Mr Zakir is so good being interviewed and he actually helps his interviewers a few times. So humble and thoughtful on his words too.

One of the coolest thing about the Ustad and his father is that they changed tabla completely in their lifetimes. Before them, Tabla was all about daayan or tabla (the smaller piece). All the nuance was focussed in variations of daayan. Ustad Allahrakha was the first to make baayan (or the bigger piece of the pair) equally important with huge emphasis on making optimal use of the echoes in vibrations of digga or baayan. They are not only masters of tabla but are also the founders of new age tabla! Hats off!

@@imranhussain1111 because you left ur culture and traditions behind to adopt a middle Eastern culture and call it ur own while u dismiss the culture of the soil u were born in to. The land u born in believes in no barriers in natures creation. There is nothing to seek outside you as you are complete as you are just the way God planned to be. All roads lead to one and no matter what anyone believes deep within its just beliefs and reality is very different and difficult to grasp. You left behind the wisdom of a culture which is over 10000 years or more. Knowledge passed on to you by your forefathers and mankind.

When I was living in the US I used to DJ at clubs, private events etc. I had the opportunity to watch ustad Zakir's performance when growing up as a kid in India. That one performance inspired me to learn tabla at a young age. I gained an understanding of tempo, beats, rhythm etc which is very critical to DJ'ing. So in a way this little DJ stint I had is 100% credited to ustad zakir. The person you have interviewed in extremely revered in India. I hope you both realize what an opportunity you have had.
