🔥 How to Solve the “Import/Export” buttons being grayed out in Microsoft Outlook for Mac 🔥
Hey everyone! In this video, we're covering a quick tutorial how how to fix the import and export buttons being greyed out in Outlook for Mac. Luckily, there is a simple solution to be able to use these features in a fully functonal way. We use the import and export to save email data via pst or olm files, which can be crucial for work.

Before I try anything, it sure would be reassuring to see that/how we can get back out of the legacy version to the current one. Simple as pie--I hope.

It's actually just a toggle switch in the top right of the application-- easy peasy!! Click the button titled "New Outlook" to go back to the new version in Legacy.

I check in to see if Microsoft have made improvements to New Outlook but as of today it still seems to be a backward step from the features I used to enjoy before. I migrated to another email program which has all the Outlook features and much more, there is probably no turning back for me now.

When I tried the new Outlook for MAC all my 'on my computer' files transferred to the new version. When I reverted back to the Legacy version as the new version had loads of issues, all of my 'on my computer' files are now gone/not accessible and as a result I can only view them if I go to the new version of outlook. I have to constantly go back and forth now between the versions to view my saved emails. Is there a way to fix the 'on my computer' files that they are accessible on the legacy version again?

I believe you can actually just export a data file (.olm) from your "new" outlook, and then import that back into the Legacy account and use that. You can follow along with a video we made for that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpXRhaicm7qpr6s

It would be good to say in the video that after switching to Legacy Outlook from the Help menu, switching back jums to the Outlook menu :) Thanks anyway!

Thanks for the video. I met a problem, after I import the PST file and it wasn’t showed up “in my computer section”. It just disappeared. Do you have any idea? Thanks

Does anyone know if you need to be online for the 'revert' to work? I've been locked from my online account and so far not able to reinstate it* but can open the app (phew!) when offline. I'll happily try this tip in order to get the export button, but don't want to lose offline access. I will manually collect the most important contacts and files first.

I believe you'll need to be online for the initial switch. Ensure all of your data is secure before doing this as it will reset the accounts within Outlook. Once reverted, the offline mode will still be available. At this time, import/export does not work in the new version. You can drag the mail to the desktop - then switch profiles and drag it to the on my computer folders.

Can you please explain how I get my Outlook Mails from my windows computer (pst files) into my outlook on mac? Do I need to convert pst files to olm files and if so, how to do it ? I tried to im import pst files into my outlook on my mac and it didn't work....it looks like the mails are being imported but I can't find them (no, they are not in my "on my computer folder") THX!!!

To import your Outlook PST files from your Windows computer to Outlook on your Mac, you don't need to convert them to OLM files. Here's a step-by-step guide: Export PST from Windows Outlook: Open Outlook on your Windows computer. Go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export. Select Export to a file and choose Outlook Data File (.pst). Select the folders you want to export and save the PST file. Transfer PST to Mac: Transfer the PST file to your Mac using a USB drive, external hard drive, or cloud storage. Import PST to Mac Outlook: Open Outlook on your Mac. Go to File > Import. Select Outlook for Windows archive file (.pst) and click Continue. Locate the PST file you transferred and click Import. If the emails are not visible after importing, try the following: Check All Mailboxes: Ensure you are viewing all mailboxes and not just a specific folder. Rebuild Outlook Database: Go to Tools > Accounts and select your account. Click on Advanced and then Rebuild. If you continue to have issues, try using a third-party PST to OLM converter tool. Thank you bro for saving me.. I am facing one more problem.. After importing data, i switched back to normal outlook.. but i am unable to send mails, it was stuck on outbox folder.. I am receiving mail but can't send... it working fine in legacy outlook

It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue in Outlook where emails get stuck in the Outbox after importing data. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this: Check Email Settings: Ensure that your email account settings, including SMTP server details and port numbers, are correctly configured in Outlook. Offline Mode: Sometimes Outlook might be in Offline mode inadvertently. Check the bottom right corner of the Outlook window. If it says "Working Offline," click on it to switch back to Online mode. Clear Stuck Emails: Open the Outbox folder and try to delete or move the stuck emails. Sometimes, a single problematic email can cause others to get stuck. Send/Receive Settings: Verify your Send/Receive settings. Go to the Send/Receive tab and click on "Send/Receive All Folders" to force Outlook to try sending again. Repair Outlook Profile: If the issue persists, try repairing your Outlook profile. Go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles. Select your profile and click on "Properties" > "Email Accounts." it is not importing 'Send' folder , i can only see mails that i have received. (pst outlook file)

You could try copying the original PST from file manager rather than exporting (assuming you're exporting the pst). Are you trying to transfer from windows?

Well i have soooooooooo much hours on this issue. I'll try to explain why i need this and why this solution that i've read before hasn't worked for me. I have one user that has a huge amount of info on her 365 account. Almost full house on a 50gb standard 365 account. I did an export of all the messages older than 1 year. The idea was to move this mails into the "On My Computer" account, so the user has almost 38gb of email out of her 365 mailbox and sitll accesible at her Outook for mac. But.. this import button is greyed. Oh yes.. i did the trick of going back and import.. but.. this import is just for the old version. If you move to the new version.. all those mails don't follow to the new version. And the user HATES the old version, cause the other mac users use the new version and you uses to learn how to do things in the new outlook from the other users, and the old version keeps her out to do this. She's a Mac Mail user and she hates changes.. Ah.. i've also read post of users about using this old import and their attachatments got slayered in the process.. also any meeting, tasks and contacts seems to suffer a lot too.. But.. thx anyway. For some people this is a way out of the terrible Microsoft behaviour on Mac. As always..

You'll just need to manually add the account back in since it's a different version of the software.
