The issue with the Genesis Arc is how it sets the tone for literally any arc in the future: - high-stake universal threat - somebody perma-dies - potential WOTFI The last time we got an arc that didn’t follow these tropes(Bob Arc), it was called cringe by Luke himself and was labeled as “not epic enough”.

@@joshuataylor5992 It was a great arc and they should've done more like it before getting into dark and dangerous arcs. Why are we supposed to care about characters that don't have any personality. Tari is just a scared wimp who likes ducks and games, Saiko is just a hard bitch who likes guitar and chicken, Boopkins is just a shy guy who likes anime. They gave no character growth or development and so its just pointless to care whether or not they died. They spent 2019-2022 caring way too much about Meggy that not only is she horrible because she appears too much, but now nobody else gets growth.

With or without the thought of the Revelations movie, it is still a good thought on what Zero actually is, a person reaching for perfection but also in need of help. The genesis arc builds up a lot of lore into SMG4 that makes you think about everything in the series, so many ways that Mario could've possibly died and ended the universe.

Honestly, Axol's death felt like "a matter of time" thing to me. In the newer episodes, it kinda felt as though he had nothing going on. His entire existence was set up to be the fake villain of the Anime Arc, and once he served his purpose, there really wasn't much left for him to do. They tried giving him development (including making him go insane twice) and none except for the relationship with Melony really stuck.

Axol was originally suppose to be the villain for the Anime Arc, but they changed that because he didn't have a motivation even though BEING BULLIED BY RACIST INKLINGS IS A MOTIVATION!!!!!! Sorry, I accidentally let my rage out. So they then decided to make Francis the villain because they didn't think the audience would like him, which is a stupid reason to make someone a villain.

It did appear in Wotfi 2021, the Christmas 2021 special and Mr Mario Becomes Uncanny, but the latter one was just an illusion, and Wotfi 2021 didn't have the recolors. So Christmas 2021 is the only one to have Bloopersville.

So if someone were to come late into that SMG4, what episodes in each arc would you recommend? I have been wanting to try to get into all of this back, I really picked up the series somewhere late in the anime arc. Just to have a good understanding which episodes are good enough for you to have a grasp of the SMG4 series and stuff. I never knew about Axol so his death was like not touching to me and I also can´t fully connect to Melony (even though I do like her as a silly girl in this show) because I basically only know that Melony comes from a water melon family and she is some sort of deity. I don´t know if there was a back story to her, so I really like to know if there is an Episode which introduces her and perhaps a story where you can see she comes from, unless of course that hasn´t been made yet, but I feel like Melony could get her own show like Meggy did

I have a problem with Axol’s death : we saw in the past the SMG4’s crew deal with some magical stufs that could make the deads revive. There is where Luke made a scenaristic mistake : when you create a fictional universe you are creating a lore. If you Ad in this lore elements and rules allowing to bring the deads back to life, then the death of characters become pointless cause they could be somehow brought to life. So where is the point in killing characters in this kind of fictional universe except pissing the fans off ?!

Great video. I'm not a big fan of SMG4 arc but it's nice to see opposite opinion, even if i agree that the writting is well made like you said. About the arcs episodes, I don't understand how "War on smash bros. Ultimate" is in the Bob arc, but "Stupid Mario Arcade" or "SMG4 Goes insane" are not in their respective arcs. My personal top (even if any anyone ask it lol) : 6. Revelations arc 5. Waluigi arc 4. Rapper Bob arc 3. Genesis arc 2. Anime arc 1. KZbin arc Best episode of the Genesis arc : "10 Year anniversary Special" tie with "Perfectly Balanced" (but "SMG4 Goes in insane" if he was in the arc). Worst episode of the Genesis arc : The other universe (and yeah I agree, the Newgrounds episode was also really bad).

