Congratulations on your move and glad you got your bedroom all cleaned up and ready to go. It must have been very frustrating knowing you had to be everywhere else but at the house for your furniture and boxes to arrive. Once you have a few rooms comfortable you'll be able to sit down happily and start planning your true renovations to the house. George is so happy it made me smile seeing all that energy and that he has already checked out his whole environment including the serving door. Oh wow the area is so stunning, what a truly lovely place to move to and explore, please take us along with some of your exploring, it's amazing seeing all the old buildings and roadways. Australia has little bits of England in the big cities that go back to settlement days and I just LOVE it all.

thank you so much lovely - yes absolutely - I do plan to make it as comfortable as possible for now and start planning what I will be doing for sure ! Even though the carpet is going down in the bedroom - I know it will be a temporary solution to a long term goal - I just need to get in to my own bed haaaaa I am so glad you enjoyed the area too - we cannot wait to explore more :)

Exciting times! I always have to change all the carpets when I move house. You never quite get rid of the previous owner's smell until they're all gone 👃🏻George using the hatch is hilarious 🐕🤣 My advice for the garden is to do a bit every week. Mine is a lot smaller than that but I fill the green bin every fortnight! 🌲🌳🌳

Honestly Chris it was the first thing I wanted to do - in every single room - but ..... The house needs a full electrical rewire :( literally one plug socket in bedroom. Pretty much exactly like the house we sold haaaaa so I didn't want to lay new carpet throughout until that is done - and that will not be done anytime soon cos I think it is gonna be ££££££££ That is great advice on the garden - do you pay for your garden bin? it is £40 a year here - and back in Essex it was £80 - we never paid for it in Essex cos it only just came in. lol gonna obviously pay here of course

@@athomewithclaire I know - we used to live in the UK in the 1990's...but in Croydon (im so so SORRY). LOL. No seriously, we had the best time. Coz i married a Brit, I only had a spouse visa so couldnt work, so i got involved in our local church and made a LOT of good friends. But yeah i know how your homes are. The first one we arrived in, twas November and had no central heating and they had removed every internal wall downstairs. He was gone 12 hours a day. After 6 months we moved to a basement flat - two rooms and back kitchen and tiny bath. Loved it. But Talk about cold and no sunshine shock. But somehow I thought you were in your 20's....NOPE. Im so pleased you have your own attic - ive in herited a wee amount of $$$, so i might afford a craft room to be built...we shall see. Our foundations are not built for two story's. SO SO excited for you. All those nooks and crannies - would make for such a fun house. Love it

@@athomewithclaireBesties!!! HIGH FIVE!! 🤣You make me laugh so much! Yes youre right about the sunlight shock. Ive always been heat intolerant and so i thought the UK would be awsome for me - but I didnt really realise that kids in deep winter go to school in the dark and came home in the dark. I made a lot of friends quickly and were SO happy there - we made such a happy life and my heart never really left it. 30 years later - I still think of and miss the friends i made at NLCC, they were the happiest days of my life. But one funny story. Remember I hate sun. I got on the 38 to Green park, (as hubbie worked I would have a lot of free time, so I wondered the streets of Lindon for weeks when we got there). Anyway, I saw this dude with a money belt next to deck chairs with a sign saying '1/2 hr - 50p', " in Green Park. ANd my head goes "WTF? What sad slapper is gonna PAY 50 p to sit in the sun...wierd!!! Well after the next 3 to 4 months of almost NO sun, I realised I would have paid ANYTHING for sun. But we got complacent, - on the June Bank holiday weekend, we got tog with other aussies for a BBQ and Pavlova - and we didnt use sunbllock - and we woke up the next day with severe sunstroke and burnt red like a deep fried lobster! Our body had lost ALL tolerance for the sun. When we arrived it was a November, and it was March 16 months later - and on the plane on the way home, coming into Adelaide, the only ONLY thought i had was sitting on our little beach (Adelaide is squished between the long coastal beach and the high Adelaide hills and farming land. And we did. We laid on the beach for days - and I HATE the beach. Sand, salt, urgh. But sun starvation is a thing. But we still miss ya all there - we never get rain, almost never. I never saw snow until I went to the UK, and here now I live like a Hobbit - I really miss the UK. Besties across the waters. You new bestie lives in Adelaide South Australia and you have free accom when you come to visit!

