Marva Stewart In the books, Claire never told Jamie that Laoghaire wanted to kill her. He finds out when Claire returns, 20 years later. It is one of the changes in the adaptation that makes no sense, because they negatively affect the perception of the characters. They are adding unnecessary drama to situations that were already dramatic.

This is why it'll always piss me off that they made Jamie know in the show. In the books, he DID NOT know about Laoghaire's involvement in Claire's trial. And it's incredibly gross to say that out of love Jamie should never have married when Claire literally went back to HER PREVIOUS HUSBAND and allowed him to raise Jamie's daughter as his own. Meanwhile, Jamie wasn't able to raise either one of his children, and had a very painful 20 years which included hiding in a cave for seven years, going to prison, and essentially being a slave for a family. Claire, on the other hand, got to live her cushy life in Boston, got to raise Brianna, and got to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. Cut Jamie some slack, he just wanted to feel useful again.

Dave WA Most of us have long ago learned the difference between love and lust. Seriously. He had no expectation of seeing her again. What young man will give up sex forever when he thinks the only woman he loves is gone forever? And to be fair, many women would do the same if they were in that position.
@lilred01305 жыл бұрын
Sabbath Maiden Thats a total cop out in my book. There were other women in Scotland, so it’s not like Laoghaire was the only chick in the country to marry. And so what that Jenny pressured him! He’s so weak willed that he can’t tell her to stfu, mind her own, & back off?! LAOGHAIRE TRIED & ALMOST SUCCEEDED IN HAVING CLAIRE KILLED!!! And in the process, Claire was thrown in an underground hole for days, had to endure that horrific, biased trial, & was whipped while onlookers cheered on!!! ALL BECUZ OF LAOGHAIRE! No way I would ever forgive the person who was responsible for doing that to the love of my life & for the writers to write it that way in the show did a disservice to Jamie becuz it made him look like a selfish, insensitive ass. In the book he didn’t know & says he never would’ve married her if he had known. Anyway, just my 2 cents.
