My father was posted in Doyang, Nagaland for 8 years. I was very little but I remember that place and the people. Naga people are fierce and brave (all men/women/children) and they have the greatest respect for women. Actually most Northeastern parts have the highest respect for women compared to the rest of India! Nagaland- Land of Naga tribe...IT IS BEAUTIFUL!

Had the privilege of studying with North Eastern classmates at the seminary. When my southern friends refused to welcome me to their groups because all I knew well was rock and metal music and they thought it was devils stuff, these guys welcomed me and made me a part of their family. The nagas are incredibly proud of their culture, quick to laugh and some of the most loving and fun people you'll ever meet! Here's an interesting fact "Guns 'N' Roses is the national band of nagaland and knocking on heavens door their national anthem! (The nagas will know I am teasing them). They are awesome beautiful people. Always have a smile on their face and are very quick to laugh. But their love for chillies is on another level, one king chilli is enough for an entire family lunch and you will sweat through every orifice in the body and korbin will die on the spot!! 1) Red is the most favorite color of nagas 2) chilly is their favorite fruit! (Pun intended) 3) GNR is their national band! 4) knocking on heavens door their anthem 5) Pork is their national dish 6) they're very skilled hunters 7) very short tempered but extremely loving people!! Nagas comment like & kuribo!!

The festival is named after the Hornbill bird, as the bird is a recurring theme in many of the tribes' folklore. During the festival, the tribes showcase their unique food, clothes, dance, performance (war dance, wrestling, etc.), and other traditional cultures. Along with performances, they also organize some competitions like ghost pepper eating, pork fat eating, etc. to encourage audience participation and entertainment.

The festival is going on now and it goes on for ten days. If you visit during this time you will get to taste different types of traditional cuisines, witness folk songs and dances. With love from Nagaland💓. Nagaland is a state under Indian Union. 16 tribes comprises the population of Nagaland. Initially they were head hunters,hunting human head as trophy. Good thing, Britishers came and stop this head hunting practice(only plus point for the Britishers in Indian sub continent)🤣 Each year hornbill festival is celebrated, whereby, 16 tribes comes together to celebrate this festival, bringing their own unique culture and showcasing their pride. It symbolizes inclusiveness, diversity and most of all unity. Points to be noted- Called "Festival of festivals" because each tribes has their own festivals. Every tribe's festival are showcased through this common platform called 'Hornbill festival'. Incase you visit, language is not a barrier because English is an official language of the state and majority populace speaks English. You'll feel at home.😜 It's that time of the year, celebrating "Hornbill Festival" Greetings.👋

@@thesnappywolf1902 Britishers or evangelical Americans, what damn difference does it make? They're still on their mission towards a 100% Christian state, and foment militant secessionism on that basis. Not long before your diverse, indigenous tribal cultures disappear. Give it one more generation.
@thesnappywolf1902
@thesnappywolf1902 5 жыл бұрын
@@thedescanteer The difference is that the Britishers came to exploit us where the American missionaries, they came to lead the Naga's into a good path and the impact they left on the Naga's are; firstly, It put an end to the era of the headhunting. Secondly, it made the people love and care for one another. Thirdly, it taught the people that all human are equal and all should be equally respected wether it be male or female. Fourthly, it taught the people that killing or hurting someone is a sin and there is no place for sinner in heaven after death. There are more but I think those 4 points will be enough for you to understand. If you're still not satisfied with that then ask yourself of all the states in india why Nagaland stands at the bottom when it comes to crime rates. So ya I am proud to be a Christian.
@paulsaha2242

@@thesnappywolf1902 I am not telling whether your religion is right or wrong. I am just stating the fact that you did get converted. Every decision that we take has good & also bad impacts. No denying of that. Every religion has good values to teach. But it depends upon the people, not the religion. Many christian dominated places in africa & america do have high crime rates(like the mass shootings in USA). The question is - Indian subcontinent has a lot of diversity in culture & customs. Will outside religions be able to keep its rich diverse culture intact? It is for us to see.

Hornbill, is the state bird of Nagaland. The head gears worn by some Naga tribes have Hornbill feather in them. The Festival has only been recently started to be celebrated as a means to unite the various Naga tribes. The ten day festival presents various tribal music, dance art forms and games primarily from the North East... It is called the festival of festivals because all tribes in North East India have their own traditional festivals celebrated throughout the year. But during hornbill festival, all of these festive celebrations are are done together in a span of 10 days.

Idk why indians are acting so sweet in the comment section because 1.Nagas eat beef which hindus dont. 2.Nagas want freedom. 3.most important one of all Nagaland is a Christian state with 99% locals Christians which indians hate. Btw please dont get mad im only writing this to make mainlanders realize what bothers meand other nagas.

Not really. I belong to the Garo tribe from Meghalaya and my ancestors were headhunters too before the British came. It was actually a big part of our culture until then. We are aslo a matrilineal society.

it's called Hornbill festival because the Hornbill bird centres alot of tribal folklore. The history and origin of the state also varies from the mainland states. The people are said to be of Sino-Mongoloid descent. Some tribes were headhunters. Fun fact: during the WW2, the biggest battle which prevented the Japanese from invading India was fought in Nagaland-Manipur. Hence, WW2 cemetery for India is in Kohima, capital of Nagaland. This is just a short summary. 😂 Love from Nagaland 💓
