Hello! Love this episode. I wanted to add a few of my own MUST PACK items for travel safety/health. 1) ACTIVATED CHARCOAL pills - food poisoning, tummy virus. You can also break pill down into powder for bug bites, etc. 2) BENADRYL tablets. Not sure about spray you mentioned, but you may need to INGEST a pill for a bee sting, or for severe allergic reactions. 3) IMODIUM for diarrhea. Thankfully I've never had to use it, but was prepared for PHAROAH's REVENGE (just in case) while in Egypt. 4) BAR OF SOAP - Not only do hostels and bathrooms not always have soap, but a simple bar can be used for handwashing clothes too. 5) TOILET PAPER - Some countries you have to pay for TP, so pack your PAPER, or if anything, add a bunch of kleenex into a sandwich bag, etc. 6) Small portable, rechargeable USB fan. These things are a lifesaver for hot planes/trains, cramped seating. Even mosquitoes/flies don't like to fly where there's a breeze. 7) A POSITIVE ATTITUDE goes a long way to better health and experiences! :) :)

Practical: a sarong! Like your towel it can be a pillow, blanket, cover up, scarf, towel, and it folds down to nothing! Toiletries: exfoliating gloves. They're small and perfect to scrub away the dirt from travelling. Technology: Kindle Fire as I love reading but books take up so much space, and the Fire doubles as a tablet. Health: tiger balm! It stops insect bites itching and acts as a repellent, soothes achey and sore muscles, and it smells really good! Games: a good old pack of cards 😊

Regarding the bamboo cups: new studies showed, that hot beverages like coffee tend to release chemicals from the compound that the bamboo is glued/sealed with. And in lots of those bamboo cups the chemicals used are toxic to the human, in certain cheap brands for example, the found formaldehyde based compounds. Therefor I would not use these for anything but cold drinks!

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy says to always have a towel. Good on you for having one.

A towel, [The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy] says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

Great video with good suggestions. Some of our favorite travel items are: little battery candles from Dollar Tree for bathroom night light, travel clothes line with built in elastic to hang up clothes - Lewis & Clark has nice one in a tiny mesh bag, Heat blanket that is thin and unfolds for emergencies- also used it to direct light for photography - get at any camping store or Walmart, a deck of cards - who doesn't know one or 2 card games, zippered pillowcase- use on the plane as a pillow by inserting my coat, shouldit scarf with zippered pockets- they have a website - stuff it with earbuds, meds, mints , lip gloss, wipes, that I need on a plane, motion sickness wrist band - good for planes, trains, auto and boats - I don't usually get motion si knead but I wear them anyways - especially on cruises. Look forward to more of your videos.

Something I've found helpful when traveling is limiting the color palette of my wardrobe. I take only basic pieces like pants, t-shirts, a button down shirt, a skirt or dress if desired and a couple of tank tops for layering. I take just a few colors that all go with each other like tan, black, white, dark blue and red, or whatever two to three colors you like best, that can be worn in any combination. It makes it seem like I have a huge wardrobe with me because I can make at least a dozen different outfits with only about ten different pieces.

Good list! A good idea would be to bring a carabiner to attach your purse or bag to a chair with slats so it cannot be lifted. Another idea is to use a hard eyeglasses case that hinges to carry small items like earrings. Happy travels!

Thank You, I've missed you both...Great tips! I'm a flight attendant, and I have almost the same items except on a smaller scale. I carry a nylon shopping bag at all times when I'm out and about because many stores outside the US don't have or often charge extra for plastic. One item I might add is a few ziplock quart sized bags. Some security checkpoints only allow those for liquid toiletries. A bonus on ziplocks: if you're out and about and it starts to rain, or on an excursion with water, they can be a semi safe spot for electronics!

I totally agree with bringing bar soaps and bar shampoos. It's practical and it's environment friendly. Thank you for this video and your travel essentials totally makes sense. One thing I can suggest as my travel essential is bringing along a travel sheet (I use the Brave Era Silk travel sheet). It's pure silk and it protects me from bed bugs and dirty hotel sheets. We never know if the hotel sheets are clean or if they are even washed. It's a game changer and I love telling other travelers about this.

Instead of the red shoulder bag you guys use we use the fabric ones that fit inside a tiny snap bag that then clips on the outside of my day backpack with a carabiner. They also make backpack versions too. We use them for everything (dragging dirty clothes to a laundry mat, souvenirs, grocery shopping, and they’re so lightweight we can fill them with beach clothes and then hang that on our backpack so our hands remain free but we don’t have our day pack filled with wet beach clothes next to my camera gear and passport.

You should rinse the micellar water off if you can as it's a detergent which isn't great for skin...but I agree, if you have no access to water, it's great in a pinch. If you do have access to water, a microfibre cloth is incredible for removing make up and you can clean it immediately and quickly with some soap. Thanks for some great recs - I love the look of those laundry strips!

@@listay1 Travel scissors are a "must have" for me and I bring them on every trip. I have a small foldable pair in a pouch that does the trick & complies w/ TSA requirements. According to TSA, If packed in carry-on, they must be less than 4 inches from the pivot point. Any sharp objects in checked bags should be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury to baggage handlers and inspectors.

