I painted stuff like my Coil cover and fuse relay cover in a nice gloss black, looked absolutely mint with a red rocker. Mines in Vixen to match the car. Might have to re-do her now haha. She looks mint mate. Also did all my plastic intake pipes and exposed bolts and bits and bobs like wipers and my power steering cover thing in gloss black, also did my heat shield in a matte black enamel, looks stealthy and mean. Also suggest getting a black Steele coolant reservoir, picked a second hand one up for $200 and it just completed it. You might like it one, will 110% be doing your blue and white Ford style on the badge up front. Might even paint the 4.0 DOHC in red to make it pop off the gloss black! Enjoying the vids mate. Welcome back Browney! I have already done plugs and aftermarket coils trying to fix a bit of a miss, which is when I found number 2 or 3 plug hole was full of oil. I finished the job and then stupidly torqued down the RC cover bolts a bit more to see if it would help. I have not had any more missing, but I feel like I may have damaged the threads and gone a bit far. Anyway, I have a spare cover and a gasket kit ready to go. Wanted to paint the cover first of course but am wary of how much to attempt myself. Other videos have shown people struggling to remove the cam phasers but it seems like a lot less of a headache not to have to do this. If 2 RC bolts end up being threaded, will the others be enough to secure the cover? Should I just buy a new engine? haha, thanks for demystifying odd jobs as usual.
@BrowneysGarage3 жыл бұрын
One way to find out mate! 🤣 Remembering that I have no real answer I'd have a stab and say that with a fresh gasket under there you may get away with it even if one or two do turn out to be threaded, but if they're in there and holding now they may not be damaged anyway. That extra height and new rubber of the new gasket I would think will help with the seal. Good luck and just see how it goes, don't burn the car to the ground or bin it just yet! 👍

I followed this to remove the rocker cover for my MK2.5 08 XR6 but when I went to gently pry off the VCT phaser gaskets the passengers side solenoid came out with it - alarmingly not the whole assembly! Just half of it. So part of the assembly is still in the housing above the end of the cams. The only information I found online was about FG's where the whole vct solenoid can simply be pulled out. For BA's there's a screw which holds the VCT phaser in place. Do you have any idea for a BF if you're able to extract the rest of the VCT phaser without removing/affecting the cam??

No clear coat on that part. Don't recall having any dramas at the time and looks to still be holding up well now.

Man I’d love to do this to my car! But ngl i dont even know how to change the oil let alone be confident enough to pull anything apart in the engine!

I should send my cars over to you Browney to service and work on for more content for the channel.

I don't have enough time to work on and service my own cars Bryan, I don't need to be fixing yours too! 🤣 Glad you're here and looking forward to the next video mate, I'm working on it 👍

@@gore1978 Can definitely relate to that mate. Sounds dumb but it helps me just to go out and tidy up the garage/work area a little. Even if just a sweep up regardless of whether it really needed, somehow helps a little. What's on the list to do mate?

@@BrowneysGarage I work out under a carport so limited time due to weather. I have coils and spark to change, air and fuel filter on the territory. Air, fuel & oil filters on the ba and air and oil on the fg. Mind you that's on top of swapping trailer loom and connecting up extra reverse cams

So I decided to try the ford logo on my car and can also confirm that if you don’t have any chapstick, lipstick works a treat.

One of my spark plugs was 100% submerged in oil from the leaky seal. Would probably explain the small misfire the car had.

Much the same as far as I know, except the coils are bolted in and VCT solenoids may be slightly different too?
