Great video. I know how you feel with the needing to get everything working by the next day. Ofc it's always best to replace with new, but It's amazing the things you can fix with plastic welding staples, soldering, epoxy, and jb weld..

Thank you! And yes - that’s the way I see it with these repairs: Worst case is that I have to replace with new; Best case is me cobbling a repair together that lasts for a few months until I have to replace it with that new part anyway - hahaha!

Has the coolant leak stopped?
@GTArmstrong35 минут бұрын
It did, yes - I was very pleased with the result...but I now have another, bigger issue that you will see in my latest video. Do you have a similar repair that you're about to do?

I noticed when you drained the radiator, liquid was clear like water. No coolant?
@GTArmstrong Жыл бұрын
Once upon a time it was coolant, but, because of the continuous leak, I opted to use water instead until this repair was done. I'll test it for a few weeks and swap out the water for coolant.

All the best - it's something I'll gladly do again - but I'd also use these insights that were offered on Reddit by someone much more experienced: "No. 1 not all plastics are weldable. Fibre infused plastics and certain types aren't. Try to keep the iron on the cooler side. Carbonising the plastic is a good way to a bad weld. Blend the sides slowly and with as smooth a motion as possible with little pressure. Anything which contains pressure will be hard to make good." So I'd add these few steps as well: 1) Confirm my plastics are compatible by doing a quick melt test somewhere else on the tank. 2) Cut a slot or a groove along the area that I was going to infuse more material using a file or similar kind of tool. 3) Do a bit of tidying of to make it a bit more presentable...mine is out of sight but still - haha.

Is your next video going to be fixing your driving light lense?
@GTArmstrong Жыл бұрын
I've been exploring various looks and options for this - to replace with originals just costs way too much - and yes, this is definitely on the list off things to do.

@@GTArmstrongI just switched to hella led lenses. my old lenses were h4 housings and I have new h4 bulbs. Shipping would probably be a lot out to you though from the US :(

Hi Mikey - thanks for this input on options - would you mind please sharing a link or part number for those of us that would like to explore this further?

@@mikeygarcia3017 - H4 driving lights - that's pretty impressive, seeing as though I have h4s in my headlights. What prompted the change to LED? ...I'd love to see some pictures - would you mind sharing? gareth@garethtarmstrong.com

Noticed that the amount of content is really dropping, what happened?

Yeah - very frustrating - I’ve got to pay the bills and so I’ve been sidetracked by some big commercial projects that consume just about all of my time…but I’ve got some time over the next few months and will be doing some more work on the car - stay tuned 👌🏻
