey can be longer; I know we can always watch other films, but this one is just very special, and with how much you guys are engaging, it made it so much better and irreplaceable.

Fabulous moment from the book that the movie leaves out: after the trio confront Kreacher about the fake locket and before sending him to find Mundungus, Harry gives Kreacher the fake locket as a memento from Regulus. This endears the trio to Kreacher who becomes a faithful, caring servant as opposed to the grumpy, reticent, mope that he was before.

Umbridge was not a servant of Voldemort, she only hides behind those who are in power at the moment. Obviously she has beliefs more similar to Voldemort's, but she was never an open follower. I find this detail quite interesting about her.

I recall someone saying this film was Harry's journey from childhood to adulthood. He loses everything that were hallmarks of his protected childhood: Dumbledore, the Dursleys, Hedwig, Hogwarts, even his first wand. Even Ron goes off for a while. Harry has to become his own man. ________________________________________________________________________ Mad-Eye Moody is dead. He died when the Death Eaters attacked the multiple Harrys. ________________________________________________________________________ Take the Tale of the Three Brothers with a grain of salt. Oral tradition too often turns detailed history into storytelling, causing the facts to be modified to make a better (more easily remembered) story. The three brothers were the Peverell Brothers. It's doubtful they parlayed with Death, but instead developed the 'Three Deathly Hallows' themselves. It's unlikely the Deathly Hallows 'makes one master of death'. And the Resurrection Stone is badly-named; it does not bring anyone back from the dead. All it does is pull in the ghost of the dead person and trap them with the one who summoned them, with each moment they are trapped causing increasingly more suffering. Interestingly, though, was Ignatus Peverell's gravestone in the Godric's Hollow cemetery. Harry is a direct descendent of Ignatus; it's where Harry got his Cloak of Invisibility. As for the Elder Wand, it does exist and it IS the most powerful wand in the world. Dumbledore had it, until he tricked Draco into disarming Dumbledore of it. Draco still doesn't know he's the new master of the Elder Wand. And Voldemort thinks it answers to Snape because Snape killed Dumbledore; but it doesn't work that way. Wands change loyalty only if the current master is disarmed by someone else; the wand switches loyalty to the one who disarms him. Wands don't recognize thieves. ________________________________________________________________________ Yes. Voldemort has the Elder Wand. But a fat lot of good it will do him. The Elder Wand had already switched loyalty to Draco. But... When Harry rushed back to grab wands from Draco, during Dobby's rescue from Malfoy Mansion, Harry grabbed Draco's original wand, DISARMING HIM. As of that moment, Harry is the master of the Elder Wand. The Elder Wand will resist Voldemort using it, cracking and potentially breaking if Voldemort forces it to work. More importantly, the Elder Wand will refuse to kill Harry. Meanwhile, no one knows who the true master of the Elder Wand, except the Elder Wand. (It's possible Snape thinks the Elder Wand is loyal to Draco, but I question whether Snape thinks killing the previous owner is necessary, instead of just disarming him).

Deathly Hallows Part One is seriously underrated. By far one of the darkest in the series and I love it for that. Moody, Hedwig, and Dobby who are all prominent characters die. Then you've also got the deaths of Charity Burbage, Rufus Scrimgeour (MoM), Gregorovitch (wandmaker), Bathilda Bagshot...Tonk's father, Ted Tonks, is also mentioned to have died.

Lucius Malfoy had the diary from Voldemort for safekeeping, and had no clue it was a Horcrux. When he put it in Ginny’s cauldron in Chamber of Secrets to cause havoc at Hogwarts, he didn’t realise he was putting part of Voldy’s soul at risk - he also kinda thought the Dark Lord was gone. So Voldemort was pretty furious with Lucius already, and then Draco’s dad lost the extremely important prophecy too - it meant that Harry gained the info from the prophecy but Voldemort still didn’t know what it said, putting Harry at a potential advantage. Lucius is lucky to be alive, and desperate to redeem himself.

The books tell us that Harry's cloak belonged to his father and the Potter family is said to be descendants of the Peverell brothers about whom are believed to be the three brothers in the story. The cloak Harry has, unlike other invisibility cloaks, has not lost its power over time, adding to the belief that it is the cloak in the story. In the 1st book, the Christmas gift of the cloak came from Dumbledore who, as the note that came with it said, had borrowed it from Harry's father to look into why it was unlike ordinary invisibility cloaks. Voldemort knows nothing about hallows; his only interest is the elder wand so he can be invincible.

