Porsche 944 Radiator Installation | Pedalbox Fleet | Episode 24

No we didn't buy /another/ car! Fortunately this is just visiting.
Our friends 944 needs a new radiator and while we're in there we're doing a thermostat too, not quite as easy as we'd hoped for a "while we're there" job but after an hour or so fighting with a circlip we got back on refitting the radiator. All in all not a terrible job, but glad that it was done, the old one was really badly rotten and the fins flaked off really badly!

Temp control is not usually an issue with a NA 944

Yeah seems to have been good, other than the thermostat and general poor condition of the radiator ejecting fins

So typical for 944 repairs take apart and try again three times. And they always need more work. Great cars, just always need something.

Love that gulf livery do you know any info on it? Wrap or paint? Ive been wanting the martini or players livery for my 86 NA.

Blue paint with wrap for the orange and lines as I recall.

Why was there water in the radiator and not coolant? Is this vehicle water cooled?

It'd been leaking for a while, so it was topped up with water until the new radiator went in so to good stuff didn't go to waste. It got flushed after the test run home and proper mix went in for winter

Will dig some out for gore value. The ones we did on the day didn't quite come out right. Fortunately the old rad still sits in the scrap bin :)
