Acutely injured my meniscus on 31st July 2022. 2.5 weeks ago in a sporting accident, was playing football on extremely uneven ground and put all my bodyweight on my right knee, in an an awkward position and received a varus injury (outwards). Damaging my LCL and my lateral meniscus. My LCL healed within days. My lateral meniscus has mostly healed. Can do three to five squats. Had zero surgery, and to my surprise, my knee was completely destroyed when it was injured. Being young, resting it, eating healthily (plenty of proteins), getting good sleep all helps. I hope with three to four more weeks or rest, and then these physiotherapy exercises, will help me get it fully healed. Will have my X-ray tomorrow and see what my GP thinks when he hears the progress. Stay strong brothers!

How is the progress now? Are you feeling normal? I have a grade 2 medial meniscus tear and how long should I rest and recover?

I have a meniscus tear. On my second and third sessions, I rode a stationary bike for 10 minutes, then the physiotherapist put 1kg weight on each ankle and made me exercise for 40 minutes. What do you think of this?

Great advice but I'm really limited with what I can do because of pain, swelling, and limited motion depending on level of swelling. In my mind I recall how to do those movements and my mind wants to but my knee won't allow me to. It's been 4 years, at what point is it time for the doctor to say we need to do surgery to find the problem? ??? Unfortunately on my MRI I have some posterior lateral damage from a TPF but not definitively diagnosed.

Can conservative management resolve the popping sound and sensation that the patients find distressing? Would this need to be resolved by meniscectomy?

Although a bucket handle tear would probably need surgery? What you guys think?
@RVilkaitis
@RVilkaitis 2 жыл бұрын
Yup bro. Just had one my self. You need to exercise constantly after your surgery, because movement in your knee starts to become really hard. I havent done excercises for 3 months now and having a tough time crouching

As far as we know surgery doesn't perform better than sham even in bucket handle tears and in cases where patients report locking of the knee. On an individual basis I'd recommend conservative therapy and consider surgery in case symptoms don't improve satisfactorily.

Leg curls are an effective way to train the harmstings. I would never say that a specific exercise is bad for you, it always depends on the dose and joint alignment. If you doctor says that he should provide you with a good alternative and make sure not to enforce fear of movement in patients...

@@dariussuite1605these are called leg extensions. Some people say the high stress on the patellar tendon makes this unfit for rehab, but there are also many physiotherapists that say you can't rehab effectively without it. It's best to start slow on them and always control the weight with extra care.

@@annanonymous5644 with a KB swing you should utilize the swing to train your explosive hip extension. Without an explosive swing the exercise is pretty useless.
