I love how when there's a seriously overgrown coat, you explain some of the backstory. Without that, it would be easy for people to blame neglect when it might be as simple as an animal managing to wander off and remain hidden away from the flock, or, as in this case, a retirement where it might be hard to find someone new who can take over.

Yes, thank you very much for explaining what happened. It makes a huge difference and keeps the trolls at bay.
@ultimatewitcherfan66773 ай бұрын
Indeed. Not knowing the situation can make it extremely easy to jump to conclusions and blame it on neglect, and/or animal cruelty/abuse. Explanations really do help keep trolls at bay…

I appreciate your compassion not only toward the sheep, but also to the family. I suspect there are details that you are not sharing about the hardships they have endured. How fortunate they are to have you!
@ultimatewitcherfan66773 ай бұрын
I’m glad you took the time to explain the situation with these sheep. The trolls would have had a field day accusing the owners of neglect, animal cruelty, etc without an explanation. Sometimes the explanation is as simple as a sheep wandering off and hiding from the flock, and sometimes it’s not so simple like hardships and shearers retiring. The owners were lucky to find you to help them out!

The description of attention span required, calories burned, on top of boiling heat help explain why these videos fascinate me. I appreciate someone who is the best at what they do. This animal lover is mesmerized by the long blows of lovely hair revealing gorgeous skin, compassionate pro handling, and expert maneuvering of such a wicked tool. I live in a a dense urban environment, have never known a sheep, yet here I am, subscribed, and bingeing back videos. Thanks for sharing your journey. Shear on.

I’m sure you saw the rescue that Cammy, Graeme and the guys over in Scotland last year. That sheep I believe the called her Fiona, was 3 years without being sheared. They had to rescue her from a cave in the side of a cliff over there. You did a fantastic job shearing this one too. It is like she melted into you, and I could see you melting a bit as well. Although I’m from the Atlantic Coast of Canada, 🇨🇦 we experience a fair amount of high humidity in my home province of New Brunswick, which borders on our friends the state of Maine. I also have family in Houston, in The Woodlands as well as Clear Lake City ( home of NASA, just north of Galveston. I understand it being almost 100% humidity yet no rain. You did a super job and I’ll bet all of the sheep feel so much better. ❤😊

I just want to say, thank you for the advice you gave me a while ago through my email. I raise angora rabbits. I've really gotten good at shearing them, and part of it is because I've been watching your shorts (I've never sat down and watched a whole video though, this is the first time, partly because I wanted to leave a comment). I know rabbits are much smaller, but watching the way you move your wrists and the shaver have really helped me perfect my skill. You do such an amazing service and the sheep look like they just adore you once they're free. Thank you so much for these videos!

Oh, my goodness, Katie. You are a miracle worker with your shears. I can only imagine how the sheep felt after losing that matted mess. You make it look easy, but we all know how hard it must be. Kudos to you for your professional and ethical way of shearing the sheep and also being understanding to the owners. Please remember to stay hydrated while you work outside during the extremely hot weather conditions in Texas and elsewhere. 🐑❤🐑❤🐑❤🐑❤

I grew up in the Imperial Valley in Southern California. In the Sumer it can get to be 120 degrees. But some of my favorite memories is when out family would donate our land in the state with a cooling ditch, ( a slanted concrete water pond, that sheep could jump in after sheering. Those ranchers shaved a sheep every 3 min or so, then put a stamp them, so we know who is who. Then she sheep would take a break in our large pen in our front yard to eat and relax. Those were some of my favorite little kid memories. Playing with the little ewes. You do a great job sheering. thank you for showing us and educating the public.

Thank you for doing such a wonderful job and explaining how this happened. Really says something about these sheep's wool growing capacity to manage to grow that much in 8 months. Good to see them happy and healthy after their haircuts and wonderful to see responsible, loving owners. Sometimes life hust gets in the way, ALOT in this case. They likely either didn't have the right equipment or knew they didn't have the knowledge to safely do this themselves and didn't want to risk hurting their sheep.
