Now in traveling for my 159 days and talking I have met only one bad story, one where he is sick in Sweden and she chose Thailand over him, and about a dozen very happy stories. Two with Canada that are long term with older children and living a happy life. In Thailand I did not go to places such as Pattaya, Jontien, Hua Hin, etc and traveled rural and off the tourist path, and I am a quiet sort, so no bar stories, etc My TF connection has proven loyal and true and I see her very respectful towards my being happy. There are a lot of different stories I see on these channels. A lot that are from rather hardened men in their thoughts towards thai women, usually based on experiences with younger women.

ThaiFriendly is not all bad. Obviously, it's better to be there and meet someone in person. But if you're planning a trip from abroad and want to have a date when you get there, it's a viable option. I started 3 months before my trip and narrowed it down to one person. We had a great time and I've been back 3 more times this year to see her. It takes a while to figure out who's who on the site. There are a ton of clunkers with some good ones sprinkled in. Use common sense, avoid the bar girls, freelancers, women who get too affectionate too quickly, ask for money, etc. There are women in their early 30s with a kid (probably being raised by Grandma in the village), darker skinned, who aren't competitive with Thai men. But they can be good for you, especially if you're older. I wouldn't hesitate to try TF in advance of a visit. Just don't rush into anything.

You get english, traditional Christian values, and a willingness to adapt to your culture. Ive had friends get lucky with vietnamese women too. Loasian women i heard are loyal too. Think outside the thai box when it comes to love.

This only applies to older guys 45-55+. Does not apply to younger guys. Here’s what I would do if I were 55+ in Thailand. Hire a live-in maid. Interview 20+. Pick the one that seemed the most interested in me (eye contact, body language, friendly, etc) + single and no kids. Hire her for 15-20k a month. For the first 3-6 months it’s straight business and vetting her, and especially to establish the foundation of the relationship as provider / caretaker. Once that was established and she passed the tests, turn it into a relationship with the same founding principles that the business transaction was initially agreed upon. This is the safest and best bet for guys… if they are smart enough to do it correctly

I’m 68 years old American retired. I lived in Bangkok for three years up until about a year ago. I moved back to the states for now. This video is spot on. Before moving to Thailand I visited Bangkok staying for three months. I dated a Thai woman that was 46 years old at the time . She was divorced. Worked as an accountant. Had a new car. Very attractive. Always dressed nice. She would only see me once a week. And if I asked for more she would get nasty. I eventually ended it. Because of her once a week thing and her temper. Others I met were either looking for a walking bank. Or I just weren’t interested. And five of them drank heavily to the point I thought they were alcoholics. I’m talking about sloppily drunk on the first date. The last woman I dated was during my last two years. She was nice to a point. But again with the childish temperament. And the last year her throwing fits for the most ridiculous things. Especially if I didn’t like something she did. I never dated or met anyone younger than 40. I met a lot but mostly as I said one time thing. Because I could tell their motives. I also didn’t hang out in bars and rarely drank alcohol.

Keep in mind that there are more women in Thailand than men. Most Thai women do not like Thai men because the men ussually have more than one girlfriend. If u see a Thai woman with a business, the business was probably paid for by a man. Thai women also have a thing called a secret boyfriend. It is not uncommon​ for an older man to marry a younger​Thai woman. The busimess or house are normally put in the womans name. If a Thai woman likes u, they are usually upfront and ask if u have a girlfriend or if u are married. Visit many places and u will see what I mean. Stay away from those secret places that most farangs do not know of and u will be okay.

Thai-American here! If you plan to date a Thai woman, especially one who comes from a poor background, there are dating nuances that you must be aware of. Even if your Thai girl is not a bar girl, more than likely she's from a rural village far far away in Isaan, southern or northern Thailand. She's living in Bangkok and working at a low-paying job to send money back to her parents and maybe, to her child. If you don't already know, Thai society is a communal society where the community/village takes care of each other. If there is a problem, the community steps in to solve it. On the other hand, most Western societies are individualistic where each person solves his/her own problems. When you enter into a relationship with a Thai woman, her issues become your issues, including money issues! When she is having money issues, she won't ask you for money but expects you to step in to help solve it. As a Westerner, your attitude is, it's my girlfriend's money issue, I am not getting involved. Her thinking is, you're sleeping with me so you must give something back in return. Trust me, if you choose to ignore her money woes, it will change the tone of your relationship! Your inaction will result in resentment and anger! Her friends will try to convince her to break up with you to find a more generous foreigner. There is no right or wrong here, it's the reality of dating in Thailand as a foreigner! If you can help your Thai lady financially, that's great, but be warned that if you guys break up, you don't get any money back!

Some of Middle class ladies still want money from foreigner, but many ladies in this group do not aim at money because they want the true love. It depends on what you're looking for in Thailand; if you're a younger guy like myself and know the score before coming to Thailand and you just casually date, hook up, go to the beaches etc. and see it for WHAT it is and NOT more than that (managing your expectations), it is the best in the world; are you trying to find eternal love (though it probably will exist in 1% of cases, admittedly) then you are better to look elsewhere; it's like Disneyland: everybody wants to go there for a trip but nobody wants to spend there for the rest of their lives riding "The Space Mountain" for eternity....play your cards correctly.

