I had the same issue where none of the VR bindings were populated. They were all blank. My biggest mistake was thinking maybe the Steam files needed to be verified. I found out the hard way to never verify the files in FS2020. It deletes all of your files. Of course after this happened I see posts stating this is a known issue and never do it. So around 8 hours later I was finally able to get things going and it is pretty amazing. As a long time flight simmer hobbyist this is the beginning of a completely new era. Probably the only good thing that happen in 2020....lol.

I got MSFS2020 running nicely on my 2080ti/R9-3950x/32GB ram/HP Reverb G2, even when flying low. These settings are much higher than what you have and they work surprisingly well, so here you go: My settings: Under the 'Developer Settings' tab' in 'OpenXR Development Tools for Windows Mixed Reality' set the Custom render scale to 250. I have it open, I may not need it, not sure. Haven't checked. Works regardless. Here are my VR Graphic settings in MSFS2020: Render scaling: 170 edit: changed to 160, better. Anti-aliasing: TAA (best quality) Terrain Level of detail: 180 Terrain Vector Data: Medium Buildings: Ultra Trees: Medium Grass and Bushes: Low Object Level of Detail: 200 Volumetric Clouds: High Texture Resolution: High Anisotropic Filtering: 8X Texture Super Sampling: 2x2 Texture Synthesis: Low Water Waves: Medium Shadow Maps: 768 Terrain Shadows: Off Contact Shadows: Off Windshield Effects: Ultra Ambient Occlusion: Off Reflections: Off Light Shafts: Medium Bloom: On Glass Cockpit Refresh Rate: Medium Here's a tip: while you are flying, you can change the 'Render Resolution', you can set it higher when you are above 2000 feet, and lower when closer to the ground. NOTE: however: IMPORTANT!!: the VR setting for 'Render Resolution', for me, will switch back to 100 when restarting the game!! I set it to 170 each time, and it always switches back to 100. I have to reset it to 170 each time I start the game. It seems to be the only setting that changes.

@@OverkillSimulations In 'SteamVr'/Settings/Video/Per-Application Video Settings/Manage Video Settings, my 'Custom Resolution Multiplier' slider is set to 100%. Here you can also use the dropdown to set a different value for individual VR games. I have read that 'Open XR' is not needed for the G2, so I don't know if it's actually being used. I will test the 'Custom Resolution Multiplier' since I just now discovered it. I will first reduce the render scale in the 'Developer Settings' tab' in 'OpenXR Development Tools for Windows Mixed Reality' to see what it does if anything. edit: I found that the setting in Openxr did nothing for MSFS. The Custom Resolution Multiplier setting in SteamVR I found leaving it at 100% works best. That leaves the 'Render Scaling' setting in MSFS which you can change on the fly. :) which works better at 160 nearer the ground but can be changed to 170 at higher altitudes. I hope this works for you. The 'Render Scaling' setting is the one setting that makes the most difference. NOTE that each time I restart MSFS, that setting reverts to 100%. edit: update, I had to make a registry key to get OpenXR to work. I have the 'custom render scale' set to 200%. So OpenXR works with Windows Mixed Reality. So you do not need to open the Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR.

Thanks for the video hon. Just my two cents; since you're running essentially at 8K (2x4K) you wouldn't need as much if any Antialiasing compared to someone like myself running similar but lower tiered hardware (2700x, 32GB 3200, RTX 2080 Super), where I tend to lower the rendering scale like you suggest but keep TAA enabled since I'm using an Oculus with much lower resolution per eye. But it's definitely a balancing act to find that sweet spot! EDIT: Regarding Windshield Effects; I keep that at ultra especially in VR as you lose the real-time reflection of your cockpit on anything lower than ultra. It's a small detail but it's enough of a real-world thing we see that it tricks your brain even further into believing you're in an actual plane. ;)

For anyone on the fence, VR is really awesome. Great stuff guys... And it's cheap now too!!! With entry level sets at just a few hundred bucks (plus your PC setup)... I know this reads like a sponsored ad, but yeah nah. I don't like Oculus' Facebook integration, and they're leaning more toward standalone VR. Valve's Index is overpriced and too low res, but awesome tracking. And HP's Reverb G2 is great, except for the LOUSY controllers, so for anything other than sims, it's meh..... ARGH. I kinda WISH I could be a fanboy of one at this point, but nah.

Note to KZbin/Overkill Great stuff!!! ... first time in my, as of this date/time 75 years, I’ve sat down and took notes on your tips. I usefully implemented them! ...so thanks... BUT since you found/solved a problem with Oculus as well as your go-to-Pimax? [Mine is a Pimax 5KPlus (P5K).] I am assuming you have access to an Oculus HMD. FOR Oculus/MSFS VR, there are comments online which asks us to update the Oculus runtime registry (I’ve got the Quest2)...in my case , the path is, as seen by the Imgur pix below. Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1“ G:\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_32.json”. imgur.com/a/Ze1VTGc Quest runs wonderfully(Connected) now...but guess what...when I turn off my Quest 2, and restart with my P5K on, while my Pimax is found by PiTools and SteamVR, it’s NOT by MSFS2020 anymore...is this the same situation I had with my QUEST2 not being found until I changed the registry to the above path for OpenXR? Previous to my Quest2 trials and registry addition, MSFS2020 was picking up my Pimax5K Plus(which still gives wonderfully wide FOV & yaw, pitch, & roll, but won’t/can’t give me consistent x,y,z head tracking). Now, it gets the same “No headset Found”, error. Is SteamVR now looking for the same OpenXR runtime, but can’t because I changed the path to oculus? And if so, am I going to have to switch out the registry path each time I change my VR headset? Thanks I’m advance for your speedy reply and advice. Chas
