I don’t know how I found you guys, I think it was the security camera video. We are looking for a system for our off grid camp. This particular video I’m commenting on popped up while Was working here at home. I saw Hunter, then heard Melissa talk about him and I cannot believe how your situation resonates with ours. We too have a 28 year old non-verbal son with Autism, his name is AJ. He was working two part time jobs ( with an aide) before this pandemic but is now home with me. He LOVES to work, he loves to be outside and we’ve given him jobs. He loves our camp, he such a wonderful help to us and his aging grandparents. We’re learning how to keep AJ busy and happy, we’re also figuring how to take him along and accommodate him when we snowmobile, run dogs and include him in all that we do. You guys are awesome- we’re watching from Southern Vermont ❤️

Mike and Melissa, I really admire how much you make time for Hunter! I like where you both just make plans, take him to grab lunch, spend time together and you're both great examples of what excellent parents should be! You're great parents to all of your kids and you're so supportive of Ema as well and everything she's been through as I watched the interview with the surgeon today, Ema is so brave and I'm glad the operation was successful and she's living pain free now! You're just a model, modern family with traditional roots and it shows!

I'm 63 and have to keep busy. I've slowed down a little, but still split 2 cords of firewood for our 2 fireplaces and 1 wood stove. I too always have a side hustle. Woodworking, metal working, making parts and fixing things, doing a project around the house, whatever. Gives me a reason to get up in the morning. It's my relaxation from the demands of my day job as an engineering consultant. While I love my job, people want everything done today. It's the instant gratification mentality. I need it now. They don't understand that I may have 6 other projects in front of theirs and I may not get to theirs for a few weeks. Very stressful. So the other stuff is my relaxation, done on my time, at my speed. That's why I love watching what you guys do. Great way to sit and relax at the end of a day.

You got that right i abused my body for 30 yrs and turned 50 and all hell broke loose .2 right shoulder replacements and still isn't right . Need the left replaced but whats the point after 2 failed right ones. Both knees replaced and left Achilles reattached after rupture. Several arthroscopic surgeries. Carpel tunnel in both wrists/hands. Right arm and hand are still numb from the first shoulder replacement.hard work and body building were not 2 things I should have been doing for the same number of yrs . It totally changed my life .can't so much of anything I use to be able to do. Really sucks so yes take care of your selves.ive got osteoarthritis everywhere and its very painful especially in the back of my neck hands fingers ankles feet let shoulder .its hell but I get by.i could never do what Mike and mellisa do. I wish I could but not possible. I will be 60 October 22nd this thursday. I've always thought of life as two halves first 40 we go all out and from 40 to 80 we survive LOL after 80 its all just extra if your lucky enough to still be kickin. But its all good just keep pushing ahead and enjoy life as much as possible.and getting to watch the morgans is a pleasure everyday .so I live through mike and mellisa and family pretty much LOL . Be safe 🙏

Your plan makes a lot of sense, Mike, and you've got the right partner to see it through with you. Being self-sufficient and having a way to keep the family safe is pretty much all that matters, when the rest of the country is coming unbuttoned. It takes faith and hard work to make plans a reality, and you guys are doing everything right. The picnic table chats do a lot to cheer me up, when the rest of the news can be discouraging. Love you guys.

I love your channel and your lovely family. I worked in corporate America and always love doing projects around the house or helping friends on evenings and weekends. Was a great stress reliever. Retired and live in a different area with 4 seasons and lots of snow, forest etc. so always something to do. Son bought a mountain cabin with 1ac, an hour away, love helping him with his projects. Smaller area than yours, with beautiful large Pine & Cedar trees, very quiet with lots of wildlife. I really enjoy watching you work on your various projects, gets me hyped up to help him with each project. Keep up the great work.

Mike & Melissa - Great video. Thanks for sharing your values, and your goals. After watching your videos for awhile now there were no surprises for me as I pretty much had your life style figured out. I remember when Covid hit, Melissa getting the family busy with closet cleanouts, finding ways to continue to exercise at home, and other things. I'm now 73, and my plan was to work until I turned 70. Over the years we put 10% of income away in investments, and are now living off that, and some other retirement funds. It has given my wife and I the ability to do some traveling, and to fund my basic woodworking hobby. I think you have your future laid out very well, and I hope that God blesses you with the ability to enjoy the plans you have made. Blessings to you both and to your family. Hi to Hunter, Hannah, and Eva.

My wife and I are in a pretty similar situation, though we got started a little late. I am about a month older than you. We purchased a wooded "virgin" 35 acre property a few years ago to build our retirement home. We have spent many weekends clearing and are finally at the stage where we are looking at floor plans and ready to start building. I look back and am proud of what my wife and I have accomplished together starting off living in a trailer park, to owning a home which we paid off to now owning property with very little debt. Good luck to you Morgans and keep up the great work!