You sound balanced and perhaps a lot is similar to me. For myself, I was in provider mode for so much of my life that the new concept of "what do I want" was the biggest hurdle to my retirement happiness. Meeting good "true" friends and a partner is as much serendipity and chance anywhere in the world. I watched some videos on scams, untrue women, heartaches in Thailand however to be honest as a retired engineer and business man who studied social and psychology as a hobby the videos fir me were more of a scare than a necessity. You have to decide that part for yourself of course. Lots of very happy relationship stories here in Thailand and thet can start in any place. Just be true and honest, watch for the so called "red flags" listen to your instincts .... and the strongest i believe is know what you want and what you are willing to give. If you are attracted to Asian physique ladies a bonus. I am confident you will meet good women, patience. Decide beforehand if you will accept children or poor family as there are also a lot of women here that are self sustaining and will ask you for nothing financially if that becomes a measurable for you. Good morning, Robb! I had food poisoning once while in Brazil and I know exactly where I got it...Limeade at a beach restaurant. It took about three hours, and my body wanted, whatever it was, out as fast as possible. Led to some embarrassing moments since I wasn't close to home. It was fast and furious. Didn't last long, thankfully. Do you know what you ate and where? Maybe you already told us in a video I missed. I am thinking I should talk to a psychiatrist rather than post anything in here about my relationship. I am in the process of trying to end it...again...after three months of getting along for a week or so followed by some pretty bad arguments. I am never sure if it is my fault or hers. Some people can step outside the cultural aspect of living, dating, and marrying someone from another country. Love is love, respect is respect, let's start there. Why would an American man want to date trying to represent himself as a Thai man. The American man brings so much to the table, let her appreciate and respect that as he appreciates and respects her. Finding a man who is more reasonably matched in maturity and age is an ok thing as long as they are well matched and willing to build together in every aspect of life as a couple. She dates Thai men, but will not date Western men unless they can provide a financial agreement...............WFH. That is so bizarre. Are Western men losing themselves in every manner of being a man just to be with a Thai woman. Never a red flag when taking the time to get to know a man on line.................sophisticatred conversation, healthy flirting, and just overall getting to know him through his words, and how he presents in writing and conversation.............that's ok and I don't understand why it is considered a red flag. Don't have to sleep with him when you meet, but he will know by her actions that the wait will be worth it. Texting is important and gives the couple that continued contact and connection to flirt and keep him on his toes and definitely interested. Hi Rob Interesting video and comments. I met a very nice, honest older Thai lady(60s) from Chiang mai on Thai cupid site. I'm retired (70s) with good pension and savings and realized she would need financial assist when I met her so I accepted that reality and was willing to help her out. I didn't go into the relationship with blinkers on and don't feel taken advantage of but then not every one is as fortunate as I am. Find someone close to your age and realize you will be required to help out financially and you won't be disappointed. Common sense should prevail or suffer the consequences.

I'm in Chiang Mai too and I see many couples here like you and all seem to be happy . I think it's partly to do with the city . My first visit to Chiang Mai was in 1980 and it changed a lot since but I still think it's the best place to live in Thailand. About 20 years ago I had an article published in City Life entitled my Shangri-La. The place is very spiritual and full of Lanna culture,Buddhism and Arts and Crafts. There is some nightlife but it's not in your face and bargirls are virtually zero . The expat community is very different from other Thai cities . I'm not surprised you could find a woman of 60s suitable for a partner . I know several ladies here available in their late 50s who would make ideal partners . Woman of that age are generally very kind and caring. I think a guy in his 70s shouldn't look for a young hottie, it might kill him 😉😜

I feel out of my element when i leave the city, not to say that there are not other wonderful places to live in thailand its just where i found a suitable partner. If it's a scam, it's self explanatory ,not a date . As Robb suggests trying to make contact with Thai women in a cafe who smiles at you .. to me that's a red flag, she is soliciting. Or just smiles as it's normal in Thailand. Maybe striking up a conversation in a shop or say in a hospital or some other public service place is better..but ,say Thai Friendly is more purposeful . They're on there for a reason,you just got to do some investigation, interview, resume... There is a process,they do their due diligence too, partly to see that you're not a no hoper beggar. I don't blame them . Why would they want to hook up with that? I guess if you want to go on a date you could do it with an escort. They're trained to do western style dates.

Robb I just found your channel and your info fits more than some of the other younger guy warning channels. I myself retired here from the US at only 50 and only arrived 2 months ago. (this is my 2nd time here) I have been dating an Isan girl (message lady) who is my age @ 49 with okay English. From the sound of it you are advocating not to get involved with anyone. In my experience a Thai person working at the bank or with some standard administrative job, etc. - might only be making $500 per month (max = $1,000 for a VERY good job ). ( so Yes - a retired falang is tremendously more wealthy ) Not to mention the fact that 50% of the jobs here in Thailand used to have something to do with the Tourist Industry and 90% of those disappeared during COVID ( and the tourism industry has still not recovered ). In my experience...it's not uncommon for a retired foreigner to have a "disposable income" that's 5 X (or even 10 X) what the Thais around him are making.

I appreciate the thought. Not sure I care about my analytics too much. This really isn’t a money making venture. My average view duration is 8-9 minutes. No idea if that’s good or not. I generally start out with a general update on things or whatever it is I might be thinking and I try to blend that organically into the specific content. I would likely be unable to articulate as to why I do it this way, but this I what I like to do. It’s a nice hobby. Specific content is available in my book if someone “wants it all and wants it now”. All the money goes to my son. That probably sounds weird but that the truth of it.
