Xbox One Series X and PS5 might be on the horizon, but there's not much announced yet in the way of launch games for this next generation of consoles. Still, things could be worse: take these seven vintage launch titles that ideally would, rather than being launched alongside new games machine, instead be launched into the sun, so we never had to play or think about them ever again. Enjoy and subscribe for a video like this every Thursday.

@@ladigoos8835 From what I understand, yeah, it's going to be backward compatible, high-end too, supposedly it will switch hardware modes instead of using a software emulator to run older games better. Good thing too, the only reason Xbox players have to be jealous of the Playstation players is the better lineup of exclusive games, my youngest brother is so smug about that fact he gets to play God of War or The Last of Us. I've only played 30 minutes of God of War, but it was enough to make consider skipping a holiday that year to buy a PS4 (my girlfriend shot that idea down so hard, I'm still feeling the recoil, fair enough I was a complete [expletive] and a moron for even suggesting it). The way I personally like to do it is to put things in a story telling perspective. THPS1-4 were the setup and then THUG1, THUG2, and THAW were the Rising Action of the Tony Hawk series. But then it completely skipped the climax, and everything from Project 8 onwards was an eternal Falling Action that continues to fall til this day.

You know, a Tony Hawk downhill racer could be very good though. It just needs some tweaks. First: The courses are not linear race tracks, but multipath downhill courses more akin to a ski mountain in terms of branching and intersecting with each other. Second: There are a few different modes: 1. Pure speed: Its all about getting to the bottom fastest. The courses would be designed such that a number of the fastest paths do require using grinds and such and jumping through certain openings, etc. And there would be multiple such paths per downhill map. 2. Score Race: You get points for doing tricks, AND for the remaining time you have when you get down. Which means you may want to go for a longer route down, perhaps following a side road between branches to grab some tricks on the way to another route's "fast trick-spamming grind" part to try and get the best of both a fast way down while also basically not progressing so as to use built up speed to perform various actions on a horizontal side road. 3. Classic + Battle: There would also be a handful of "flat" maps that let you do the exploration stuff. In addition, there would be a completely ludicrous "battle" mode for these maps where you can pick up cartoony weapons to shoot at each other, just for the hell of it. You'd get points for tricks, AND for hitting someone who is doing an unfinished trick/grind/etc at the time you hit them. You can set a max number of hits you can take, or just set it to infinite and set a time limit. You can, of course, just have a multiplayer score attack without the cartoony weapons too. 4. Now that I think of it, lets add a third race mode too, which has the cartoony weapons and boost pads and other nonsense included. And while we are at the nonsense, lets make one of the downhill racing tracks basically a track where all kinds of stuff is just floating in air as if there is no gravity (except of course, it still affects the skaters).

@christopherbrau5229
@christopherbrau5229 3 жыл бұрын
@@LadyOnikara the opposite, the new xbone doesn't support the kinect at all. The move to include kinect 2 as part of the original xbone was in understanding the Wii's success because a developer could be assured that every Wii console had the motion controllers vs. a small subset to help ensure AAA titles using thier tech. The problem is that only certain control actions translate well on the kinect, and rather than focusing on those it was used in ways that made it extremely clunky. Utilities like Skype worked really well, rhythm and slower sequential actions/reactions worked well. But the notable lag ensured discrete fast reactions would be painful. Which is required by most titles. So they implemented a control aspect that was never going to work well for most games and freaked out some people who felt they would be spied on... presumably many of those same people own smart phones...and also frequently post everything they are doing on social media... People are quirky

You know, I played Red Steel 2, the launch title for Wii Motion+. Some of the controls were still a bit clunky, but you could switch between sword and gun at will, and the story wasn't bad. Also, the controls were only really ever any bad if you were trying to use your special sword abilities, such as the "dragon", which was pretty much an air cannon, "eagle", which launched enemies into the air(and supposedly let you follow them for aerial combat, though I never could), or "bear", where you punched the ground to cause a small earthquake, and was pretty much the only way to beat the Katakara heavy gunners, who had miniguns with small blast shields, so you had to somehow get behind them, primarily by making them lose their balance with the Bear, and just running around them while they struggled to pick their gun back up. The other two abilities were the "Cobra", which was essentially a mark-and-execute with your gun, and the "Tiger", which let you do a really good block. The normal sword block just blocked bullets. The Tiger deflected them back at the shooter, or if it was a melee fighter, staggered them, which let you do an instant finisher. The Cobra and Tiger, however, were reliably usuable.

I was bracing for Red Steel to be on this list. In my experience, it's an acquired taste, but its jankiness helped me adjust better to other FPS games on the Wii, which refined the meaning of pointer controls in that genre. There are certainly worse launch titles for that system.

Jane: "farting on a cow...for humour reasons." Why do adults always think fart-jokes are funny for children? I didn't laugh about them when I was a child. But than I always pick dry bones in any possible Mario game and make the same joke about my dry humour, so who am I to judge?

I feel fart jokes are basically the children's version of "edgy humour". Part of the appear is supposed to lie with the "rebellious" or "forbidden fruit" value, but the lack of wit possessed by the person deploying the joke stops it from being actually funny.

I think it's less that adults think it's funny for children, and more that adults think that children will laugh at anything, so might as well just go lowest common denominator. Although there are adults who think that's funny, so maybe it's just a fundamental difference in mindset.

When you cast her strongest spell, she has a long, very anime style incantation. However, when in Limit Break mode, it shortens to "Blah blah blah. Tidal Wave!" followedby a massive whirlpool. I'm sure there's more, but I'm not your List McGuffin, just a fan with a suggestion. Besides, others likely have their favourites.
