Had jumpers knee issues for years. Found a KZbin that showed an external rotation leg lift ...that did the trick. Sit on the floor, turn your foot outward, lift your leg up. Do sets of 15. Please do a video on this exercise! It works!

I've been trying different gym in our place but sadly no one can give me a sound advice about increasing my vertical jump so here I am doing my own research looking for a true enough program that can help me achieve a dunk. Now I've been doing 5 reps 5 sets of Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift with heavy enough weight like strength training but I lack explosiveness.

Good sir, why are my abductors so damn sore after ball? And my plantar fascitis is killing me .. My right hip and glute are often sore too. I can have a workout that gets rid of the pain but after a night's rest it all comes back and I feel like I'm alway having to work through these symptoms. It's been a few years since I've been active on the courts or in the gym due to my workload and I've also bulked up from around 160lb to around 175lb. Do you think it could just be that I have to get use to my extra weight with all the explosive movement basketball delivers?

Are you a physiotherapist in the first place to perform exercise for his jumpers knee?i think you have to idea what you are doing on the first half of the video.
@branw47596 жыл бұрын
@stye nyx The first half of the video is pretty common for jumpers knee, although not every person with jumpers knee would necssary benefit from it since the cause of jumpers knee can vary. But the exercises he is given are common treatment exercises, except terminal knee extension. Im in physiotherapy school thats how i know
@blairhargrove21846 жыл бұрын
Why do you perform resistance training after sport specific work, from my understanding that mean you would be getting the most out of the athlete with the sport specific work... let me know you’re thinking I’m actually curious about this. Thank you and thanks for the helpful videos!

I want to increase my vert but I also want leaner/thinner calves. I have heard some people say try long distance running to try to thin the calves but others say that just slows your progression on your vert. Others say vert training is a way to thin your calves but I'm short and I don't want over bulky calves and that's all I see in guys with my height who can jump high. Now I'm so confused now; should I try the running or just work on my vert? Any suggestions, please???
@jswish7776 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about thick or thin calves - just know what to focus your training on. If you're already pretty strong (squat over 1.5x your bodyweight) then focus on plyometrics and power exercises. If you're a quick-footed player who needs to get stronger, do strength exercises. Check your results after 2-3 months and go from there.

Don't foam roll the IT band it does nothing, foam roam the outer quads/hamstrings and the TFL in the hip instead
@sb-lq3hz6 жыл бұрын
stretching the IT band does nothing as well...you can't stretch it. but to his credit he did not say foam roll the IT band, I was waiting for it lol...i think he wanted the rolling on the outer quad.
@branw47596 жыл бұрын
@Toby check completely false. stretching the ITB is questionable and not as recomended, but foam rolling the iliotibial band is beneficial. Although you would need to target TFL, and more importantly work on making sure the pelvis is neutral, since an anteriorly rotated pelvis is one of the main causes of a tight ITB. I am in physiotherapy school, so im not making this up. BTW, generally speaking if a person does have jumpers knee you likely would not want to stretch both the hamstring and quads. i can go into more detail as to why if your curious. hope this helps
