This was bittersweet. The first act was intriguing. The second act ran with it, keeping my eyes glued to the screen. Then the third act introduced plot twists that turned this into a lazy retread of Skynet. Really cool idea. Amazing action sequences. Just didn’t stick the landing. Still, wouldn’t mind seeing a follow up that did this unique, compelling concept justice.

@arctic_phoenix9936
@arctic_phoenix9936 3 жыл бұрын
@Rosa Barks he isn't saying drone pilots don't have PTSD, kind of you jumping to conclusions there. He is saying that the reason that he is freaking out during that scene is because it is the first time he is in real mortal danger in his life. And him not ready to be in that situation. (Although the MC obviously didn't have PTSD from being a drone pilot at least not yet. He was casually eating snacks before he drone strikes men. Fully believed he was in the right after the situation and didn't have any remorse. He was lowkey a sociopath. (I do think he made the right call though and he did save those other mens lives and was very efficient as his role)).
@trembledust6819
@trembledust6819 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with most of the comments on the movie accept for the not explaining why character was shaking and pdst. It wasn't ptsd. He is a drone pilot that never saw live combat outside of looking at it from his screen. When he was in that situation where he was shaking thats fear. Thats holy shit this is real reaction. he didnt know how to react until he pulled himself together and did what he had to do. They explained why he disobeyed orders in the beginning of the movie. He thought in order to save the squad 2 could be sacrificed. The convo about their being no fail safes with Makey's character was also explained.

They didn't build him to disobey orders. They gave him enough understanding of humanity and morals to make judgement calls about disobeying orders, and he did exactly that. Once he realized he could disobey orders, the very first thing he did was to try to reduce the total amount of war in the world, and he went to great lengths to achieve that. Wonderful writing!

However, it falls apart when the Resistance lets the Lt go knowing there's a chance he can disrupt Leo's plan; also the nukes should have launched instead of being stopped. There's a certain character development that just gets ignored. The Lt sees what's going on at the frontlines, yet his character development doesn't help the whole of humanity. The movie was indeed ambitious and I feel as though the ending could have been better but the philosophical questions of this movie are deep. The character that Mackie plays makes an interesting point; his creation and success is antecedent to eternal war. The cyborg has the depth of insight to realize that his success is downfall to humanity. He although, its screwed up at how he sees it, has enough humanity to see it and a plan to save humanity, basically create such a catastrophic failure-nuke a Us City-that the pathway to cybernetic AI would be abandoned and thus save humanity.
