For my interests, best video of a relaxed Rob that agrees with what I have experienced also. Some points I am learning too ... In conversation the thai will be extremely polite and yes, you have to pay attention if they are interested or just being polite on continuing the conversation. I like to pick subject, I was drawing a new house having a coffee and showed the lady, she was extremely interested, wonderful feedback as she designed her house, yet I had to be sensitive when she had enough conversation. In relationship moments of mix up, thai will prioritize your happiness over theirs, bit of a Buddhist heritage or maybe foreigner treatment? I know if I am not smiling, it is immediate to be told do what makes me happy and she will support it. Meeting, I have met thai with little or no family, and because where I adventure probably a 1% chance she will meet a foreign man? The few I met prefer foreign man, however that is the minority as you point out. Children, my past was two children, son who was easy going, daughter who was very touchy that now she is 40 changed totally and we arr all now all close. Point is, children you never know just set a good example for them to see. You see everyone saying such a large variety of single or family just what makes you personally happy and squash bullshit and negative if that makes sense. Personally at older age I do not want the structure of even a dog and enjoy our freedom with or without a partner however I prefer a partner to share life with. Just my ramblings 😊 . Going Hua Hin area for the weekend, still learning area I want to live in Thailand as all areas have their appeal in this beautiful kingdom. Take care 🙏

One odd behaviour ( amongst many) that particularly stood out for me was we went to a wedding reception for the son of the ex principal at my wifes school. It was either terminal or the mall can't remember which one, they had some kind of like conference rooms on one of the floors, anyway there was the usual several thousand pictures ( that annoys me no end) and we sit down for the meal and about 2/3 of the people there eat the food then just get up and leave just as the speeches are starting. The wife and her friends were about to do the same until i said no this is incredibly rude and not polite, so she explained what i had said and they all begrudgingly sat down for a further 30 min until at least the speeches finished.

And I hope the next phases of medical treatment will give your back ongoing healing. I wanted to ask about the reasoning behind Fawn potentially "losing face" if you rent a condo. Is it because you're living together now and moving out could look unfavorable? I've lived in Thailand since 2018 and have been with my Thai partner for four years. I've heard a lot about "losing face," but this is a new one for me. Could you give some context or explain the meaning? I've lived overseas since 1999 & many countries/cultures have "Loosing Face" for various reasons. Thanks.

Your first guess is correct. If I loved I to a condo it’d be seen as me “ moving out” on Fawn. Not that it would stop me if I thought that was in my best interests. But I honestly have never been able to find any kind of Condo that suits my needs. Surprisingly, I need a little bit of land to stretch move around, do a little exercise and I like private parking. The condos all have basically public parking which I do not like.

Have your wife spend the money toward a house as it will be her house and eventually her two boys house. Go buy or rent yourself a condo in Korat which will always be yours. Do not be stupid and build a house for her as that will be money spent that will you will never get back. She could kick you out of that house for any reason. If you do the math, that 800,000 baht rotting in a local bank should be placed in an investment account in the USA, The interest alone will pay yearly visa fees if you hire an agent. You will still have money left over, i.e., $24,000 x 4% = $960. $960- $740 (visa fees) = $220