Good job! I'm 53 also. Grew up a on a farm in Issaquah Wa. Made a living as a heavy equipment operator in heavy highway construction. Sold firewood in the winter, cut lumber with my portable mill. Fell timber and topped trees. I have been a superintendent in the industry for about 17 years now. The diverse group of men and women that I have worked with are like family to me, but after 35 years in the business I'm preparing to move on also. Our family plans are similar to yours. Guess that's why I enjoy your channel so much. My 2 oldest have started there own company. My youngest daughter is a top notch heavy equipment operator. We have all worked so hard to achieve our goals. I'm so proud! God bless you and your family. Be kind friends!

Its always better to have a plan, regardless of what the venture is. My wife and I were ( are ), very much in line with your likes and plans, until I became disabled almost 4 years ago. We've been very blessed, and had most of our plans in place when I had severe nerve damage occur in my neck and back from compression. 5 surgeries later and better than 3 years recovering I am retired and learning how to to some things in my shop now, very limited, but I'm trying. Always plan ahead, because you never know exactly what the future holds. When one door closes, God opens another! We will continue to look forward to watching your plans unfold! 👍👍

Congratulations Mike and Melissa. You guys have an amazing plan centred on what is important. Family. Hard work is not work when you enjoy it. The only point I would add is... don’t forget community. Every family needs others. The more we maintain and nourish those outside connections the stronger our family becomes and the stronger our “extended community” gets. Too much independence only leads to trouble. We all need each other, the more connections the better and the more diverse the connections, even better. Love your channel and love your whole approach to life and connecting to people through KZbin. ❤️🇨🇦

That was my favorite video of yours. I love what I do for a career, but in another 15 yrs I want to be basically providing for my family off our land. I will always have a side hustle like my photography side jobs and selling stuff at farmer’s markets that I make from my land and animals. I love mowing, taking care of my chickens and ducks, tending to orchard, and managing our land. These are the reasons why I enjoy your channels.

I don't comment often, but, Me Too! I have worked since I was 13 years old, I am turning 60 in a about week and have been working to make our property the center of our world. Only have 30 acres of timberland but keeps me outside, busy, and I never have to think about the next thing to do. It always presents itself! On top of the 5 years of planned projects. Really enjoy your channel glad you keep politics and religion out of it, as those are personal choices that everyone has varying opinions on. I realize this is difficult when you have such a wonderful platform as you both have not to do that. Showing respect and appreciation for people, appreciation of the outdoors, and our country. Mike, There are a lot of us out there that cannot sit still. I left my parents home at 17 with a full scholarship to study in Germany; never went back full time. Went to college and worked my way though with only $500 in debt. Then started working full time as part of the team to build UTC. 20 years later I resigned at age 46 to retire and think. Four months and I decided to help people build businesses and fix them. That led me to work for companies in a number of industries. By age 72, I was dealing with three different kinds of cancer, post polio syndrome, DISH, and more that left me partially disabled. But my brain still worked and I became an investor in my son in law's logistics business. I was on the internet every night studying, learning. Your program is a nice relaxing program where I learn. When you explain things, I learn. We've had our bumps starting a high capital business just two years before COVID-19 hit. The dealer destroyed our first truck, we bought another with "good bones" a 2003 Kenworth W900L. Some backed into it and insurance paid for a rebuilt engine and we started to build a truck. We engaged some owner operators who really did not like to work - goodbye! Now we have four special application trailers - two leased, two bought used and Curtis rebuilt them. If it is overweight and overdimentional we haul it. What fun! Like my grandfather who retired at 83 and lived to 100, I have no intention of retiring. What did I learn from you and Tractor Time with Tim? I learned about tractors. When COVID-19 hit, we worked the auctions to buy, fix and flip. And restore one - enough, but profitable. We inventoried all our equipment, brought it all to LN condition and when the country was ready to open up, so were we. PLEASE Keep up the videos!

It is amazing that people thumbs down. I don’t think I have ever on anyone’s videos. Leave some constructive feedback, or watch something else. I put out a few videos, it takes some effort, and some talent. I don’t have it, but have respect enough for those who do to not bash. Not sure why anyone would thumbs down a family taking responsibility for their own destiny and sharing along the way.

It supports your betterment while not hurting others, and I’d argue actually lifting up others that come into your orbit. A fantastic video and message. I admire you guys for following your dream and making it happen. I am 58 years old and am doing very much the same as you are doing. I currently work in the corporate world, but am putting things into place to become self sufficient and to be able for my land and farm to support my family. I have a little over 300 acres in southern West Virginia. I currently raise beef cattle, sell grass fed beef, keep honeybees and sell honey, I sell firewood, and I just purchased a portable sawmill to start cutting and selling specialty lumber products from trees harvested off of the property. The sawmill is also to supply lumber for all of my barn and building projects on the farm. Keep working your plan and good luck.

