Claire, it's funny, I was so happy to move from a 1950's house to one built in 1998. But I really miss the old 1950's walls. The nails are popping out from the drywall! Oh, for not having to remove the nails and replace them with screws and patch the walls 😂😂😂. But I moved into the country also. It was the best decision my hubby and I could have made. I know you will enjoy your new garden. ❤. Here's a tip... don't put in flower beds, talk about high maintenance!😂

ahhhh honestly - this is my first brick house I have always lived in concrete construction - so just having a brick house is a novelty I have no idea how to hang stuff on walls - hoping it is straight forward haaaaa Also - I would have absolutely loved like a New Build dream home but wow - so so expensive here in the same breath - I craved a fireplace and character of old :)

Exciting times! I always have to change all the carpets when I move house. You never quite get rid of the previous owner's smell until they're all gone 👃🏻George using the hatch is hilarious 🐕🤣 My advice for the garden is to do a bit every week. Mine is a lot smaller than that but I fill the green bin every fortnight! 🌲🌳🌳
@athomewithclaire2 күн бұрын
Honestly Chris it was the first thing I wanted to do - in every single room - but ..... The house needs a full electrical rewire :( literally one plug socket in bedroom. Pretty much exactly like the house we sold haaaaa so I didn't want to lay new carpet throughout until that is done - and that will not be done anytime soon cos I think it is gonna be ££££££££ That is great advice on the garden - do you pay for your garden bin? it is £40 a year here - and back in Essex it was £80 - we never paid for it in Essex cos it only just came in. lol gonna obviously pay here of course

Actual tears of joy, for you, Tim and George. I know George is going to love living there. You will make it yours and it will be perfect for you all. I’ve never seen an outside bathroom. As a Leo, we definitely get overwhelmed and shut down, till we are ready to re-energize. It’s amazing. Cheers to your new home. We had radiator’s in my childhood home and you just completely triggered that memory! Filthy yes. Moving is one of the top 3 biggest stressors in a persons life. The good news is that you will get through it, in true Claire fashion. So happy you are filming this part!!❤ PS: you are going to have legs of steel with those steps. I miss mine!

Congratulations on your move and glad you got your bedroom all cleaned up and ready to go. It must have been very frustrating knowing you had to be everywhere else but at the house for your furniture and boxes to arrive. Once you have a few rooms comfortable you'll be able to sit down happily and start planning your true renovations to the house. George is so happy it made me smile seeing all that energy and that he has already checked out his whole environment including the serving door. Oh wow the area is so stunning, what a truly lovely place to move to and explore, please take us along with some of your exploring, it's amazing seeing all the old buildings and roadways. Australia has little bits of England in the big cities that go back to settlement days and I just LOVE it all.

Him finding the pass through, he’s so clever!! 🥰🥰🥰

ohhhh thank jyou so much xx yeh he is a sausage honestly - if either of us go to the kitchen he is now bashing on the door haaaa I cannot wait to decorate the fireplace literally all I wanna do haaaaaa and yes - the shelves I have here will absolutely go in to the garage at some stage - I want this room to be open and airy - I also want my ornaments and photos to be seen so I am not so sure yet how to have both - without the units. I may make shelves or another console to fit and just display a few photos and rotate
@roygarcia41762 күн бұрын
@@athomewithclaire I literally ran out of room for photos and framed art, so now, I have 3-4 pictures in each frame, one in front of the other… for each season I take them down (dust them) and rotate them accordingly…. I hope that made sense… for example, I have a frame on the mantle with pics of the grandkids it has 4 pics in it, one of them last Christmas, at the beach, in Halloween costumes etc… I just rotate which pic is in the front… I do this with photos and framed prints… all of that, to say, it saves space and I get different pics all year long… apparently I get bored easily…. Those are *not cheap!* Ohhh, my gosh...all the CCC stuff is in the *_back of the garage?!?!?_* NOOOO! Oh, girl! ACK! I would've cried, too, if I had black dust all over my bedroom! UGH! Yep, that wallpaper MUST go! Can't have gluten breads (celiac), but...being American, we call them scones (long o). Found out this year, it's properly called "skons". Who knew!? I make my own clotted cream (which is long-baked heavy cream, easy-peasy!), as Americans don't seem to even know what it is, and it's to DIE for! I think the word "clotted" puts us off. 😆 I mean...clotted? Really? They couldn't have come up with a better word? LOL I put on my cream, first, THEN the jam, thankyouverymuch! Oh, that park was amazing! Thanks for the look 'round, Claire!

Well from here your new carpet is tomorrow, exciting. What a great idea the cleaner was, you have enough to do when you move without worrying about the cleaning. I LOVE your yard. It’s going to be a bugger of a job getting your boxes up to the top floor, my craft stuff were the heaviest boxes we had when we moved and then up all those steps. Great house Claire, no wonder you’re excited. Don’t rush everything you’ll get it done, we were unpacking boxed 9 months later of stuff we didn’t use a lot, I think there’s still 3 boxes out there, 12 months in October since we moved. You can’t rush these things. LOL. Beautiful town mate, lucky you. Real cream, whipped, not cottage cream for me and put on however you like. Do Druids go to the stone age buildings? ❤️
@athomewithclaire2 күн бұрын
ohhhh I agree - I will be absolutely shattered getting everything up there for sure ! I am so tempted to hire some movers to get it all upstairs lol I fully can see us still unpacking boxes in years to come - I labelled everything with a priority label haaaa so there will be things just not opened for a long while. As for druids - I am not sure - I know those are reconstructions but I will have to familiarise myself with the druid culture and see if there is one here :)
@paulinehiggins82392 күн бұрын
@@athomewithclaire. We came across some Druids when we were there for a holiday, very interesting, it was at Salisbury Hill???? They explained lots to us. Yeah being a copy maybe they wouldn’t go there, it was a true ancient spot where we were. Yeah a removalist is the go, they’d charge probably $100 an hour here in Oz but considering the problem you had getting one in the first place though, the one you did get was local. Good luck mate, enjoy your new house. Claire’s Crafty Corner will have a whole new meaning now I know the story behind it.

The day out is an excellent idea to de stress, I'll be having a few of them myself when I move - if I move, been so many delays but supposed to happen on 27th. I'm nervous, excited and wondering why I thought Northern Ireland was a good idea for my fresh start and new beginning 😂😂😂. I'm looking forwards to seeing your house progress!! Are you going to replace the carpet on the stairs? Or Are you going to stain the stairs? George is so so cute 🥰🥰

heyyyyy my lovely - yes the dark is coming up eventually - right now - I want to paint the stairs and have a stair runner in the middle - but that could change by next week - and then change again haaaa I just know I want it to be much much lighter and feel airy and fresh :) xxx

England had no indoor plumbing in 1950’s?
@athomewithclaire3 күн бұрын
yes - England had indoor plumbing in the 1950's haa but also outdoor toilets were a thing too so lots of houses have knocked them down by now - but many have kept them standing :)

I love the bathroom,,,what’s wrong with it?
@athomewithclaire2 күн бұрын
Heyyyy Anna - so the bathroom looks great but it is in a state of disrepair. We have a survey done on the house. All of the tiles around the bath and shower have fully blown. The seal around the bath is in decay - the units in the bathroom are severely damaged and warping. It is all cosmetic - but a new bathroom will be in at some stage - not this year unless I win lottery haaaaaa

Why not improve lighting? That would be good for safety.
@athomewithclaire3 күн бұрын
