The easy option is to be angry, the better option is to be yourself and rationalise what impact this may - or may not - have on your life. In this instance, sounds like it's a good thing. I think I would be glad about it too, because now you don't have to agonize over how to tell them. The same thing happened to me when I came out. I was out to everyone but my parents, and I told one of my aunts, who told her daughter...and the word got back to my parents before I could tell them. I was angry for like 2 seconds, but got over it fast, because I realized it was a blessing...otherwise I may never have gotten up enough nerve to tell my parents!

I came out to two friends 6 months ago. After that I was with a guy for a little while who knew some of my friends. Long story short, 6 of my good friends found out. There is a HUGE relief that they know, but like you I was confused about how I should feel. I feel great about the situation now and I've personally come out to one more friend since than. So most of my good friends know. And life is better..but telling family will be difficult...

I think it's all right to be pissed off and grateful at the same time. Whether their intentions were for good or bad at least the outcome was positive. Telling people you are gay is your business, no one else's, unless you make it clear that it's all right for them to spread it around. I've only come out to a few people in my family, but some of them have big mouths and I'm pretty sure they all know by now. That's fine. It saved me from having to do it over and over myself.

Coming out to everyone is an organic process, some of it you can control, some of it you can't. I am sure if must have been very stressful to your once you caught wind of what was going on, but like others have said, take it as a blessing disguise. I am happy for you =)

I'm "out" to close friends and close relatives. But what I find so interesting is that my heterosexual family members and friends did not have to announce to anyone "hey, I'm straight." Yet our culture would have you believe you must make some form of announcement once you're gay. Why is that?

I'm so happy your friends are being good to you... I pray that it will continue that way for you. But please be careful there is still tons of haters out there... Everyone's experience with coming out is unique. You seem to have the support of friends both cyber and actual who are willing to assist you. You may never know the motives of your old acquaintance in sharing what he learned about you, so try not to dwell on it. It seems that you are handling it in a healthy way. Hang in there buddy. Hey man, Just found your channel & have watched several of your vid's. I found this especially good, because the same thing happened to me (about 35 years ago). I had come out to one of my sisters (I have 4 older sisters), and she told 1 sister, who told another, who told another, and so forth until it got to my parents. It made it easier for me to be me, and took a lot of the weight of having to tell the family. Some were good with it, some weren't, but it's all good now.

It may have been nice for you to tell people yourself when you felt you were ready but at the same time like you said it helps you not having to tell so many people.
