@@TheeDrumWorkshop I had patented an entire base mounted (internal wired) edrum kit in 2008. Pitched to Kuman right after they acquired alternate mode (drum cat). They went with cheap China crap. 🤮. Love to send to some picks you have an email.

Thanks for your honest review and for the time spent Luke, your videos are always top notch ;-) I'm really sorry that your snare trigger didn't provide the type of performance it was designed for. As you stated, they're each handmade to order and yours must have had a manufacturing issue. Our warranty is total hassle-free and should a trigger not operate as expected, another one would be shipped ASAP totally free of charge :-) For those who wonder, this is how our snare triggers are supposed to behave: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaXPZoyBbd-db7s Thanks for watching!

@ 14:50 Piezo may need a more dense foam on the cone to combat the hotspotting issue. I have been experimenting with silicon cones because with foam it tends to relax from the depression against the head. Silicon has no issues and stays the same in its rebound properties. Whilst the minimal approach seems great the retriggering is coming from the flex in the mount. The other thing I have tried also is the size (diameter) of the piezo. The bigger, the more sensitive... smaller less sensitive. But silicon is definitely the way ahead. 😉

I'm not sure anyone is paying attention here because this video is older; however, I was re watching some videos and noticed something worth mentioning. The rim sounding on the head zone on the TD50, 27 is a direct result of piezo polarity. The modules want to see a negative first side wave in the wave form for positional sensing on the 50,27. This is why all the wiring diagrams show the brass part of the piezo going to the tip, however polarity the of piezo itself can vary. Flipping the wires round they way you did wouldn't fix this you need to do it between the piezo and the jack adapter. This may give you actual positional sensing on the trigger. This problem only seems to apply to the 50,27. It's doesn't happen on my TD 20, Strike, eDrumin or Megadrum. I believe it's inherent to the way positional sensing is processed on the 50,27.

Great review. You were fair. The 50x is definately more finicky with triggers. My ufo triggers on the Tom's struggle with getting reliable rim clicks and rim shots
@TheeDrumWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bruce! That's annoying! It's probably some tweak they made for better triggering on their own pads that has then negatively affected others or something.

Love your videos mate 👌🏻. I'm very close to buying an EFNOTE est-3 but I'm just waiting to see if u might do a video of them first. The only kit around the same price is the vad306 but it seems like it's inferior to the est-3.

Very informative video as always. What hardware did you use to convert your 16"" drum to a bass drum? All risers i ve seen are for 16 to 20 inch drums.

I'm currently looking into getting a 14" snare. Since both Roland and Drum-Tec aren't that pretty and very expensive to boot, I was thinking about getting a decent looking snare and doing an A2E conversion on that myself. What's currently your favourite snare trigger setup, including positional sensing?
@TheeDrumWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
I haven't really found a centre mount trigger that I particularly like because they all hot spot terribly in the centre, except for the Roland digital snare (which I use when I want PS). The best that I've probably used is the DRONE Halo centre cone version, but the usual centre cone hotspot applies.

@@TheeDrumWorkshop Thanks for your reply. I seem unable to find anything like a store for the Drone Halo triggers, just KZbin videos, which look promising. Is there any way to actually get them?
@TheeDrumWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
It's difficult, to be honest as he's more of a hobbyist builder! The best way is to message through his DRONE Facebook page or maybe through his eBay account (kittoys-2012). I don't know how many he builds at a time or what the deal is with parts at the moment but it's probably worth asking. I personally use his Halo side triggers for my toms and love them. The centre one is just as well built as those but just doesn't have the same foam padding.
@bagoroma58793 жыл бұрын
Hi luke how are you? Given your experience, can you recommend some internal tiggers to apply to toms and kicks that work very well? Thank you Alex
@TheeDrumWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
I really like the DRONE Halo triggers, but their availability isn't always great as the creator of the triggers is a bit more of a hobbyist. Not tried his kick trigger, just the toms (they're side triggers), but the kick trigger looks good too. Worth having a look to see if there are any available. The Jobeky spoke triggers (centre ones) are decent for toms too, though I've found mine a bit hot overall - will have a review of out soon. I personally just use a DIY kick trigger as it fits my needs well and they're the simplest kind of trigger to make.
@bagoroma58793 жыл бұрын
@@TheeDrumWorkshop Hi Luke, thanks for your reply. From what I understand the Triggers you prefer are the Halo, but even more those made by you. May I know how you made them since I have a 22 "/ 10" / 12 "/ 16" drum set to make?
@TheeDrumWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hey. No, the Halo are my favourite for toms overall. I've never had good DIY results with toms/snares. It's only the DIY kick drum that I use. It's just a piezo mounted to a bar at the "6 o' clock" position on my drum, with a foam cone. The wiring diagrams can be found online, but for a single piezo it's very simple wiring.
@bagoroma58793 жыл бұрын
@@TheeDrumWorkshop I get it. I've seen internal triggers like the ATV e-drums which has 3 or 4 sensors on the outside of the drums. What do you think about that? Is Roland like that too?

@@TheeDrumWorkshop Hi Luke how are you? Unfortunately I don't know where to write to you outside of KZbin and so I rewrite here. Have you ever tried the prestige series wooden e - drums and Jubeki cymbals? Thank you Alex

I have the Oval Kick trigger : best trigger I've ever had :) Never tested snare trigger tho, but i'm sure you can achieve good results with some tweaking :) Thanks for the review !

Glad you like the kick trigger! I'm not so convinced with the dual zone trigger though - I'm pretty well versed in dialling in triggers and it was basically impossible to get reasonable response from it. Nothing suggested by OVAL worked which makes me think either the design itself isn't up to scratch or my specific model was faulty.
@gordonjeffrey86163 жыл бұрын
I have installed the Ovals on my floor toms (13" and 14") with SD 3ply mutes, still yet to convert my two rack toms. Using the TD-17, I had rim triggering head issues on my 13" until I found the right setting (PD-128 seemed to work better than PDX-12 on my TD17). I thought this was bizarre, since I got single zone triggers (all my tom jacks have cable splitters for cymbals). I still had a bit of double triggering at high velocity until turning up the re-trigger cancel.
@gordonjeffrey86163 жыл бұрын
Never mind, the PDX setting works better for the 13", but not the 14". Sometimes I just don't understand what is going on with edrums.