Hey Rob, so for most of October, I was bouncing around the Philippines doing a survey trip. and my conclusion is that I would only be comfortable living in the tourist islands of the Philippines. And what’s interesting is that I went to Valencia, which is a very popular Place within the Philippine domestic and Expat vlogger community. and while it is a really nice climate/environment. I didn’t see many ex-pats while motorbiking around. Which got me to trying to imagine myself, as a future resident, going for a jog around the neighborhood, , I got the impression I would feel like a Martian doing so. . So what’s your view on that? How much( as an example ) if you were to go for a jog in your Thai neighborhood, would you feel like a Martian? I could see myself going for a jog on Ko Samui , and feeling OK.. I think “a jog” for me is a good litmus test for whether I would be comfortable in a foreign community. if I could go for a jog and not feel like people are looking at me like WTF are you doing / and why are you even here? Thoughts. Btw, I hope your surgery/ recovery are Going well.
@resetwithrobb2 ай бұрын
We must be on the same wavelength, I went for my third jog this morning and I’m feeling no pain. Very happy about that and thank you for asking. As far as feeling like a Martian, that does not bother me one bit. I still get the “stare of disbelief” as a walk or ride my motorcycle somewhere or people go by the front of my house as I sit on my porch. I don’t need a lot of conversation to be happy. I find it kind of a drag if people want to engage with me too much to be honest so this works for me. But, if you need more friends and conversation and people around you speaking your language then you need to stick to the tourist areas for sure. I would look at the islands of Koh Sammet , Koh Samoi, and Koh Chang, or go north to Chiang Mai. I hate to sound self promoting, but my new book covers this quite well, all the money goes to my son with autism anyways. You might want to check that out.

If you have the money and you like the town of Korat rent yourself a one or two bedroom condo as you may find you like better than building a house on your wife property. You could plant fruit trees and have a vegetable garden on your wife property to earn some money at the Thai market before building a house. It gives you time to see how your relationship goes with your wife and gives you the freedom to be away from your wife to see if a Thai marriage is really for you. Remember, building a small house will lock you in on living there. You will need City Water or a well installed with electric motor which I do not recommend as a deep well is not good water and your electrical costs will go up. Oh yeah, air conditioning, repairs and etc. give yourself another 5 years before building a house.

I found a lady without kids and I married her when I was 21. I'm 48 now and she's 53. We made our own kids. I would never get a woman with kids unless they are grown up. I also don't line the dark ch in chicks. Lol

Robb, what is your height, weight, chest and waist size? I suspect we're similar since I'm also a gym rat, but I'd love to know. I also have back problems, by the way, but luckily not as serious. Still, have to be careful. I think it's hard to avoid at a certain age and after many years in the gym.
@@resetwithrobb With a 44 chest, you're probably right where you should be, is my guess.

@@resetwithrobb One last question, where did you get your dragon ring? I went all over Yaowarat last time I was in BKK looking for a good one, but none caught my eye.

Why does Fon lose face if you rent a condo? Most Thais won't live in those single room rows either (I see that in the videos where you're standing I think you're staying in there). Usually only very young people and low wage workers live like that. I think she'd understand completely.

It’s important to her to live in her village. She would lose face if I left her village.

Personally my thought is they can have generations in that village and I believe they are happier there. Typical is they will move for you ... I am talking Isan women

Hey,rob why cant you touch your visa money?
@resetwithrobbАй бұрын
It’s one of if not the most popular methods of funding your visa here in Thailand. And that is to keep ฿800,000 in your Thai bank account and keep the balance above that limit for a roughly 6 months out of each calendar year, etc., or each renewal date I’m sorry. But you get the idea. Way, but that’s how I started

Classic Flashback U-tube channel. About famous 'older' rich musos with their beautiful much, much younger wives. Funny how it's ok for the rich...!

Thai people will not invite you to anything unless your wife is invited. They do not speak English and your Thai is limited. Better for you to find some Americans to talk with.

Reminds me of my ex who is Chinese, and good lord! it was horrible whenever she'd be at an outing or even if a few came to the house. All from Hong Kong so their English was spectacular but it went Cantonese hard and I could stand about 15 minutes of it 😂

Will you marry fawn?
@resetwithrobb2 ай бұрын
Yes. Down the road. Fiancé is a good fit for now.
@JamesClampitt-ju5jd2 ай бұрын
If you marry her legally you will be responsible for her and if you decide to divorce the Thai courts will give everything to her. You are not having children with her so why marry legally. As of today, you could break up with her and find a new woman without any problems from her. Those two boys will never leave the village unless you are willing to send them away to college. Get ready for the up coming headaches with them as they get older. Your wife cannot say NO to her boys but you can. That is where you will have future arguments and problems with your wife. Go get yourself a condo in Korat and do not build that house. My opinion only Rob.
