😢 poor Ryan and poor Pepper. Talk about a white knuckle experience. When you started pulling that log Melodi, all I could think of was the multiple surgeries you went through before, and how it might destroy all that repair work. Praying hard for a resolution to this epic conundrum. Lots of ❤🙏🙏🙏

❤You all have about given me a stroke. This was such an horrific turn of events! I just wanted to cry for you but tears have never made any changes for me so I prayed for you which is always my "go to" help in times of trouble. 🙏 Times like this when neighbors are a big help. Ryan must be sore from his head to his toes. What a worker he is! It touches my heart to hear the way you two speak to one another. I can hear and feel the love and respect each of you have for the other. It truly must have been in God's divine plan to put you together. I hope y'all get the Kubota out. I'm not sure when this was recorded. Please take care and try to rest as you can. Thank you for being the amazing people you are and for being a friend. Love, hugs, and prayers from Tennessee.❤🙏

I am sure you were able to successfully get Pepper out by now. I think you need to have cinch blocks available around the island. Double your winching power. Lots of good tow truck video to watch. Might ever be an idea to get a winch mounted on Pepper. A sure fire way to save time and trouble. Can’t wait for the next episode to see how you succeed in freeing Pepper. Melodi stay spine safe PLEASe!

Definitely need a snatch block for this type of recovery. I have seen Jeeps with only a 10,000lb winch, winch out excavators with snatch blocks. Good thing to have with you lol. Also being cable, you should have something drooped over the line so if it snaps it falls to the ground and doesn't snap back as far or as wild.

You need shackles, pulleys to hook to them and a long steel cable . Hook the cable to the skid steer and up the hill to a pulley. Up high would be good. Run it back to the skid steer and around a pulley and back up the hill and hooked to your winch and a good battery. The winch now has a power advantage of at least three to one. If it’s still not strong enough. Just add another pulley and try it again. Bring in some river rock if you can find it. It will pack harder than regular gravel and give you better traction. Bring in a lot of it you can find it. All you have is sand from the floods and clay. That the gray stuff you have been digging up. If all else fails just call the company you are renting it from and tell them to come get it. Instead of a skid steer. I would just get a flail forester mulcher for the front of your John Deer. It will transform your island with in days. Plus next year you get to do it all over again. The weeds just won’t have as many vines and the trees not quite as big. Good Luck to both of you. Later.

I wish we had a gravel source on the island somewhere, but haven't found one yet. Only sand. Lots and lots (and lots) of sand. We are looking at obtaining pulleys, bow shackles and other rigging gear to help us out of the future jam we are sure to find ourselves in one day. Thank you for watching! -Ryan.

Hello was thinking about this situation of getting pepper stuck in the mub. I wanted to add my .02 cent here. I was very sorry to see you struggling to getting pepper out. I used a tee pee with heaving logs, at the top of the logs tieing a chain on the top to support the winch. Then use the winch to life up the side where the wheel was stucked. Just like you were thinking of putting planks under the back end. I use to drive through the sand pits and got stuck. We used a wench to lift the side of the car that the wheel, that was stuck. Once this wheel was high enough, put wood under neath the wheel and drive out. One reason we did this was that usually no place to tie the winch on. Sorry for adding my comment so late jst found this side. I enjoy watcing theses video and wish both of you well and can't wait to see what you set up on the island. Best of luck and God Bless both of you.

Put blocks in front of the thing & use the bucket to lift the right track up put blocks underneath it
@mywildholm

Yeah... we tried something like that (not on film) but it was so soupy that the bucket just drove the blocks deep into the mud. It was a nightmare actually. The winch wasn't mounted either, which was problematic. I wish I would have had snatch blocks, they would have helped us get out way sooner. Thanks so much for the suggestion! -Ryan

One suggestion that I used to do when I got stuck, I would use the bucket in front. I would raise it up, and turn the bucket under like I was going to dump the contents as far as it would go. Drop the bucket deep, then make the bucket turn outward letting the bucket push the tractor backward while driving it backward. That should get it unstuck but it may take several tries.
@mywildholm
@mywildholm 2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks Jim, I actually tried that but because we were high centered I couldn't get any traction and there was so much suction that all the bucket did was move dirt around without actually moving the Kubota an inch. But thanks so much for the suggestion! (Ryan)

The winch is only 20000 pound when its all the way out the more wraps on the winch the weaker it gets
@mywildholm
@mywildholm 19 күн бұрын
Right. This makes sense to me. The winch is like a transmission... right? When the spool is empty, each revolution advances the load a distance of X, say. When the spool is thick with windings, each revolution now advances the load a distance of X * n. A spool thick with windings has a larger circumference so each revolution pulls in more cable than the last, advancing the load farther and also causing the load to speed up with each revolution. I compare this to a 10 speed bike... The shorter front gear (at the pedal hub) takes less effort to pedal and drives you forward at a slow pace with each revolution as you pedal. The taller front gear requires way more effort per revoution, and drives you faster with each pedal stoke. Thank you for the lesson in mechanical motion, and thanks for watching! -Ryan