@@athomewithclaire I literally ran out of room for photos and framed art, so now, I have 3-4 pictures in each frame, one in front of the other… for each season I take them down (dust them) and rotate them accordingly…. I hope that made sense… for example, I have a frame on the mantle with pics of the grandkids it has 4 pics in it, one of them last Christmas, at the beach, in Halloween costumes etc… I just rotate which pic is in the front… I do this with photos and framed prints… all of that, to say, it saves space and I get different pics all year long… apparently I get bored easily…. Well from here your new carpet is tomorrow, exciting. What a great idea the cleaner was, you have enough to do when you move without worrying about the cleaning. I LOVE your yard. It’s going to be a bugger of a job getting your boxes up to the top floor, my craft stuff were the heaviest boxes we had when we moved and then up all those steps. Great house Claire, no wonder you’re excited. Don’t rush everything you’ll get it done, we were unpacking boxed 9 months later of stuff we didn’t use a lot, I think there’s still 3 boxes out there, 12 months in October since we moved. You can’t rush these things. LOL. Beautiful town mate, lucky you. Real cream, whipped, not cottage cream for me and put on however you like. Do Druids go to the stone age buildings? ❤️

ohhhh I agree - I will be absolutely shattered getting everything up there for sure ! I am so tempted to hire some movers to get it all upstairs lol I fully can see us still unpacking boxes in years to come - I labelled everything with a priority label haaaa so there will be things just not opened for a long while. As for druids - I am not sure - I know those are reconstructions but I will have to familiarise myself with the druid culture and see if there is one here :)

@@athomewithclaire. We came across some Druids when we were there for a holiday, very interesting, it was at Salisbury Hill???? They explained lots to us. Yeah being a copy maybe they wouldn’t go there, it was a true ancient spot where we were. Yeah a removalist is the go, they’d charge probably $100 an hour here in Oz but considering the problem you had getting one in the first place though, the one you did get was local. heyyyyyy lovely - yes it would be very sad for him - and I am sure - the people buying my house would most likely feel the same haaaa - even though I scrubbed and cleaned - another persons filth is just that. I feel like I left my house in a solid clean state but they might not haaaaa

maybe add some led lights on thos top stairs to craft room so you can light them up to see better? I would hate for you to fall down them because they are so dark. or perhaps add some small strips of a light color to go on them.

oooooo I love the idea of LED - yes it really is so so dark - as soon as my energy levels return - those carpets are coming up. I realised the carpets are the easy part - it's the carpet treads that are killers to remove haaa

Having moved many times create a small sane space. A place you can go that's all done and restful. I swear moving colds are more our bodies getting used to new environmental things. Enjoy. I love my cave but know that's not for everyone.

You're doing amazingly well in such a short space of time and accomplished a lot!! It will look stunning when it's all done, I'm sure. Moving home is one of the most stressful experiences and more so when there is work to be done on The new home. The day out is an excellent idea to de stress, I'll be having a few of them myself when I move - if I move, been so many delays but supposed to happen on 27th. I'm nervous, excited and wondering why I thought Northern Ireland was a good idea for my fresh start and new beginning 😂😂😂. I'm looking forwards to seeing your house progress!! How many boxes of art have you got? I've got 22 large boxes and no where to put them in new house, so will be garden shed for time being. I envy your new garden, it's gorgeous 😍

heyyyyyy lovely - oh my goodness you're moving to Northern Ireland? wow - that will be stunning - lots of fresh air :) I will keeep everything crossed for you that it happens on 27th :) I think that is the most stressful part - not knowing when the actual day is going to be and if it will happen. We had around 150 boxes total - I am trying to work out how many I ordered from Amazon lol too many basically

This was so fun, Claire! Thank Tim's daughter (again, I'm sure!) for doing the empty house tour for us! I hope you recover your new power washer! Those are *not cheap!* Ohhh, my gosh...all the CCC stuff is in the *_back of the garage?!?!?_* NOOOO! Oh, girl! ACK! I would've cried, too, if I had black dust all over my bedroom! UGH! Yep, that wallpaper MUST go! Can't have gluten breads (celiac), but...being American, we call them scones (long o). Found out this year, it's properly called "skons". Who knew!? I make my own clotted cream (which is long-baked heavy cream, easy-peasy!), as Americans don't seem to even know what it is, and it's to DIE for! I think the word "clotted" puts us off. 😆 I mean...clotted? Really? They couldn't have come up with a better word? LOL I put on my cream, first, THEN the jam, thankyouverymuch! Oh, that park was amazing! Thanks for the look 'round, Claire!

Have you registered with a doctors surgery yet? Are you sure the ‘shock effect’ cold, isn’t new allergies, due to a bigger garden & more plants & trees in the area? It all looks lovely, but hard work to decorate how you want it. I look forward to watching your progress. It must be wonderful living closer to Tim’s daughter & your grand son. I’m excited for you all!
