I've come to find that when I don't focus on stillness enough (meaning maintain weight on left foot and really focus on keeping the entire leg still throughout the swing), I tend to open my shoulders and mishit it. Hence when I focus on keeping my leg still - and in particular my left knee through impact - my shoulders remain closed as they don't get the chance to open up. So for me there seems to be a direct relationship between my left knee and my shoulders. If my left knee 'opens up' during the swing, my shoulders do too. One has to truly focus on keeping the left leg entire still. Once I do that, the shots are so so crispy, and I stop trying to hit it hard. Whereas I used to be a very 'over the top' golfer. Jim's method of playing golf is simple, but not easy. It just takes some time before your brain retrains itself and starts linking power to staying still.

Hey Jim. I have been watching your vids for some time now and tried to emulate what you do. I've been overlooking just one thing. Today the penny dropped my friend and I can't tell you how super F excited I am. I finally got it. The weight shift is genious but the thing I overlooked was keeping your shoulders still through impact. This is where the understanding of keeping still finally realised itself. Absolute control and confidence and a big absolute thank you!!!! for doing what you do. I hit shot after shot in my backyard without even doubting for a second where the ball was going to end up! WOW! I haven't been playing comps lately due to the boredom and frustration of inconsistency though I can't wait for tomorrow's comp mate. ...Absolute genius. 😁👍

Great video!! Your demeanor and swing seem sooooo effortless! I’m super curious to your thoughts on club head speed for more distance? Is swinging for more club head speed counterintuitive to your theory and the “club just does the work”? Also, thoughts on wrist angles? Is it better to “bow” your left wrist vs “cupping”?
@jimvenetosgolf
@jimvenetosgolf 4 жыл бұрын
Jacob Proctor First you want to understand how clubhead speed is created which is by making a circular and shallow swing. Consequently, club head speed is the result of the swing I teach. You don’t have to add anything to it, and if you do, you’ll lose clubhead speed because the swing won’t be shallow and/or circular. Sign up for the school and I’ll empower you with the understanding while also building you a comprehensive game.
