For me Iloilo City is the best place to retired. Its naturally bias from your girlfriend to overhype her hometown Dumaquete which nothing to offer except their self to foreigner.
@denillearenga7274 Жыл бұрын
they also wonder why not much of people they didnt know almost 95% of ilonggos are working, around 4pm traffic jam started. they didn't review well what the iloilo can offer. number 1 healthcare very important, education etc... Dumaguete need more development, what only they can offer is beaches that's it, nothing else.

Gio, I'm glad that you visited Iloilo. I am a Canadian who has been married to a gwapa middle-class Ilonga (malambing!!) for 30 years. We built a house in Iloilo 10 years ago and we visit every year. We will move to Iloilo full-time soon. I feel blessed to be a part of Iloilo City. We admire Mayor Jerry Trenas for all the improvements he has made, like developing the most advanced bicycling system in the Philippines. Iloilo is very clean, modern and has very friendly conservative people. It is known as the 'City of Love' and the 'Queen City of the South'. I hope you enjoyed your visit!

Review is okay, but I believe the viewers prefer more footage of the actual place(s) you visit. People want to see more of what you are talking about. Or maybe do a bunch of b-roll footage with the audio review overtop of video. Just my 2 cents as a traveler/videographer myself.

For Iloilo expat vlogs, I watch Tim of Tito Tim Travels and James of Texas Filipino. I also watch a Filipino vlogger Nonoy of Agimat_TV who does walking tours and drone shots of Iloilo city. When he does speak or puts captions in his vlogs, he uses mostly English so that's helps us who don't speak their language understand what's going on. Mike of My Philippine Journey did a lot of vlogs on Iloilo. Sadly he passed away several years ago.

In terms of retiring, I choose Iloilo City but with a catch. Because of all the projects going on, constructions and the noise will be over the city. Secondly, cost of living will be going up. Iloilo city has better hospitals, food, housing and happy hours than in Bacolod and Dumaguete. Like food it's an acquired taste living in a rural or urban area. We have Aswang in Iloilo and Batman in Negros.

There are many expatriates in ILOILO, but most are family men, and most like to stay in the comfort of their homes with their wives and children. Unlike in other cities where the expatriates are bar and beer hoppers, Iloilo is decent . A great city with parks and plazas, heritage buildings, palatial mansions, museums and Art Galleries. Nice restaurants. The city is clean, green, European beautiful, and modern and decent.

Many travel vloggers have made a circuit of the four big festivals in the Visayas: Sinulog in Cebu (January), Dinagyang in Iloilo (January), Ati-Atihan in Kalibo (January), Masskara in Bacolod (October).

Nice review guys, I enjoyed 5 nights in Iloilo in 2020. I went primarily for the Dinigyang festival after Sinulog in Cebu. My AirBnB was near the Smallville complex, which was quite nice. I had a great Batchoy in Netongs which was recommended to me. Overall Iloilo is nice, modern and clean, but few foreigners and I saw no age gap couples. I originally booked a couple of nights in Guimaras, but stayed four, as it wasn’t too touristy. I probably wouldn’t go back as there are so many places that I still haven’t seen.

Ok, there are 6-7 main roads through all of the city, many of the smaller roads are in bad condition, dead ends etc. U pretty much have to stick to most of the so called main roads to get around this city. All the people are in K-Town in the evening after 18.00 or so. Smallville is not so hot any longer. It feels like it's on the downturn. Areas of interest would probably be K-Town & Festive Mall - the Megaworld area, SM City Mall and Robinson's down in City Proper. Down there is also JM Basa, street market with clothes, belts, socks, fruits etc, but mainly clothes I think. The riverwalk/esplanade/boardwalk streches all along the main river from Molo all the way almost to the Ocean. The southern boardwalk actually goes around City Proper until just b4 Ortiz Wharf. It kind of goes to the ferry terminal(s) on the south side of City Proper. Along the esplanade there are larger areas for skating, bmx bicycling, dancing/performances and even restrooms. Condos in Megaworld are super nice, very luxury and not too expensive yet. Concerning the Batchoy, u're eating inerts... so it's not gonna taste like filet mignon... Haven't really been around and/or outside the city but to the north it looks nice and pretty along the road north of Zarraga.

I grew up within the city and was residing in Negros Occidental my parents' home province. I would go to Dumaguete just to past boredom either pass the mountains to Bais or the seaside by Hinoba-an. I would start early in the morning and get lunch in Dumaguete and be back home by dinner. I would also do the same to Iloilo and much earlier to get the first Ferry and eat Lapaz Batchoy for breakfast and lunch in Tatoys. Then be back to Negros Occidental for dinner. I never been to Ted's Lapaz Batchoy ever when I'm in Iloilo. I only go to Deco's if I'm in Lapaz, instead a side of Puto they instead serve Puto Lanson (Balinghoy). I make Puto Lanson and know how to make it compared to just a Puto.

Unfortunately Iloilo is Not like Cebu or other Cities with Natures, white beaches to exploit and use for Urbanization. Because of its location, Iloilo need to make a lot of effort compared to Those Cities just to promote the place but still Manages to rise and be known. The City tried a lot of Activities just to promote the City and Attract investors. It may not be as Great as other cities, or maybe hyped for some but we can feel that our local government is trying their best to make the city Great.
