Happy Birthday Luis 🎂🎉🎊🎁 I pray you have at least 40+ more birthdays to come. I’d like to say Thank you for being the generation that come before my generation who worked hard to make Things easier for my generation behind you. My Mother passed at 53 with cancer & My Dad would be 90 now in 2024 but he passed in 2016 at 82. You’re 80 so Dad was 10 years older than you and you’re 20 years older than I am. So I’m still the generation behind you and Thank you and all the generations that came before me for making the world better for my generation. I intend on making it & leaving it better for the generations behind me as well !!! I’m a firm believer in GODS HOLY WORD The Holy Bible and God said something I’ve always tried to live by. He said: Respect ✊🏼 your Elders and Honor and Respect your mother and your father so that doing so so shall your days on earth be longer! So Once again Happy Birthday 🎂 🎈🎉🎊 and I Pray 🙏🏼 That God Gives you many more birthdays to come Luis ! May God Bless You is my prayer !!!! Amen 🙏🏼

If you plan on keeping the cabin for a long time invest in rockwool rather than fiberglass. More expensive but mold resistant, fireproof, and better sound deadening. Also it’s stone dust, rodents won’t nest as easy.
@123tanners
@123tanners 8 ай бұрын
Good advise. I think Rockwool is easier and faster to install as well. Buy the special knife for cutting it if you do Mike.
@charlesgallant756
@charlesgallant756 8 ай бұрын
The rodents love to play in the fiberglass insulation, the mineral insulation ( rockwool ) the rodents will not go and play in it. Also there are many other avantages to like Mold resistance. Also if you don't plan on having continuous heating in the cabin, everytime you will heat the cabin in the winter it might create some condensation inside the exterior wall and the rockwool will also help you with that

I have used spray in foam and love it. A little more money but its great, if you use the closed type..
@charlesgallant756
@charlesgallant756 8 ай бұрын
@@JohnWilson-ql8ks Spray foam is a great product for it efficiency but I wouldn't recommend it without an air exchanger running constantly to avoid trapping in any humidity. For an off the grid situation I would only recommend doing the floors with the Spray foam

We had a 40'x40' attached garage built onto our house 3 years ago and I calculated out how much insulation would cost for us to do it ourselves, then I got an estimate from an insulation contractor, his price was $100 more, I immediately said sold! I just recently talked to a friend of ours who used to do insulation for 25 years and he said that they always beat the price that DIYers paid because of their volume purchases. AND, you don't have to mess with any of the measuring, buying, transporting, installing, it's done the way it should be done and it takes them way shorter time, you don't worry about the cleanup. We were very, very happy!!

Great Morning Mike! Rex Mo made a great impression sad to see it move on but some one some where will get a great piece of equipment, Trip to Cabin was inspirational. I enjoyed the walk about, when I'm in the woods I look at trees all the time too always thinking what they could / would make. 2 seasons ago I had the most wonderful view from my North stand of 26 turkey Polts and watched them grow into beautiful young Turkeys many Jake's in the bunch, that year was a great hatch but last season the hatch wasn't good, had a lot of Raccoon and Coyote in the area which I think contributed to the problem. I go Turkey hunting more for the show than to bag one (I can go to the store and buy one cheaper) I love the Precious metal purchase from (hats over your heart folks) Bass Pro Shop! Thank for the ride! Hi Hunter and Melissa hope ya'll are well. Have A Gud un! John Toccoa

Mike, something I wanted to share with you. On our property was "the old wood-shed" long gone and not even a trace of it left but the memory of my grandmother. In the area where it once sat comes the biggest darn morels every spring. The 1st time I got 105 of them and filled a 1/2 bushel bucket and part of another one with my finds. Some over 6" high. Shortly after my brother put cattle on that property and they stopped coming. Another thing, there aren't as many apple trees anymore as when I was a kid. The folks of the 30's, 40. and 50's had apple trees all over. Black and red cherries and plums on almost every homestead. We need to put back, they dont last forever like red woods.

You have a very nice property there in WV. We have 35 acres and I would estimate that we have never laid eyes on about 1/3 of it or so. It's thick woods with a lot of under brush. Little-by-little we are cleaning it up and opening it up. I spend a lot of time looking around at trees as well. I find the dead ones to use for firewood and others that I just want to remove. I would love to start a firewood business like you have done, but unfortunately here in north/central Florida there isn't a real big market. We more-or-less have about 2 or 3 months out of the year where it gets cold enough to burn in a fireplace. Quite a bit of what I cut down and process is Oak, Hickory and maybe some Sweet Gum or Maple.

All those trees sound wonderful. I hope that you have an outdoor kitchen for the summer months and canning!🕊🖖🏕🔭📚🐈‍⬛🫖🙏

@@damogranheart5521 We don't really have an outdoor "kitchen". We do cook sometimes over an open fire with some of the wood. I also have a smoker that I'll feed with some of the un-seasoned wood.

Mike - I always wanted to buy an elementary school or Jr. High school that had a shop and lots of rooms to spread out in. Small town so 10 to 20 rooms and a library room . I think it could be converted into a nice home. But alas we never did. That Elementary was a bit big.

You could use a storage shed by cabin to keep things in instead of dragging back and forth.keep a small quad to roam the woods

It was sad going to our cabin and discovering that yet another thief had cleaned us out. We ended up hauling our lawn mower up with us each time we went to stay for a week or two.

Yeah my view of trees changed when I got my sawmill Also ! My property had the greatest mix of everything. Maple , black cherry , Ash , Huge White pine . Up to 35”& 120 ft high ! Milled most of them to cover house . Looked like a log cabin by the time I was done .

If you thin the red pine. Young red pine will grow as they get sun light. Also as a cabin owner in Northern Wisconsin I would suggest Running power to your cabin if available.

Mike , I made a gravity fed screen to reclaim stone when I clean up my yard, you would be surprised how much you will get. Also use it to clean top soil . I have 1” screens I bought from a stone quarry that are used

Mine was ancient when I was in grade school. The year I was transferred to a school much closer to my home, the wiring in the old school caught fire. No one was hurt, and they built a new school .
