I agree with your take about Sochan. Literally every time Tre Jones came into the game, the Spurs went on a run. Everything was flowing so much more smoothly. I'm not saying that Tre is a starting caliber PG on a championship team or anything, but at a minimum he's competent at his position. He scored and shot well too. If he can hit threes, that obviously makes him much more playable. I'm not sure what people see in Sochan. Big ball handlers who can't shoot just don't work.

For me my Hot Take aligns with Rusty’s Rui needs to be a much bigger focal point of that LA offence. To me I would think he is capable of being more consistent as like the 4th option/best player over DLo.

Just a tip from a dude in his mid-30s, learn how to cook 6 really good go to meals, make sure you can do one or two egg dishes like shakshuka or a solid omelet. You will be healthier, do way better with the ladies and save tons of money

My hot take is that Luka will be a + defender this season. He has been awesome on the defensive end through 2 games (compared to the rest of his career and the other offensive focused guards in the league). He's getting targeted constantly and is holding his own. Not to mention forcing key steals. If the Mavs are top 4 Luka is guaranteed to win MVP and if his defense is what I think it can be he might win MVP even if they aren't top 4.

Yh idk why people have the mentality of defense being some magical talent that you either have or you dont, imo most NBA players can be decent or even good defenders especially ones with extremely high basketball IQ's like Luka. I think him rarely having an opportunity to rest in games combined with the fact that he had to keep the entire offense running made him exhausted so he didnt go as hard on D to preserve what little energy he had. I have no doubt that now, with the solid team they appear to have, the load will be reduced enough to where he can improve drastically on defense.

@@fortynights1513 On 2 levels. 1. team construction. Lots of redundancy in some areas weak in others. They just do not have the right mix of greatness. Your top 3 players should have very different skill sets and jobs. 2. I am sick of hearing how the Suns are going to win. How many times have the Suns been the favorite to win it all? How many times have they done it? How many times have the suns been the favorite to win the west? How many times have they done it? Who had the best record in the West last year? It does not matter the Suns were the favorite to win the west, right up until they lost. The Suns are perpetually expected to do better than they do.

My take away for the rockets is FVV and Brooks were great pick ups. What I noticed in the game was how different the team was with those two on the floor. If they can teach this quite gifted young core some work ethic, offensive consistency and defensive focus that’s worth more than just winning some games with the same negatives they’ve had before this year. Bad signings for any other team but great for the Rockets.

I feel like Dillon Brooks is just not someone you want a younger core to be influenced by, he plays dirty on defense and is generally just an insufferably annoying person, also his shot selection is probably even worse than Jordan Poole’s was with the Warriors.

Shame on you Rusty, there was lots to take away on the Raptors, allow me: - Scottie looked great, despite a very inefficient shooting night and missing 10 ft, still got 17, 7, & 5 (I think), plus 5 blocks and 2 steals, had a very impactful game overall. - Schroder looks great as a Raptor, keeping the ball moving, being a pest on the perimeter defensively, shot well this game (probably an outlier), and playing with pace (something Vanvleet could no longer do). - OG absolutely locked up ANT after the first quarter, definitely should be in the convo for DPOY this year. - Siakam had a subpar game, but got some clutch buckets when they mattered most in the 4th. - Malachi needs to be moved, the guy has no hope on this team.

I gotta be honest, I saw a brief bit of the Lakers and Suns game from a distance and I thought that was going to be what you would talk about, didn’t realize that was not the first game for them. I saw the end and KD didn’t look that good, and I was surprised that he scored as much as he did in that one.

The Lakers clamped down *hard* on the Suns in the 4th. The Suns as a team had 9 turnovers in just the 4th quarter, and the Suns kept having to use timeouts because they couldn’t stop the Lakers. Which screwed them over, as they had to keep giving the Lakers foul shots to regain possession at the end of the game.

My overreaction is that as a okc fan okc has to trade josh Giddey in the off-season he still a limited offensive player that does not fit with shai and becomes a liability because when he can’t score he useless cannot create separation at all which leads to him taking contested layups or a catch shoot which he not good at, can’t lead an offense especially when shai off the court we need another shot creator because as good as jdub is he not ready to be a second option,we already in the 2nd game of the season and he still getting benched because of his flaws

The key difference being Pascal has already won a chip, been the 2nd option on a championship team. Fr bro I’m a Cavs fan and every time I look at the team comparisons after the game we’re always out-rebounded, and it’s ridiculous when you consider the fact that we’re one of the only teams that still starts 2 7 footers the majority of the time. It could come down to the fact that we have weaker wings and small guards? Maybe we’re just getting out-rebounded by the guards and wings? I really don’t know.

@@ryantristani5091 what it actually is, is that Mobley and Allen spend so much of their time contesting shots and playing defense on opposing players, they never really go for any rebounds. Allen could easily have 14 rebounds a game, but instead he only has about 10 because he spends so much of his time facing away from the basket. Mobley,as the roaming help defender, is even more guilty of that, though it’s understandable in his case. It’s great for our team’s defense, but it absolutely fucked us over when we keep giving up second chance points, and can never get continuous offense because our offensive rebounding also sucks. Some other centers are also guilty of it, Kristaps Porziņģis for example has the same problem. But it’s rare to have both front court players be bad in that regard. Especially with lackluster backups. Losing Kevin Love, and his injuries last season really exacerbated that problem. It’s why I was so pissed when we went into the season with Damian effin’ Jones as our primary back up in the frontcourt. We need an Andre Drummond-type, or for Isaiah Mobley to step up into that spot.

@@ollytropics1735 Maybe but they both put up decent rebounding numbers so I feel like it might be the fact that we generally have undersized guards and wings. Because JA and Mobley both can grab 9 to 11 rebounds a night. I just went and looked on NBA for the top rebounding guards per 100 possessions (to adjust for pace) and neither Garland or Mitchell are even in the top 50 among guards, that's horrendous. They're both outside the top 50 in just offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds individually as well. I took it a step further to be only guarfs in the east and both are STILL outside the top 50.