Before we bought our own snorkeling equipment, we used the antibacterial spray on the public snorkel sets from group excursions. Don't put liquids with a temperature over 70°C into the bamboo cups. The glue which is used for production to keep the fibres together, will get into the liquid and then you drink the pollutants.

My biggest tip: Never go ANYWHERE without anti-diarrhea medicine. The last thing you want is to be stuck on a plane or a bus and find yourself in need of it. Also, you don't want to have to act out "I have diarrhea" in a pharmacy of a foreign country where you don't speak the language!

My fav thing for itchy bites is a hot spoon. The itching is caused by proteins from the insect and they get destroyed by heat. I make myself a cup of tea, put the spoon in the hot water and dab it carefully several times on the bite. Usually it stops itching immediately. And it’s basically free.

Some hotels have plastic drawstring "valet laundry" bags usually stored on the shelf above the rod in the closet, but sometimes with the non-refrigerated "honor bar" items. Usually they are free, but sometimes they cost a dollar or two. Those bags are great for shoes or damp bathing suits and beach towels, too.

Instead of any liquids for face try this instead: small screw top container of old fashioned cold cream (I use Jergens or Ponds) and a baggie of facial wipes cut in half. Apply the cold cream, remove with wipe and your face is clean, make up free and moisturized all in one. No need for any liquids or separate facial moisturizer. The cream doesn't move when upside down so you do NOT have to inclue in your TSA liquid bag. This is a never fail for me!

Hi Allison. I use 100% cocoa powder as dry shampoo (organic when I find it) It's cheap and natural. I'm a brunette so it's works amazing for me. Before I discovered the cocoa powder I used to use corn starch, also cheap, but won't smell nice and lemony like the lush one 😉 to apply I use a makeup powder brush because sprinkling directly from a container seems to get everywhere! Thought this might be useful to you or someone else reading the comments!

I recommend replacing the bottle of Tums with Zantec (or a generic substitute available at most grocery or big box stores). It takes up a lot less space, one tiny pill will do the trick, and no chewing on chalk (and needing to brush your teeth after). I pack my vitamins in little baggies so that I am not schlepping the bottles around. By the way, you both look great - rested and healthy.

I travel with a bar of shaving soap and one of those old fashioned shaving brushes. Doesn't count against your liquids allowance, and it works better than you'd think. I also always have a baggie with some disposable disinfectant wipes. Airplane trays are some of the dirtiest surfaces on the planet. I also always wipe down bathroom fixtures and TV remote controls when I check in to a BnB or hotel. Hotel rooms in particular are notorious sources of infection. A typical maid will spend (maybe) 10 minutes per room when cleaning, and they use the same rag for every surface. Also a good idea to have a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you, especially when you're flying.

Great tips and very useful ideas. One BIG concern, however, is that during your presentation of hand sanitizer and your love of petting animals, I immediately thought of RABIES in dogs and cats. I read of a young nurse-tourist who befriended a cute stray puppy which lightly scratched her while playing. Sadly when she returned home weeks later she developed rabies and died. I am brand new to your channel and maybe you’ve covered this topic. I only ask that you exercise extreme caution if you continue to interact with animals overseas and research Rabies if you have not already done so. I’ve heard good things about getting a Trtl neck pillow for travel. It looks like a scarf around your neck but there is a little ledge thing in it to support your neck if you have a wobbly head when snoozing (like me). This may sound odd but you can brush your teeth with just neat toothpaste ( before you swill your mouth out with water later). A dental hygienist recommended that to me so you can save water if you need to. Do you have Compeed plasters ( band aids) in America? Holy moly you can thank me later. These are amazing! All different shapes and sizes for different areas of the feet and they stay on for SO long! Great for long walks Best from the UK xx

Yes Yes YES to the turtle neck pillow. The big bulky donut ones never helped me & they are a pain to carry. The turtle works no matter which position you sleep...worked fantastic on the 16hr flight yo africa

You are missing a trick with the baby wipes, they are fantastic for cleaning stains out of clothes. As long as the stain has not dried they are great!

Thanks for showing us your must have items and getting such a close up of each item. I have watched since you carried the rolling backpacks so can you give an update on how your new suitcases are working out ? As for my must have is a clock. I have trouble when I wake up in a strange place and want to check the time without blinding myself with my phone. It's large enough numbers so I can see it without my glasses and the numbers are red so it's not too bright.

Great items guide. My recommendation would be to replace your tablets with a Garlic, C, Horseradish tablet. That's just me I believe it give more coverage. Cheers Scotty

The Lush dry shampoo is also good for stinky sweaty shoes. It absorbs the smell and any moisture, plus the added scent helps too. But watch out, TSA is now putting restrictions on the size of powders in carry ons.

Please be very careful when petting animals abroad. A Norwegian girl just died from rabies after playing with a puppy in the Philippines. Sharp puppy teeth barley gave her a scratch and she cleaned the wound right away (she was a nurse). She was @bkallestad on Instagram (her name was made public by her family). That was the first time in 200 years anyone died from rabies in Norway.
