I finally came to the conclusion after watching today's video. I am kind of a picky eater. As I have aged I notice my taste has gotten really touchy. HOWEVER I don't think that I wouldn't eat whatever you put on my plate! You must have the healthiest children in all of Australia! We need a cookbook from you. I know how busy you are and everything going on around the homestead, but maybe something later on. Love you Darrell and the children, take care stay cool, and will be ready for your next video!😊

You probably know this but if you keep your veggie scraps in a bag in the freezer you can make veggie broth when you get enough. Like the tops and tails of the carrots and such.
@OurSmallFootprint
@OurSmallFootprint 11 сағат бұрын
We generally feed them to the animals hehe, is nice for them to have the fresh bits of veg too! :D. I keep certain things, like the tops of celery I freeze, but carrots and stuff we tend to give to the animals and just use whole carrots when I'm making stock :D

I have a manual spiralizer and since I only use it every couple of months, that's fine for me. We use it for egg roll in a bowl or as fillings for wontons or regular egg rolls. Sometimes, if I'm feeling extra fancy, I'll use it for salads. My daughter's not a fan of the cold rolls but I personally love them. I add a satay style peanut sauce inside and to dip them in.

Yes, I don't think it is something I would use constantly, but I got it cheap because I was a consultant, so it was worth buying and trying out! and to have JIC I want to use it :D

They're such a nice treat, and a little different than just a plate full of salad! The kids enjoy making them too, I just do the first lot nice and full of 'everything' before they can make their next lot with whatever they want hehe.

Very nice video. I’ve just started making rice paper veggie roll ups and have to admit dicing, slicing, and shredding is just a lot of effort. I’m going to do more after seeing how beautiful yours came out. I also think your sauce would make it tastier! Your weather is hot yuck! Here in Alaska we are having freezing ran with 40 mph wind gusts. It is 30’ above normal, also yuck. Thank you for your hard work! Take care and be well ❤

They're super versatile, you can put anything you want in them, which I think is wonderful, we also make some that we fry to crunchy but they have more springroll style fillings, with pork mince and cabbage etc.

Thanks for the demo. I'm still in 2 minds as to whether or not to purchase one. It doesn't seem like a problem that you have to trim the vegies to fit as there are kids only too happy to eat the trimmings. I love kitchen gadets too.

I think it’s pretty nifty, and the fact that it fits into the cutter I think is neat. I’m not sure how often I’d use it but I’m not declaring that until I try the zucchini and potato lol, I might find I use it far more than I thought I would lol!

I think I’d stick to just shredding the cucumber and carrot. I thought it would be excellent for zucchini pasta then you mentioned this at the end. Shredding potato might be easier too. But you never know, until you try these things. Now I want rice paper rolls with prawns.
@OurSmallFootprint
@OurSmallFootprint 18 сағат бұрын

@@Gardengirlie04 I think we have definitely acclimated to the temps, I remember the first couple of years we were here in these temps and we struggled to get anything done and barely just managed to exist, now we are definitely not running around, but we function a lot better in the temps because we're more used to them, but it still sucks!

Hi. Have you thought about making your own micro greens and sprouts? They can be used in wraps, sandwiches,anything really. Easy to make as you need them and nutrient dense. I make them cause I’m on my own now and was sick of wasting greens. The kids could make them as well.
@OurSmallFootprint
@OurSmallFootprint 8 сағат бұрын
I have a little hydroponic station growing some greens going atm, but I was talking to someone else about microgreens the other day too, I think I'll set up a couple of trays again! It's been quite a while since I grew them, I think it would be great to add into things easily!

@OurSmallFootprint

This particular one we eat just as is, but sometimes we fry them off, they are normally filled with more spring roll like fillings, like pork and cabbage etc, the kids quite like them crunchy! and I've done them dipped in sesame seeds before frying too which is super tasty!
