The Sony is loud (the loudest of these) and have some punchy bass, but it have some weird noise in the highs at max. The Xtreme 2 is loud, good sounding with great bass at max, its a great for everything. The UE Megaboom 3 is loud, but not sounding good. Don't have any deep bass, even in half volume, and in my opinion the highs aren't right too. The Studio 5 is my favourite. It's have awesome deep bass, and it balance the sound very well, but its just mono, and not very loud. The LG Pk7 is just a joke in my opinion.

I have the xb41 for outside use cuz its so durable and portable not to mention crazy battery life. There are also lights. Not very important but are a nice touch for me. sometimes you just feel like it. I have the studio 5 for inside cuz it's just the best soundwise

Maximus The Executioner but xb41 reduces volume when reaching a specific battery level, which is a joke. Of course it will get 24 hours with this, but only if you let it play it without lights and at 50% volume. It also sounds muffled at normal volumes, but too harsh at maximum. They just did this to make it louder. What a piece of junk the sony is

Studio 5 rules the bottom end. JBL rules overall balance between bass, mids and highs, the XB41 has the loudest sound but its mid & highs are a bit rough sounding. The UE Megaboom and he LG PK7 are totally outclassed here...

I really enjoy many of your reviews. You do an outstanding job at describing and showing the differences of various models and being able to hear the differences. The one item I would like to see is to add some acoustical string music, some classical music and vocals to the reviews. That genre of music will provide a better perspective on how well a speaker performs.

Studio 5 is a beast, the bass is superb, put it inn a corner and be blown away, also mutch louder plugged in. Jbl 2 is great to, but is double the price of studio 5 and Sony, so for outdoor buy two Sony's, adjust the bass and treble in the app, and it Will blow the Jbl Xtreme 2 away.

I like the studio 5. It may not be the loudest speaker here however the studio 5 have the most beautiful thumping bass. The Sony exbs 41 is the loudest here yes I agree but it's not the best speaker here. I have notice with sony exbs 41 the bass dosen.t get lifted at higher volume even when the extra bass feature is on. Only the exerme 2 and the studio 5 is best speakers here. It may not be the loudest speakers here but have better sound quality and much more pucher bass then the sony exb 41. The exb 41 to me sound crap. The same with ue megaboom and the LG. However I love the studio 5 good thumping bass I think the studio 5 wins hand down.

I know this video is a year old. I also know for a fact that the PK7 is a great deal louder than this video shows. I gave my wife the white model for Christmas. I set that thing on the floor, in a corner and it literally rattles the windows. I know LG gave it an update for a sound boost option, coupled with the meridian enhancements. I'm blown away by how loud that little speaker is. It's amazing.

@@heinzkitzvelvet ok, here is the thing, the video was made before the firmware update you are talking about. Infact, if you look on youtube for videos about the PK7 firmware updates, my video about it is probably the oldest of them all because I was in contact with LG team about it and was one of the first people to get it before it rolled out to everyone with the speaker. The fact that it got louder after the update doesn't make the video that I made before it false. It's possible that if there were no videos like these puting products to shame, the manufacturers wouldn't care less to fix them. All this to say that I'm proud of the video and it will stay up because it represents that time. I'm glad that you like your PK7 but I'm almost certain that this video and others that showed how not so loud it was when it first came out are part of the reason it was improved to your liking.

DLX Willington this was a very nice review. Do me a favor and please throw that LG PK 7 & the UE Megajoke in the trash! I liked the balanced sound of the JBL Xtreme 2 best. Next I loved the bass from the Onyx Studio 5 but the mids & highs needed to match with the richness of the bass. Finally I liked the overall loudness of the Sony XB 41 it sounded ok but it needs a better tuning on the higher frequencies to help prevent so much intermodulation distortion.

Assessment seems off. Onyx 5 has full bodied mid vocals with a nice rolled off crisp high. Keep in mind, the onyx 5 is a indoor speaker. The new HK citation 200 beats the onyx 5 & 6 on ever lower sub bass, with improvements to the mids and highs.

I had an onyx studio 2 and it was great! But ended up falling from tables because of its own power and ended up breaking the stupid legs and sounding terrible after a fall, batery was a joke with 30mins at full power but sound wise was really impressive, now I'm getting the JBL

Try the PK after latest firmware update. With enhanced bass you can activate volume boost and it gets pretty loud. Connected to a cable even louder. It is limited to 30W on battery...

i have the megaboom 3 and my thoughts on its sound quality are that because its main feature is the 360 sound, and the speaker by default is set to stereo, it ends up lacking some presence specially outdoors since the audio is dispersed equally in every direction, it takes away from the pressure a lot, i also think that maybe because of its sealed design it ends up having a more deeper bass rather than the more boomy jbl sound, maybe because jbls radiators are open and exposed . my workaround has been to make it mono to get an extra presence. overall i think its a great speaker considering its size, battery, design, resistence and overall soundquality for a speaker of its category :)
