@@OverTheHillAdventures You are so right about not being guaranteed tomorrow. Twelve years ago we lost 2 grandsons (brothers, 12 & 9 years old) in an auto accident and we know that without the Lord we (and our daughter & extended family) would have been hard pressed to make it through those tough days. All the more reason to acknowledge beauty when we see and hear it and your song was beautiful! I understood why Stan would shed a tear or two! The Palmer Gulch KOA is fantastic. We stayed there on our way out to Yellowstone. Our visit was in mid-June a few years ago and it was packed. Prices during the peak of the season approach what you pay for Fort Wilderness at Disney, but as you said it was absolutely fantastic. The area deserved a much longer stay, but reservations and the price made it impossible. Little did we know at the time that just across the road was a National Forest campground (WIllow Creek Camp), with a second campground just 2.5 miles to the east and closer to Mt. Rushmore (Horsethief Lake Camp). We'll be back to the area after retirement next year to do all the things we missed. Keep up the good work.

I agree that this is one fantastic destination. My then-girlfriend (now wife of 34 years) stumbled across this park in 1989 while camping in a popup trailer. The place was beautiful, and the staff was very accommodating. In the years that have passed, we've returned to this place many times, bringing family and friends with us, usually for the 4th of July week, and made some beautiful memories. In those days, there was an exciting fireworks display over Mt Rushmore on the July 4th evening. Nothing feels more patriotic than that experience. :) I hope you enjoyed your stay. My wife and I need another trip back up there. Thanks for sharing. :)