Great job Mike and Melissa. Thanks for sharing with both of your thoughts on family. We can see your family values and see how you always work for their futures. This pandemic is a sad situation all over the world yet you folks ( along with lots of others ) have found ways to pull together and make things better for your families to pass on to generations to come. You folks have went much farther by sharing what you are doing with the world and given hope to so many through your KZbin channel by sharing your family and your improvements. You’re truly blessed and blessings to watch. Thanks you all for the enjoyment you have provided to us !! 👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Mike and Melissa, thank you for making this video! My wife and our kids are in a similar situation as your family. I work in construction as my 9-5 but I love side hustles. Right now it's KZbin channel and firewood. Everyday now I drive home from work to our property where I enjoy many of the things y'all do. Keep it up!

So true what your lifestyle represents. We have similar plans. I have about 5 more years of teaching and my wife has about 8 more years of being an RN. We are considering using our property to stay busy with some small scale farming and cutting our own firewood.

Good morning from NC! Beautiful day here too. 37F, maybe 3C, clear as a bell. Still unpacking and trying to find places for everything we so carefully packed a few weeks ago. Kids and grandkids all here Friday and yesterday to help, so we made a lot of progress. But it’s still pretty much chaos at the Sadler home. Your plan sounds great - it’s clearly a good fit for you, and most of us would appreciate it, even if we might not have the energy to do it! Enjoy.

I want to say one more thing. I wrote it down when you said this Mike, and it has inspired me. "Slow and sure wins the race. Take your time, think it through, don't get greedy,." While I am working, those words are resonating in my mind. Thank you.

Great video ... your openess is much appreciated. I'm well into my 8th decade and have been "retired" for 10 years or so. One thing that has surprised me, and most of my fellow "retirees", is how busy you actually stay after you retire. And I don't mean fun and games ... I mean actual essential activities. Mike, I think your work life is preparing you perfectly for retirement. I admire the breath of skills and knowledge you have. The variety of jobs you've taken on in life seems to have given you a base to take on many challenges ... and given you the awareness of when you need to ask for advice. I myself, was a scientist. I thought I knew a lot, but in actuality my knowledge was narrowly focused. In every video, I learn something practical that I can apply in my daily life. I also learn from watching farmers, mechanics, truckers, etc. on KZbin. These videos have opened my eyes about what it has taken to allow me to enjoy a great life. I'm grateful, that I have become more aware this late in life. I really enjoy watching Hunter. I had a brother that lived with my parents and had some special needs. When my parents passed 20 years ago, that's when I really learned the value of a supportive family. I really like the way you all seem to function together in supporting each other's needs. Finally, it appears that a number of your viewers are experienced with your various activities ... they can offered advice and constructive criticisms. However, I'll bet there are also a large number of you viewers, like myself, that just enjoy watching what it takes to operate an "estate", hold a regular job, and raise a great family. Thanks

I enjoyed the perspective you shared in this video. I particularly admire how you guys are team. Not all families are and I suspect you have likely prioritized it all along. I have wondered if maybe Hunter has fostered that quality in the rest of the Morgans. It seems he has needed and benefited from being on such a great team. It shows in so many of the videos. Today, listening to you guys, it occurred to me that the rest of you have likely benefited right along with Hunter. Filling his needs, as a family, through the years is probably the highest calling for teamwork. Tough for young parents and young siblings, yet struggle can be formative and rewarding. From a guy who also just turned 54 and is retiring soon, I hope your next chapter allows you all to enjoy each other's support. Thanks Morgans, for taking us along for the ride these last couple of years.

Building a deck overlooking a hill by yourself had to be challenging and profitable! My “side hustle” was always OT, whether it was working late during the week, working weekends, Holidays or going out of town doing storm restoral work. It helped our family and me to retire at your age Mike, that was my goal...to have that option. Good Luck with your families plan, just stick with it and one day!!

I hear ya Mike and love the plan. I too retired early after 35 years in Aerospace to spend my time on my 89 acre tree farm and work a few local side jobs in rural SC. Cutting fields, clearing lots and helping folks out. Just me, the dogs and the cats. I rather be working outside than anything else and you couldn't pay me enough to go back to an indoor desk job. Keep up the great work and GOD bless you and your family.

Great video and great plan! We all need a plan. I’ve had side jobs my whole life, building decks, picnic tables, renovations, build jigs and fixtures (machining) and finally a sharpening shop...over 36 years now. Just retire a year ago and still have the sharpening shop. Moved to New Hampshire living the life we planned for....we always had a plan, nothing big, hike across the street with the wife and dog in the morning, chop wood, sharpen a few things, keep the hiking paths and snow mobile trials open from wayward trees across the street. Being outdoors, great life! Enjoy your videos more than you’ll know!!

1st i have loved the videos for a long time but this one really hit dead center, We made the decision a couple months ago that we were going to start on our retirement plan. You and Melissa are great inspiration for us. I actually recently have a chance to buy a firewood processor business and you were the first reference that came to mind... keep up the great work.

Great video! Happy Birthday Mike! I work for Fedex as a tractor trailer driver . I am only home 2 days a week. But I have always found myself doing extra side jobs and selling a chord of wood here and there. Actually thats how i found you guys. I was looking for a splitter and stumbled across your wood videos . I instantly fell in love your values of family, work , and home. Thank you. Maybe i will get a chance to email you one day.
