Hey Steven. This was fun! I'm an avid reader of many works of literature, technical books and philosophy, and OG was one of the first on strength training I bought. I must say, it's really quite excellent. Your balance between detail and succinctness is really something to behold. OG is worth it just for the information about physiology and tendon health. Made a lot of progress towards my own goals and have managed to heal some long standing tendon problems in my wrists due to a machine tool injury. Thank you from a very grateful and humble student of your work!

Wow. This is going to be awesome. I read your first book several years ago, and stumbled over it again like a week ago. This is exactly what I needed as a complement to the book.

I bought the book, it is sooo well written and structured, and i have learned that i was doing calesthenics like a monkey would play a piano, the only draw back, was the quality printing done by amazon, wasn't great or solid
@Steven-Low Жыл бұрын
Glad you're enjoying the book. Enjoy the video series too! Yeah, unfortunately the printing quality from print on demand books isn't the best, but it is what it is. Publishing companies make better quality books, but they only give you 10% royalty which is a pittance.
@senhajirhazihamza7718 Жыл бұрын
Totally understandable, but since the book is big and heavy, the book get quicky damaged with poor quality paper/printing, since the book is not cheap, (which is fine because has valuable content) a reader will be more happy to conserve it neat in his library or to offer to someone else etc... so should maybe find a way with amazon to upgrade their printing on demand offer specially for books as big as this one, again it's a great book, it just that the user experience would benefit greatly from a better quality printing

I'm a former gymnast of 20 years, but now I'm in my 40s. I have lost a ton of flexibility and strength but still have that "base". Does this apply to women as well? I know there is a difference in physiology so just wondering if it was written with a male athlete in mind only. Thanks!
@Steven-Low Жыл бұрын
Yeah, all of the concepts apply to women as well. There are some differences in how men and women train, but usually these don't make too much of a difference if you're a beginner or jumping back into things. Bigger changes are usually down the line like intermediate-advanced and beyond. In other words, I wouldn't worry about it until you've started again and built up a solid base over about a year of training. If you want to know some of the differences for now, Renaissance Periodization has a good video on some of the differences here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4mpoISMm6xsbbc

I mean no disrespect, i have your book, i love your book, but how is it possible someone who weighs 140lbs can dip an extra 190lbs? I just cant believe that. Wouldnt your body compensate during the training necessary to build that kind of strength by packing on a ton of muscle, thereby making you weigh much more than 140lbs?
@Steven-Low6 ай бұрын
There's a video of it +190 lbs / 86kg. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIupfmCrotl_o5Y Basically, a good amount of muscle and a lot of strength training. This isn't even close to the heaviest weighted dips people do out there. There's people dipping over ~340 lbs/154.2kg for instance now. www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/98317-heaviest-weighted-tricep-dip
