Those two small drum like instrument is called "Tabla" and lots of artists are there even here in my neighbouring house there's a 13 year old boy which can play it faster than anything you've just listened... it's almost impossible to rap or Western music to sing when fastest beat of TABLA is being playing... it's amazing

The stringed instrument you heard here is called Sitar. It's been used in Indian traditional music for thousands of years, along with many others. You also saw 2 small drum kinda instruments on which the player taps... Those are Tabla(s), again ancient Indian musical instrument.

This piece is my most favorite of Tushar's work. Get goosebumps everytime I listen to it with eyes closed. What the girl was doing (which you called vocalizing) is called *_alaap_* . It sounds simple but very very hard to do. You need years of training to do that so flawlessly.

Indian vocals are not limited to songs.. Indians never identified their vocal vibrations to lyrical songs.. lyricals were very later adopted just for communication and entertainment purposes in societies.. Indian music is so historic and complex as it's instruments that it was basically first used for self awareness and vocal and emotional enhancements for the mind and body. Even today singing in India is considered as devotion and seen with huge respect. That is why u seem to get a soulful effect each time because the instruments made were also very organic in nature and acted as a connection between soul and body for enhancing life and not just entertainment.The non lyrical part that Rick got so fonded of is called alaap and raag.. which are one of the dimensions of vocality. Korbin my freind the instrument you are talking about is called Sitaar. It's one of the oldest and toughest instruments but in early 50s every house in india had people used to play it specially females. It has 16 to 20 strings as 6 in guitar, but the tall neck than guitar b,coz of complex and numerous nodes.

One thing you may have subconsciously picked up but not commented on is the presence of what seems like a second voice even though none is shown. An excellent example is 6:03-6:15 and again at 6:27 and 6:36. The man making that noise is playing the upright, torso-height, boxy string instrument with a bow called the sarangi. It is said to be able to resemble the human voice, being able to imitate emotion and vocal agility to the point that one looks around searching for that voice.
