this is a perspective ive never thought of, modern designed game characters being designed to be eye candies purely to sell more skins. at some level i already knew what you were talking about, but i never realised to what extent this was being done. characters like psylocke and luna snow are pretty to look at and fun to play, but theyre just that. pretty. in essence they are pretty shallow characters, psylocke is just a girl japanese ninja and luna snow is just a k pop star. that might not be the case in the comics, they might actually have interesting character designs, but that def is not the case in the game. They dont really have any artistic directions other than just being nice to look at. when i think of good design i think of tf2 and all of its classes. characters like pyro and engineer werent very pretty to look at, in fact theyre kind of ugly if you look closer. but theyre way more compelling as characters because they have more interesting personalities and the design of the characters are just way better.

I tried Overwatch for a couple days because I wanted to play it with friends, didn't understand it, and then gave up. I tired Marvel Rivals because I wanted to play with friends, didn't understand it, I started to watching guides, practicing a lot, and now I'm doing ranked matches moderately well. Apparently, all you have to do to get me to play something I think I'd hate is add characters I like in it and have engaging gameplay.