In my opinion, this is definitely one of the better arcs by a long shot. But it definitely has one MAJOR problem, the “payoff” of Eldridge SMG0. When we are first introduced to SMG0 he is shown to be a virus from another world that is hell bent on seizing the Avatar (that being Mario) and he was genuinely very terrifying. But after Niles took control of Axol, all the intimidation that Zero had was GONE. He became just a generic bad guy. I never had the same vibes with Axol in Zero’s place. I just never really bought them as the same being. And after the ending of the arc I NEVER believed that Zero was dead and I knew that he had to come back and if he didn’t and he REALLY WAS DEAD, it would’ve been one of the most underwhelming villain deaths on SMG4. Keep in mind we literally only saw the actual SMG0 for a couple of seconds before Eldritch Axol took over. And after all that, it felt like the show was pretending that SMG0 never existed at all and Eldritch Axol was the only SMG0. A big example of this is in the video “To become a god” when Bob is having Melony destroy “SMG0” dummies. SMG0 is in quotes because there not actually SMG0 dummies, THEY’RE ELDRITCH AXOL DUMMIES! Why would Bob even make melony destroy dummies of here deceased boyfriend instead of the actual being that was responsible for his death!? Of course now I know why SMG0’s form was never fully shown until the revelations movie. It was to make SMG0’s appearance in the movie to be more impactful, that’s perfectly fine. But you still need to have some kind of satisfying payoff in the genesis arc and actually make the viewer think that the main villain is dead. But overall, this arc is still a good one and still worth a watch. This SMG0 problem just felt too big to be ignored and I just wanted to put this out there. I rate the Genesis Arc an 8/10

Yet in Mario Waits For The Bus, they casually show a picture of SMG0, and that makes even more plotholes. Swagmaster made the park, how did he know about SMG0's true form? And speaking of plotholes, the KZbin Arc said that Kawashima is the creator of the SMG4 universe, yet the Cosmolology lore retcons this. At least Sonic doesn't actively retcon its own lore.

Turbobist 28 I have to (respectfully) disagree with your claim. I wouldn’t take the Kawashima moment too seriously, plus the genesis arc didn’t FULLY retcon it. Kawashima is not the ideal GOD but he is in fact “a god” he even reappears in the revelations arc as a teacher who teaches underlings how to use god like powers. Plus the new origin for the SMG4 universe just feels better. As for the SMG0 photo from the bus video, that’s not meant to be taken too seriously. It’s just meant to be a photo of SMG0 himself. Not meant to be taken seriously. But I can definitely see where your coming from and I respect your outlook on how you see the show’s plot holes and I wouldn’t go too deep into your logic of the situation, so at the end of the day just believe what you wanna believe and go treat yourself.

@@TheKaijuKing54 Good point. Though as for other plotholes I find weird, I don't know how Tari and Saiko got into college. At least Mario Goes To College explains how they got into college. And speaking of unexplained stuff, how did the gang escape the basement? It's the same problem I have with Sonic Forces where there's no explanation why Shadow was gone for 6 months only to come back and kick phantom ass. And there are some weird implications with Niles. Like was Melony just bullying herself? And also, why didn't Melony get suspicious when Niles mentions her "fish boyfriend"? I get she's suppose to be naive, but she shouldn't be this braindead to not be suspicious thst this guy knows about her dead boyfriend. And don't forget that Tari noticed her acting weird, but she didn't tell anyone about it which could've helped her. Wow, what a bad friend. Edit: Nevermind, they explained that Saiko and Tari needed to babysit Mario, which is why they are in college.

It went on for way too long at doomsday but Mario is okay was the last episode of the arc I watched before W.O.F.I 2021 but I didn't even see the rap battle because I just didn't care for the arch at that point so I literally missed axol's death. Needlessly to say the genesis arc was awful because it takes a lot for me not to do care about something.

This is honestly my least favorite arc in SMG4. Heck, I had more fun with Sonic 06's story than this. For starters, this arc has the worst pacing in SMG4. It has way too much filler and excludes some important stuff. Also, I might get murdered, but Wotfi 2021's rap isn't a banger at all and is highly overrated. People call it the best because it's new, but here I am who prefers Wotfi 2017, 2018, and 2019s rap battles because they're so fun. Heck, I had more fun with the one from 2015 than the one from 2021. Also, I really don't like Meggys inclusion in the arc. She had no reason to be in it at all. And her line "I know what it's like to lose somebody" is braindead. Melony had the innocence of a 5 year old was forced to kill her own boyfriend, while Meggy just watched her enemy die in a pathetic way. Heck, it would've made more sense if Mario said it instead of Meggy because his friendship with Greg is way better than Meggy's "friendship" with Desti. Oh, and I really didn't like Meggy in Doomsday But Mario Is Okay where she is unlikable because she hurts Mario and fights him for stupid reasons. And what's worse is that there's no scene where she realizes that he is missing and we only get two seconds of her searching for Mario. Heck, Vicky from Fairly Oddparents had more time to be worried about Timmy being missing and had a scene where she realized that he is missing in the first episode of the show. I liked the concepts and ideas of the Genesis Arc, but I really don't like the execution.
