This saved my life after over 7 years of neck and back pain from muscle-nerve dysfunction.

It works! I've had it done 3 times at one place and over a year later at another place. It does hurt during, but i had immediate relief when they took the needles out. It will be sore for a day, but it was so worth it!

I have tendinitis in my shoulder, and the dull pain is *horrible,* especially at night. Would this procedure offer me some relief? I told my doctor about a year ago I was fantasizing about taking a needle and stabbing the area. He laughed and told me about “dry needling.” I’d never heard of it before, but it certainly looks promising.

So I have lower back pain and I'm seeing a therapist for it and he tried dry needling on my back and it didn't hurt at all but after I got home and this whole week my back has been screaming so bad I think dry needling made it worse
@OverheadAthletics3 ай бұрын
Most likely that is just an acute response to the acupuncture. The needled area will be sore after because the acupuncture causes some microdamage to the affected area. I would not worry about it but if it continues to be a problem, talk to your therapist about it as the needling could've been done improperly which can cause more structural damage than usual. Hope this helps!

So can dry needling help break up muscle adhesions.?
@OverheadAthletics4 ай бұрын
Dry needling can for sure help break up muscle adhesions! It promotes blood flow to the affected area which can help alleviate some pain as well as enhance healing to a certain extent. It is a great treatment for releasing muscle tension in injured areas. Hope this helps!

It's painful as tattoos. Bcs needle is very thin and only cause little Shorness for two to three days.. But actually it's helps.

It all depends on the person. There are many sensations that come with acupuncture but it is not painful or anything like getting a tattoo.

My feet are very sensitive to the needling and will hyper-twitch in certain places. I’m also bony in a lot of spots that make it more sensitive, but overall it is very euphoric when you hit that trigger point. I always know my girl Jenn hit the right place too because when I get home my dog will sniff all the needle holes and the ones where she was really spot-on makes him cough, like they’re releasing dirty stuff! Sorry, edit to say that tattooing for me causes a grinding feeling. Needling is not like that. I find the tattoo feeling euphoric as well though… I should try getting a tat on a main trigger point to see if it helps!

Poor dry needling skills. Couldnt properly illicit the local twitch response he had to resort to needle twirling and trickery.
@OverheadAthletics4 ай бұрын
While it is nice to get a twitch response and fatigue the neuromuscular junction it is not required to elicit a beneficial response locally or neurologically. And spinning the needle relates to soft tissue and fascial tensioning and has nothing to do with the twitch response.

@@OverheadAthletics Lidocaine injection versus dry needling to myofascial trigger point. The importance of the local twitch response C Z Hong. Am J Phys Med Rehabil. 1994 Jul-Aug The author concludes that it is essential to elicit LTRs during injection to obtain an immediately desirable effect In a more recent commentary titled ‘Treatment of Myofascial Pain Syndrome’, Hong stated that the purpose of ‘the fast-in and fast-out needle technique’26,28-30 in a fan or cone shape is to ‘ensure that all or most sensitive loci (i.e. tiny nerve endings) are encountered’.28 Widely considered one of the world authorities on both dry needling practice and experimental research, Hong further reported that ‘high-pressure stimulation by needling’26,28,31-33 or ‘mechanical irritation of the needle’26,34 to ‘multiple sensitive loci or nociceptors within the same MTrP’26,28,31-34 likely ‘elicits a local twitch response that subsequently provides a very strong neural impulse to the MTrP circuit to break the vicious cycle so that MTrP pain is relieved

Acupuncture vs. Dry Needling Acupuncture and dry needling are often confused with each other. Both procedures involve the insertion of needles into the skin. However, there are some important differences between these two procedures. Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been used for over 3000 years. It is based on the belief that there is a life force energy, known as qi, that flows through the body. The goal of acupuncture is to restore balance to the body by correcting any imbalances in the flow of qi. Dry needling is a relatively new procedure that has only been used for the past few decades. It is based on the Western medical model of anatomy and physiology. The goal of dry needling is to release muscle tension and trigger points. There are some similarities between acupuncture and dry needling. However, there are also some important differences. Acupuncture is a holistic approach to medicine that looks at the whole person, not just the symptoms of the disease. Dry needling is a more targeted approach that focuses on specific muscle groups.
