I'm sorry you are feeling overwhelmed with life. I will lift prayers for you. Mostly, it's a cycle. The years 2020 and 2021 were rough for me. I have February (last month) then I move in with my daughters for about a year (hopefully this will be the mind rest that I need). It's been tough for a lot of us. Hang in there!!

@@deenacurls Well, these are hard times. And someone will always understand where you are. Either someone has been there or they are there now. I've actually been anxiety free since December (last week); it's been heavenly!! I keep myself in the day (do what I can in that day). When my mind tries to wonder and worry...I pull it back. This and making my decision on what has to be done. Once I made my decision, peace followed. I thought it would be humiliating for me to pack up my things and move with my kids for a bit. But I found peace... I could have stayed in my apartment for another year, but the anxiety and worry was getting the better. So I went to God, and told him I'm putting my stuff in storage and moving in with the kids. You want me to stay? You will have to share this with me. No answer, and everything around me opened up to leave. I love living alone, but I think staying with my girls for a year will be much needed rest. So deciding on what I needed (not necessarily want) and accepting that all I can do is what I can do. I will take care of everything else when I get there (future). You have my word. I won't forget to pray for you. Take care and be safe.

Please if you can’t afford expensive hair styles then don’t worry. You can learn to style your hair through KZbin videos or trial and error on your own head. Keeping it simple with the following should be enough to keep your hair moisturised, hydrated and healthy: 1) sprits hair with water 2) coat hair with leave in conditioner (the more strands that receive it the better) 3 seal this moisture with olive oil or coconut oil or another oil you have. I find almond oil make my hair happy Completely agree with all the tips you made Joy-el. Love your channel and just love your vibes! Feel like we would definitely get on as friends if we were from the same world. Keep it up and I love these chit chats! Xx

Natural hair is already a task to maintain but when u have all of the companies and influencers throwing products and rules at u left and right, I see why alot of Black women leave the natural hair movement. I used to be a "product junkie." Alot of money and time was wasted. Here a tip of advice new naturals: We live in a capitalistic society, every hair product is gonna proclaim to do good things to get your money🤷 u could google every product or item in your kitchen and find "benefits" of it for natural hair. Just find what YOU like and stick with it.

Girl, you ain’t lyin’ 😄 Everytime I fall for the hype of something I only like it for a little while, mainly because I’m always changing my hair color and therefore the porosity changes. So,,,, I watch those videos and get suckered in to more products that suit my hair at the time. I’m going to try S-Curl or better yet pull out my Blue Magic hair grease!

Yeah I'm getting to the point that i just want to have short natural hair instead of obsessing over growing it out. When i had my tapered cut, I wasn't hyper focused on how i looked but since it's gotten longer I'm more self conscious on how i look and getting it even longer. Thank you for this video and reminding us to stick with the basics

I think people overthink natural hair too much. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it but it doesn't HAVE to be expensive, you don't HAVE to have a closet full of hair products to keep up with it, and you don't HAVE to have a 20-step wash day routine. The real key is just to really lock in that moisture, seal it, and wear a protective style, it's not about genetics, you will notice/see growth as long as you take care of it which in turn the length will be retained. Obsessing over hair length, growth, curl pattern, etc. is all so unnecessary. The journey should be FUN, not stressful and harrowing lol.

A straight forward and down to earth video. Thanks! This May will be three years for me natural, so my go to afro is gone. Hair is too big now. I wash my hair...afro for about two days then I put the half to front in braids and half to back in scrungi. I design the front in different ways. When you are 62 and have natural hair, you only have so many mature styles to go to (with limited hair). I will do the ponytail puff but not the half head puff. I still have trauma memories from being a child (11 & 12) and having my string snatched off my head (same old dumb boy-Sydney). Anyway, I don't wear protective styles; my braids are my hairstyles. 😌 I don't wear wigs or weave; it's just me. I'm lazy. I'm just a shampoo and leave-in conditioner girl...nothing more nothing less. I had relaxed hair for 40 years; straight hair is over (I have accepted this). I'm OK with that. As it get longer (in a few years), rollers and more will straighten it out some (not straight straight). I'm at peace and thankful to have hair. Great job!

I’m so glad I went natural for the last time long before the bandwagon that had these companies flooding the market with products. I used to have to order or drive to NOLA to buy most stuff. Since I already knew by then what ingredients my hair likes/dislikes when I go to the bss can immediately weed out a lot just by reading the label. But I see newer naturals staring at the shelves looking overwhelmed. And my hair dislikes butter so no matter how many new butters come out I don’t buy them. Whenever people say natural hair is more expensive than relaxed I say it depends on how you choose to care for your hair. I spent more relaxed because I always got my retouches and most of my hair cuts at salons. It was very expensive and time consuming. As a natural no one touches my hair except me. I don’t spend much on products. I’ve used curly perm products on my natural hair and when I had a curly perm. They work well depending on the weather because they tend to have a lot of glycerin

Interesting about using curl perm products.. I have high porosity hair and I want something basic that will keep my hair shiny and tangle free :)

I suggest people go to natural hair meetups and shows. Usually with the ticket price you get so many products then there are vendors selling at deep discounts. Also there will be stylists doing tutorials and giving lectures. Sometimes doors prizes with more products or even a product swap table.

I appreciate your honesty…I am black with naturally curly and wavy hair when I wash it my hair is long too so I do say products is everything and practice to I agree with you it’s very liberating being natural because the cost of going to a salon is very expensive and time consuming…I’ve been natural for about 10 yrs and when I go to the hair salon once in a while the hairdressers tell me whatever I am doing at home keep it up “practice, practice” help and does work because whether I straighten or just go natural with a twisted out or something people ask me who does your hair or how do I do it! Like you said I’ve watched a lot of KZbin over the years and that has really helped! I spent a lot of weekends practicing when I know if I messed up I would try something else and that why I used the weekends or days I knew I was going to be home to practice so if the hairstyle didn’t work out for me I would go to plan A and if that didn’t work I had to think about plan B and come up with something creative you know we have to be with our many textures of hair that what make it so great and liberating though really but thank U for your honesty and just being so real you’re doing a great job showing and helping so many multicultural girls and women how to do or take care of their hair or daughters hair…God have made us so diverse and that is “great” we all makes up the world and God made us on purpose and “how about that!!!”👏🏾

@@carencurrybeauty Hey, here's what I use! My hair is high porosity, high density, coarse, and probably 4b/4c, and these products have been working well so far! *Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil - Shampoo + Hair Masque:* To wash and deep condition my hair *Camille Rose Honey Leave-in:* To moisturize and twist my hair after washing (I tend to style my afro in a twist-out!) *Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin:* I'll usually keep my hair in twists for a few days, but I like to use this to spray my twists and scalp to keep it moisturized *Jojoba oil:* To put on my fingers while taking out the twists; reduces frizz *EDEN BodyWorks Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Milk:* I usually twist my hair at night without any products (I'll make larger twists than I do after washing my hair), but if I feel like my hair needs moisture, I'll use this! That's everything I've been using for the past few months! ^_^

I started transitioning 2 years ago. I didn’t do the big chop, just got it trimmed regularly. Now it’s mostly all grown out and I feel really overwhelmed. I’ve been wearing wigs for the first time. I’ve tried a bunch of expensive products that didn’t work. I watch the videos and think I can’t do that. I’m trying to learn to do twist outs. But I’m learning my natural hair texture and trying to figure out what works.