There is something explained in the novels that was not explained in the films. Harry's mirror fragment. It wasn't a piece of the mirror of erised. It was a piece of a gift from Sirius. The mirror itself has some tragedy/irony to it. In Harry's fifth year, he wanted to communicate with Sirius, but Umbridge started watching all known methods of communication (except her own fireplace). She nearly caught Sirius because he used flu powder to communicate with Harry through the Gryffindor common room fireplace. At Christmas, Sirius gave Harry a gift, but told him not to open it right away (because it would upset Molly). When he gets back to Hogwarts he forgets about it. After the battle at the Ministry, Harry finds the gift, inside is a two way mirror, with Sirius' note explaining how to use it (he used to use it to communicate with James, when they were in separate detentions). To use it, look into the mirror, say Sirius' name clearly, and he'll hear it with his own two way mirror and respond. Sadly, if Harry had opened the gift sooner, he would have been able to verify Sirius's safety, without attempting to sneak into Umbridge's office/fireplace (and having Kreacher lie to him). With no verification of Sirius' presence at Grimmauld Place, Harry then decided to visit the Ministry to verify the vision he had of Sirius being tortured (Moldy Voldy's trap vision) and attempt to rescue his Godfather. Back to the mirror. Harry realizes these implications, and is furious that he forgot to open the gift. He throws it into his trunk where it breaks. (If I remember correctly, this is left out of the movie.) When he's packing his bags for the Horcrux hunting trip, he reaches into his trunk and cuts his finger on the mirror. He brings the largest piece he can find with him. Not for much else than sentimental reasons. He stores it in the Mokeskin pouch Hagrid gave him, but frequently looks into it. He feels like he sees a glimpse of bright blue eye, every once in a while. In the Malfoy's basement/dungeon he calls to it for help, and help arrives in the form of Dobby.

In the book, kreachers story is far more tragic. Basically Regulus was a death eater. And when voldemort created the locket, he wanted a house elf to test its defenses, so regulus offered kreacher. He took kreacher to the cave and made him drink the potion. Then he left him there to die but elves are different so he escaped and returned to regulus and told him what happened. Regulus was disgusted at what voldemort did so he ordered kreacher to take him back to the cave, drank the potion himself and stole the horcrux. Told kreacher to leave while he succumbed to the inferi under the water. The headmaster from Hogwarts legacy (Phineas nigellus black) Sirius Blacks relative, played a pretty big role in the book. Hermione carries one of his paintings in her bag and he helps them out a few times

You guys should definitely watch the deleted scenes. It includes the Dursleys and their more human side with their goodbyes to Harry. They should have kept them in the final cut. Also, fun fact. The professor Spartan thought died at the table at the beginning was Professor Trawleney he was getting confused with (the teacher who gave the prophecy in the third film whilst in a trance and got sacked in the fifth by Umbridge). She was the one who gave the original prophecy of Harry and Voldemort that Lucius broke. She gave it before Harry was born in a job interview with Dumbledore. Dumbledore hired her to protect her because he knew Voldemort would try to kidnap her if she was outside Hogwarts. That's also the reason he was keen to stop Umbridge from kicking her out of Hovwarts. Voldemort would get her otherwise.

If you listen/watch the memory from HBP he mentioned to slughorn that he wanted to divide his soul into seven parts. That is HIMSELF and SIX other parts hidden in horcruxes. So at this point they had discovered he book, the ring, the locket. That's 3 so they were looking for 3 more.

I have yet to see a reactor understand why Hermione erases her parents' memories. Reason 9837 that the movies are utter FAILURES at explaining important plot points. I'm going to explain it. Only a mild spoiler if you are planning to read the books. Hermione is Harry Potter's best friend and is going to be going on the run with him. Obviously, the first people the Ministry (Voldemort essentially at this point) is going to question about Hermione's whereabouts is her parents. If her parents are gone from their house, believe they're someone else entirely (don't think the movies touched on this aspect of the spell), AND don't even know they have a daughter... Voldemort will be hard pressed to find them. 8:47

@@SubKween Hmm i mean, fair, but on a second thought: rewatching this series because it is so good, you might not get it the first time, which makes the second time you are watching it more of a pleasure since you did not get everything the first time. I would also say it is not that bad if someone is slightly confused on that part, the other events happening take more of your focus so most don't keep thinking about hermoines parents after that scene. I never read the books, but understood why she did erase their memories the first time watching( plenty of things i did not get apart from that though the 1st time). A simple answer anyone can come up with is: because they are in danger, without specifically knowing why. I feel its great some things the movies left open for interpretation, while other events could use some more explanation since they lacked crucial information from the books

A little about deathly hallows. Elder wand: belonged to Antioch Peverell, the wand then traveled through various great wizard and reached Grindelwald (Dumbledores boyfriend) . Dumbledore defeats Grindelwald and became the owner of the wand. That story you can follow up with the Fantastic beast series. Resurrection stone: belonged to Cadmus Peverll. He was Voldemort’s ancestor. The ring was passed up until Voldemort’s mother which Dumbledore later found. Cloak of Invisibility: belonged to Ignatus Peverll (the grave they saw in Godric Hollow) . He was Harry’s ancestor. The cloak was given down through generation to at last reach Harry.
