A tip on full time, if ya gonna use the campers toilet, use it the same way as if camping then hitting a dump station. Running the hose to septic tank and leaving black tank open full time with crash ya onboard sewer. Yuns prolly know that but just incase.

Thank you for such good details. I'm thinking about getting a "baby" trailer and have no idea how to even begin. I'll have to watch this video a dozen times to make sure I don't miss any items. The black tank is what is one of my fears and the most is hitching it up. I'll have to buy a bigger SUV. God should it break away from the truck.. I'm a 67 year old, woman, single and have never ever done anything like this. I've retired and thought it's time to get on the road and see some of our beautiful sites.

FYI: If you need an adjustable slide wrench, try replacing your hose washers with rubber hose washers. Use some plumbers lube to keep them supple. Also, start connecting to the dump port, going back to the trailer. That way, as you take caps off and connect sections of your tank drain, and there is liquid black, it will go into😮 the dump, not on the ground.

How do u set the water pressure regulator to 40 without hooking it up to the camper to check pressure so u don't blow your water lines

Appreciate the vid; Question on the WDH I'm considering changing out to the Recurve #3 but being told that the Shank Post the goes into the receiver hitch has play; I'm told on YT by another RVer that test all these WDH systems. Your thoughts.. Some advise those yellow leveling chalks " OUCH" lol Get yourself the Knock-Off of the Anderson Leveling Chulks their like $40 .. You'll love them.
@OutsidebySide Жыл бұрын
@jesserevilla992 Thanks for the chock recommendation! Once you put tension on the bars, the play goes away. All receivers have play until the bars are tight. We haven’t had any issues with ours and doesn’t make any noise. Let us know what you decide. 🤩

You must be old scouts, just by the way you said leave the site cleaner than you found it! I was in scouts and a leader for many years and I always taught my kids that when we went camping. It’s funny now when we’re out together the kids (34 & 37) look out for us when we leave our site. Great video. this is our first camper. before we had a tent trailer but never use the internal water, as I like working outside.

I had seem other videos that say you should always put the water filter at the spigot with the WPR first. I see you put yours at the camper side. Bottom line is ... does it matter? Another question i have is we will be using the hot water heaterfor the first time and was wondering about anything i need to do for first time usage?
@OutsidebySide2 жыл бұрын
@John Possible we like to connect the filter at the trailer end of the hose because sometimes the spigot is too low to the ground and there is not enough room for the filter & the water pressure regulator. We don’t see why it would matter which end it is on. Always make sure the water heater tank is full before you turn on the electric or propane heat. Thanks for watching! 🤩

@@OutsidebySideGreat job on explaining things you two. My wife and I just purchased a Ram 3500 Diesel and Toy Hauler last week. So thanks for explaining everything. Maybe I’ll do a local run to a nearby lake campground just to get acquainted with everything. How do you keep your interior fridge cold while traveling to your destination ? We plug ours in at home overnight beforehand but when we are driving 3-4 hours away, it tends to get warm by the time we get where we are going. Would love to hear tips on keeping food cold in route !

@toms8680 We sometimes run our propane while driving but that’s not good advice! Sometimes we keep food in an electric fridge we have in the truck until We get to our destination. This might be a dumb questions lol ... if I drain mt sewer into the portable holding tank, can I first line the inside of the holding tank with a trash bag so after I empty the portable tank, the remaining clean up of the inside of the portable tank is easier, just pull the bag out and toss it. ... Similar to when you cook with a crockpot, you can use a crock pot bag and it makes clean up so much easier, after removing the food from crock pot (either cause you ate it all, or cause you keeping for left overs, you just pull the bag from the crock pot and toss it!!! So easy!!!! Please let me know if this is possible for the portable poo tanks!?!?

@@nems_girl3777 @nems_girl3777 First and foremost there is no such thing as a dumb question! We do not drain the black tank in the portable holding tank since we have not had a problem with the black tank becoming full during our trips. These are mainly for the grey tank because they fill up faster! If you need to dump your black tank and can get a bag in there, it sounds like a brilliant idea! See how we all learn from each other! 🤩🤩

I bought an adapter that splits the 50a into 30 and 20. I've only had my new-to-me camper out a few times this year, and none of the sites had a functional 20a receptacle. Figured it might be useful when my ac is running and we want to use a high wattage skillet or if my wife or daughter need a hairdryer. Love having ac, but man it takes up a whole lot of the 30 amps lol. How do you attach the portable tank to the vack of the camper? Looking into getting one to open up my camping site options.

@porkchop10 Sorry to hear you have had issues with the 20 amp receptacles. The AC is great but does take a lot of power as well as the small appliances. 😭 The portable tank has a bumper Mount we purchased on Amazon. We can send you the link if you need it. Thanks for watching! 🤩

Where do you guys buy the amp adapters? I'm new to RVing. Thank you. I bought a 34 foot 1990 safari Serengeti a little over a year ago from the original owner here in Las Vegas. It's in amazing condition and everything works except the backup camera lol. I'm a professional mechanic for 20 years and have already gone through all the systems except water. I'm planning on living in it full-time in next couple of months. It's an aluminum framed body with galvanized sheet metal walls all riveted and painted exterior. They sure don't make them like this anymore.

Newbie here. I didn't catch the specifics about the water heater. I get that you need to turn on the water and let the tank fill before turning it on. Do I need to drain it when leaving? For that matter, do I need to open both hot and cold to drain the lines? Thanks for the videos!
@OutsidebySide Жыл бұрын
@janetmiguel2043 You don’t necessarily need to drain the water heater before you leave. We only drain it for long term storage. The red & blue hoses are the low point drains for the plumbing. To drain the water heater, you have to open the service door on the outside of the trailer & unscrew the plug at the bottom of the tank. It’s also a good idea to drain the fresh tank as well. Thanks for watching! 🤩

I noticed that you did not have a torsion bar between your trailer and tow vehicle. If you are lucky enough to have packed your trailer so that it is balanced, you may not have an issue. If you don’t have a torsion bar and if your trailer is slightly improperly loaded front to back, your trailer may sway going down the road. The torsion bar, sometimes called an anti sway bar will severely diminish or eliminate sway. It is a great addition to your hitch equipment. Another thing to remember is to bring your awning and you slide in before raising your stabilizers. Your awning and your slide like to be deployed and retracted while the trailer is level and balanced.
