Honestly, I personally didn't see Greg and Wirt's interactions to the world as unsettling, I found them comforting. Like when Greg is openminded about the animals around him and gives the frog oddly specifc, quirky names, or when Wirt infodumps about his poetry and the clarinet (I think. Idk I haven't watched the show in a bit). To me, as an autistic person, it didn't feel like they were othered to make the show scarier, it felt like their "weirdness" was meant to make sense of the confusing and scary world, which makes you latch onto the characters more. Kids horror shows with autistic coded characters tend to do this better then adult shows (think; The Owl House, Gravity Falls. They don't poke fun at weirdness, they welcome it.)

I love the idea that Greg and Wirt are autistic. I feel like it’s common in media to see a singular autistic person in a family but I would love to see more about autistic sibling and how they can interact with each other. I feel like Greg and Wirt fall into that.

I haven't thought of Wirt as autistic but I have with Greg. I can see why you have a problem with disabilities being used in certain ways when it comes to horror, to me I think as long as it isn't trying to frame said disability itself as scary or creepy than I thinks it's fine. Actually I would love to see more horror style shows like Over the garden wall with neurodivergent characters.
