You’re right about the amount of possessions accumulated in land based situations .. when i moved house a while ago i THREW OUT about ten times your 300 kgs .. mostly unwanted stuff accumulated over the years and then needed a whole truck to transport the rest .. count yourselves lucky with your minimalist collection of possessions !!!!

A very emotional time for you. I know what it was like when I sold our 9.5 meter yacht after spending 3 years building it and you just end up with a small piece of paper (cheque). So...... the next step on your journey begins, and hence the question of what could be your next boat? In days of yore, I had a Hallberg Rassay, but always felt that when below, there must be more to sailing than just watching the grey ocean slipping past your windows and portholes. I then happened across a Swedish Fantasi 44 pilot house saloon, with a dark blue hull, which was docked in the berth opposite me when coming into a marina one day. It was for sale. I was totally smitten, and life was never the same again. Every time I see a photo of one ( they are of course, no longer made, but worth a look should you ever come across one,) my heart gulps a little, as she was more than just a yacht, and a huge wrench to part from, perhaps a bit like you departing from Rans 1 and 2. Having now seen the light, (though some would say I have moved to the dark side) I am now a confirmed performance cruising cat sailor, and would now never go back to a monohull again. As a suggestion, that might however, be a step too far for you, so seriously, why not consider a deck saloon, possibly swing keeled and around 49 feet plus? The space and light, both perceived and actual, adds a fantastic extra dimension to long-term, live-aboard life, especially as you are now 3 and not 2......happy hunting!

Welcome back home. As a teenager I used to clean charteryachts. So I have seen way larger piles of luggage on some yachts for only a week tour. Sometimes it was really crazy when they all came with the hardcases and had to unpack them and store them in the cars because there was not enough room.
