Talk about an adventure!!! In this episode I head up Highway 395 to the Eastern Sierra & find some amazing campsites in & around Coyote Flats.
Despite the cold and sometimes windy weather, we had a great trip wheelin' & camping in a few different locations. After a few days & cold nights we decided to head back down the mountain to thaw out a bit.
We had no plan, no agenda & really no idea where we were going to lay our head down on that last night. Hard to believe we were patient enough to make it all the way to the Pinnacles before our wheels stopped turning.
I hope you enjoy the video & are all healthy & safe!!!

Hi Jerry - Yes - the 395 is a special Hwy and I consider it a gift to us in California. There are a lot of things about California I'm not much of a fan of...but the Eastern Sierra area makes up for all of it.. Happy Trails!

Great video, I took my girls to Funnel in my 1500 before I even made the first payment :), I bent the crap out of my skid plates, and traumatized my children in the rock garden; it was great. But the elements are tough up there, the altitude can hit you hard, lots of exposure, and the wind is no joke. Had bears and what I think were Marmots too. Testing out my new Dometic and Jackery in the kitchen right now. Thanks for taking us on this journey.

Thanks for the comment. This video was from Memorial Weekend camping...I just got back this past weekend in a different area and we were able to sleep with the door rolled up and just had the screen separating us from the mosquitoes. Was much warmer this past weekend. I think it was just a fluke that it got that cold during this trip. Have fun in the desert!!!

Awesome video and drone footage. I Went to Coyote Flat a couple years ago and spent the first night at Funnel Lake. You are correct the routes into the lake are rough!!! The route we took in I think was from the north. Anyway it was extremely rocky, especially at the very end where it went down a steep hill. The way out was at the other end and, though not as rocky, the rocks were bigger and required very slow, guided, driving. I was in a stock Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road. Overall the Flat is one of my favorite places. We took a road that ascended over 11,000 ft. and dead ended at a place were we could see down into Bishop Creek and South Lake. I would definitely go back.

Hi Chaz - I've thought about buying a propane fire pit, but between all the extra room needed for the fire pit and especially all the extra propane needed, I just don't have the room. But the annex helped a ton especially with my larger Mr Heater in there...The only thing I truly miss is the crackling of the fire....But honestly I'm just happy to be out and have a whole new appreciation of the outdoors after this whole COVID situation. Take care!!!

Last question for you.😉 When you installed the Field and Stream 6-Pack Campsite Flooring, did you have to use double back tape or Velcro to attach to the floor on the ladder side that flips up?
@395jnky
@395jnky 4 жыл бұрын
I used double back tape to hold one side of the Velcro to the bottom of the tent, and then some more double sided tape to hold the other piece to the F&S mats. Works like a charm. I only did the Velcro in 2-3” strips in 5-6 areas. Seems to be working well.

I can't imagine how much money you have tide up to go camping on a simple camping trip, I'll bet it's over 100k withe the cost of the jeep included, especial RTT camping tent $$$$, special cookers $$, must have coffee machines, it just go on and on, maybe you should see how cheap you can actually go jeep camping, as a comparison , like a $99 ground tent that sets up faster than your $$$ RTT and a old coleman stove that costs $30 a a swapmeet, you have gone off the deep end on camping gear for jeep camping, doesn't make a whole lot of sense, leave all the crap at home and camp as it was intended cheap get away.
