I watched a KZbin video by a lady who lives in the horse world and is studying to be a vet. Boiling her video into a "nutshell", she showed clips of Shae in different phases of horse training, and was very complimentary of it indicating that what Shae does is the way it should be done. I concur. It's obvious to me that all of her horses love her. A person doesn't get that by being a crappy trainer. (I wish I could remember that person's name, but can't.)

What a beautiful, sturdy, glowing result of this major renovation of Free Spirit Equestrian’s barn. It is like night and day the difference. Especially when one knows in what bad shape it really was. 56 rotten structural posts is incredible, considering that there was so much live activity going on inside this structurally impaired barn. Morton did you proud, Shae and Kyle. I know how happy you are. Congratulations on such success. Horse trainer, breeder and barn owner of over 60 years here, and your follower! Your new barn is beautiful; what a great job you, Kyle and Morton's guys, did! Perhaps you have plans to do these and I'm just jumping the gun, but based on too-many-to-count years of experience, I have some suggestions to keep it looking and performing great over the coming years.... While it's convenient to have the paddock area bordered on that side by the barn wall and certainly less expensive then putting more fencing up, I'd try to keep the horses off the sides of the barn. If you can, run Safe-fence or steel fencing at least wide enough to get a large tractor thru, parallel to the barn. That first kick or even a dent from an itchy be-hind rubbing against those perfect "butt-rubbing ribs" will break your heart plus could lead to rust forming, damaging the metal. I'm assuming that pressure-treated wood was installed at the base and while that lasts a long time, I also treat mine with Thompson's water seal. Keep a yearly schedule to protect that wood and your investment. This would be my first step before laying the gravel down. I love what you are putting in the gravel and that you intend to grade away from it and the barn. That is very smart! The run off from the gutters will run into your paddock creating some "canyons." When this started happening after my new barn was installed, I had French Drains put in before that run-off created problems. Because of the extreme size of your barn, you might choose a different solution. I think doing that will help save your paddock from experiencing little "Grand Canyons." I'm assuming you have a powder-coating surface on the outside of the barn. One thing you will now begin to notice that you may not have seen before because your barn was red, are flies leaving their poo! After a few years this will really become evident, especially when viewed up close. I tried first waxing the sides of my barn to try to make it easier to clean but that got old fast, so power-washing every so often, especially on a hot day, can be sorta "fun." Of course, besides picking up poo constantly and instituting on-going fly control measures, flies still happen; we just do our best. I hope you don't think I've overstepped my bounds and take these suggestions in the spirit I offer them; I believe we should never stop educating ourselves and learning from the experiences of others who've gone before is part of that process. Now, a fun "ask"...perhaps you've already put together a video of the inside and I just haven't found it yet but would you consider doing a video of the inside stall area and your feed room now that your barn is finished? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see it! Again, congratulations on your new, gorgeous barn! 👏🏻 I know how much work, effort, time and money went into it and your excitement shows! It's an investment in your future (and has also brought up your Real Estate values) and your horses will enjoy it during bad weather. Sending continued best wishes to you, pretty lady ❤️ 🐎

Looks great. I love barns, love the inside of barns; the workings. 😊 My Grandmother's barn was like a city inside. They had corrals on the backside to shelter all the cattle and the horses with outside easy access stalls for each horse, each cowboy to take the saddle & bridle off right there with internal elevated hallways to add feed down into them. It was a working farm. They had corn bins & a corn grinding area to sack their own feed. Lots of hay bins. The hallway was double wide for a large wagon to drive in and lift the hay up & over into the bins. At the end of the hallway it went into the back corrals for all the cattle. We had lots of corncob fights across the hallway in those upper bins. There are some old pictures of them taking lunch out to all the farm workers in the fields, having lunch on blankets, circa 1910. Men dressed like cowboys, women in long dresses, Grandpa in a suit. Just a question, did they run over the outside with a giant magnet to pick up any lost screws & nails?

They did a fabulous job as it almost looks like a brand newly constructed barn; the fact that it's a repair and update is really a testament to it's original purpose. You and Kyle did a good job in picking out the company that's reflected in your barn's transformation. As an Engineer, I'm sure Kyle can appreciate the work that went into the barn's transformation. I love horse antics I could watch them all day. I wish I could show you a pix I got from my cousin today. When she is going to take her horse on the trailer to go for a ride she goes into a riding arena stall to get small bale hay. Her horse saw her go to get that and immediately assumed he was going on the trailer. She was calling him and he always comes. When he didn’t come she went out to the pasture to see if he went further off and didn’t hear her. Well she couldn’t find him! She finally spotted something not right behind some pines in the woods. There he was hiding 😂 when she sent the pic I was dieing laughing. I wish I was there to see that. He’s a smarty pants.

Morton makes very good buildings. Their doors are probably the smoothest performing of any of the pole buildings. We put up a Morton building in the ‘70s, and other than looking faded, it’s still in good shape.
