Do you have to use the contact paper being that the vinyl is already sticky?

My luck, id wake up with the word on my face. How on earth are you getting sharpie to work on this?
@CrystalGrayArt6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you'd have it on your face. I don't recommend sleeping with them, I use them for decorative purposes only. I don't have an issue at all with the sharpie working at all. The only one that I had a problem with is any of the pillows that are light pink, for some reason all of the light pink pillows, no matter the shape, do not work with the sharpie method.

Yea i wouldnt sleep with it, just being silly 😊 but thanks for the help!

Once you flip to the other side do you press before adding decal?
@CrystalGrayArt6 жыл бұрын
Hi Richelle! Yes, I press each side before I add the vinyl that I am using for the stencil.

I don't understand why the need for the heat press. You said it helps tremendously but I'm not sure you said why it helps and perhaps I missed that. Can you explain please? Thanks!
@CrystalGrayArt6 жыл бұрын
The heat press isn't a "HAVE TO" thing, however, it does help, in my honest opinion having done them with & without. The reason that it does help for 1 it helps to get the sequin to lay as flat as possible before putting on the vinyl for stenciling & for 2 the warmth of the heat being on the sequins after heat pressing helps your vinyl to adhere to the sequins better allowing you to have a better hold therefore you won't have parts of your vinyl coming up while you are filling in your stencil. Now with that all being said, yes, you can do all of this without using the heat press. This is just the method that I have found that works best for me & that is why I shared it in my tutorial. Please feel free to use either method that works best for you.

What font are you using?
@CrystalGrayArt6 жыл бұрын
Hi Melanie ! Thanks for stopping by ! I used Magnolia Script font. The link to the font is in the description box below the video. In case you are mobile & can't view it properly, you can find it on dafont (dot) com ! Hope that helps ! =) Happy Crafting !! =)

Will it work for regular sharpy?
@CrystalGrayArt6 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are regular sharpies just larger sizes. You can use regular size sharpies just make sure you go over it making sure you have full coverage. With regular size sharpies, it will take a bit longer but it can be done! =)

The pillow I have has a zipper on it. Would it be easier to do with the Pillow out of the cover and just flat? Don' t know if that would mess with the heat pressing.
@CrystalGrayArt6 жыл бұрын
You can do it either way. If you do it without the pillow in it, once you place the pillow back in it after using the sharpie, you will notice that the design will have gaps that will need to be filled in. So, you may want to just keep the pillow inside the case & design with it in. The zipper will be just fine in the heat press since you are only doing it for short presses. =)
@deborahpierce12356 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice. I think I will leave the pillow in the case.

sharpie pro not sticking to sequence, why?
@CrystalGrayArt6 жыл бұрын
Hello & Good Morning Erenee ! I'm sorry to hear you aren't having any luck with the Sharpie Pro marker. What we have noticed with ANY of the sharpie markers is that some of the sequin materials, specifically the light pink/silver combination ones, for some reason repel the markers. I'm not sure what color combo you are trying to personalize, however, this may be the issue. We don't understand what the difference is that is making them repel the marker, however, it really is frustrating to say the least. All of the other color combos that we have done, which are several, have worked amazingly. Perhaps you could try a paint pen or spray paint. I'm not sure how well these methods work since I haven't personally done them, but I have seen other crafters use those to personalize their pillows. I apologize that I couldn't be of more help or have more answers for you.

Thank you for getting back to me. It is a silver I am trying to do and I have tried spray paint as well with no luck. Someone had suggested to flip on the other side, which is a blue, maybe I will just for testing purposes, but I wanted this for my daughters birthday which is today, lol nothing like last minute gifts lol. anyways I guess lesson learned. Again thank you for getting back to me

I'm having that same issue with sharpie pro on a gold/silver pillow. I've decided to let it dry and go back over it. Will repeat as often as it takes. Not sure it won't rub off later but worth a try. For the other side I'm going to try wiping the surface off with alcohol before putting the stencil on to see if it needs to be degreased like we do on other projects. So excited about this project tho and I'm sure I'll find a solution. I've been dying for a reason to buy one of these pillows for myself!

After more research I now know that there's a difference between Sharpie Pro and Sharpie Pro MAGNUM. I bought Pro at Walmart but not Pro Magnum. The description for Magnum on Amazon reads as follows: "Recommended for use on concrete, stone, tile, brick, metal, plastics, wood, foil, boxes, poster board, vinyl and wax paper. Works well on wet and oily surfaces." So now I know!
@ereneemclam21636 жыл бұрын
So im not sure if this is going to be an issue, but I remembered that when I was checking out of the store, the cashier said that the pillow washes well, I didnt think much of it at the time, but maybe there is scotch guard in the sequins? I wonder if the Pro Magnum will still work on it? hmmm thanks for getting back to me
