Justin, you have the necessary experience needed to do YOUR job and do it well. Always learn from your mistakes. Truck number 120 sure is a beauty but in reality, they all are! I laughed my butt off when you covered your face before showing the anteater number 124. That was hilarious. In four decades of trucking, I connected with 3 deer but avoided countless others. Count your blessings as your future is bright. Doug Baird.

Got to ignore the haters, trucking seems to have an above average number of them. I drove transport for a local oil company here in PA, they ran 4 transports and about 8 or 9 delivery trucks. There were times when the owner would climb in a transport to help out if a guy was off or a gas station would run out. I had tremendous respect for that man every time he climbed in a truck and ran with us and I'm sure your drivers feel the same.

Years ago when I worked for McDonald's we got our supplies in out of St. Johns, MI. Truck was late one day (normally there at 5 am). Driver had hit a deer a few miles out of St. Johns. The deer tried to jump between the cab and reefer, the reefer hit it and it fell into the wheels, gut slung up into the bottom of the trailer, snagged the landing gear, banged off the roller rack storage box, then thrown off the trailer wheel into the liftgate on the rear of the trailer. Once we unloaded our stuff I had to hose down the truck because there was blood blown all over one side of the trailer from the reefer all the way back and bits of deer hung up underneath the trailer anywhere it could find a spot to rip a chunk off. The only damage seemed to be the reefer unit which had its shell crushed in, but still ran ok, at least enough to finish the run to other stores after ours.

You always get the deer with the new equipment. My boss put a new bumper on my Pete, had it for a day and a half when I hit a deer, 60mph, loaded at 107,000lbs. Bent the bumper to the the tire, bent the rock guard and rolled the front fender a bit. Pulled the bumper out with the forklift and could hardly tell. A couple months later hit another deer. EXACT. SAME. DAMAGE. And dented the fuel tank.

@@sheilasembly-crum8447 it’s like when your used to driving new BMW’s and Porsche cars and then dad takes it away for awhile and sticks you in a 1963 VW Bug. There’s nothing “wrong” with it per say, it runs good and gets you point a to point b and back to point a again each day but it’s not something your gonna call your friends about and brag about “look what I’m driving today” type of thing. Pete’s and Kenworth trucks to many drivers are the king of the road. Has been that way for decades. But when some of these new trucks came out, they were more aerodynamic, more fuel efficient, more comfortable, easier to drive, hell, they even put automatics in them so bois that were intimidated by a big stick could get one and stand up and finally say in his high pitch tone “I’m a trucker” so there’s nothing that happened with 124, it’s just a man thing I guess you could say, Pete and KW carry all the testosterone of the trucking world and all the others drive the Volvo’s and other trucks on the market, they are ok trucks, they move the freight but they just don’t get it there as fast or have that old time beastly truck look and feel to it and they don’t capture the respect that the Pete’s and KW’s do but they do give the driver a comfy ride getting there. Hope this helps you understand a bit better Sheila , sorry for the long answer tho

Get leaks through other things too but that doesn't help it. Really big water leaks from people who don't put sealant tape on windshields when replacing them I kid you not on that one.
