Another underrated aspect of Harbleu in general is how good he is at shot calling and communication. Very rarely if ever toxic, and his shot calling literally wins fights. If you ever do a guide on this, include harb!

IMPORTANT!: You don't do the melee attack after the hook shot combo for most tanks at full health, since after the melee you're not able to instantly shoot again. You have to wait for a certain time period, which is actually quite long and you can't do anything with your weapon meanwhile. When you fight a winston for example, it's much safer to just use two left clicks one after another which is faster as waiting for the second left click after the melee.

I just last hit with hook Ps if you do melee and not hook, enemy gets confused and uses dash, then you can just hook him easily.

A small chance that could help is to guarantee 1 ammo whenever you hook somebody, so you have no ammo left but you hook the ana so you are 1/5 on ammo

What you also forgot to mention in regard to Lucio is, that the speed aura can make it much easier to pull of one shot combos or simply improve the damage output, since when you hook you already move towards the target to close in the distance to increase your damage. If you have more speed, you get closer to the target and therefore do more damage as well. Lucio is an insanely good aspect to hogs game.

Oh, also, good tip that you can start using for road. When you reload, you can cancel the ending animation of it and use take a breather to save some time. Like, reload, road spams in the scrap and immediately after that press e, it cancels the animation but you still get the reload off as long as you wait for hog to stuff the scrap in. :)

Unless youre sure youre gonna secure the kill on a hooked tank, or you hooked a dva with matrix or a zarya with bubble, dont melee after your shot. Keep firing. you get a lot more dps by just spamming left clicks, except in the case where you hooked dva or zarya, in which theyll probably use their defensives right away, only giving you enough time for a shot+melee

Genghis Khan exactly. The delay after the melee until the next shot is WAY too much to always use. A good method is, for most squishiest, melee. Most other tanks, just keep firing, and always make sure you have a full mag. One right click, hook, then proceed to carve you buckshot into their asses

As a guy who streams and mains Hog in GM on PS4 this is a very helpful video for those learning hog. Another helpful tip not said in this video is crosshair placement you want to make sure you aim at the neck on characters with smaller hit box’s like Mercy and widow and Tracer after you hook them. It’s pretty hard at first but keep working at it ^_^

Also worth noting when using roadhogs ultimate that using it on fixed targets (such as a halted orissa, a charging rein, a bastion, or a re-meking Di.Va is extremely valuable too, as then every single pellet of that whole hog is going to be hitting them. For reference, whole hog, by default, will spit out 5,000 damage with no dropoff.

Something I thought I'd add is once you hook a target(depending on your current positioning) don't stand still. You should walk forward as they're being hooked, to minimize the distance between you and the target as they're being set in front of you. This sounds small, but greatly increases the amount of damage output by the combo. It could really make the difference between a one shot combo and a target that barely gets away.

Personally on tanks and basically anything over 250 hp, i wouldn't bother with the melee after each hook. 9/10 times it won't kill anymore and it's slower to get off a second shot afterwards to actually finish w/e it is you're hooking. So right click, hook left, left. That at least gives you a chance to finish off say a winston before he leaps away, where as if you melee chances are he's gonna have enough hp to leap away and get healed. That is just my personal opinion, i'm no god at hog, just a masters level.

It's kinda hard to teach that. That's mostly learned through experience. A bad tank plays like they have ult. A good tank plays like they never have ult. Low SR tanks tend to do a little dance and telegram everything it's cute.

@@FeedMeSalt you can still track ults not based off how the enemy is acting, if you wanted to track grav first youd track the zarya and if she been at high energy then youd track to see if she has done a lot of dmg or killed a lot while at high energy and then its safe to assume she probably has grav or will soon or vice versa if at low energy and you can almost totally ignore how aggressive or passive she being looking for that huge grav and pressure her before she has the chance to "set up" for grav or even get it at all, yea how the enemy is acting is a good way to tell if they about to use ult but so much more tracking is needed before the enemy gets to the point of using ults

Another tip I got from watching a recent video of Harb’s is that you should try to walk towards your target after hooking them so that more pellets hit your target!

For the Hook Combo it's easier to land your shots if you move forward a bit after you hook someone.

One thing you forgot to mention was that with the shoot hook shoot combo, some newer hog players don’t realise that you need to shook hook wall forward (close the gap between you and your enemy for maximum damage output) then shoot and melee/shoot again, players who aren’t doing this will find their value as a hog will be a lot less than hog players who are doing this

Lucio can also effect Pig Man's hooks. Maybe it's not as effective as I think, but if you hook someone, you usually walk forward a bit in hope of doing more damage. Obviously Lucio is good for this because Hog can get closer faster.

Actual % doesn't matter too much. Focus more on hitting impact hits rather than obsessing over misses. You just don't want too much downtime with consecutive misses, then you're just playing a weaker Dva with no dm.

Another pro tip: don't be afraid to use your ult frequently as it charges up very quickly. If you hook the enemy main tank, shoot him once and then ult immediately. It's funny how disoriented a team is when their main tank dies first.

I used to main hog back when he had his interdimentional hook (season 2-5), those where the days. I wasn't terrible with his hooks (60-85% Hook Accuracy per game). My best game was 87% HA with 34 hooks hit and 79% of the match on fire. For the most part Hog has always been good in 50% of situations and depending on the map.

Hey Eddie, sorry but there is one mistake in this guide: always use quick melee after hook-shot but only on squishy! On tanks you have to follow the shot with another shot cause, yes you will do 30 guarantee dmg to it but you will not kill it and you delay your follow up shot that can easily kill it (if you don't want to take my word for it, just look at Hareblue playing even in this video). So a rule that you have to put in your mind is: squishy=quick melee, tanks=follow up shot.

Important tip/warning for Hog and Orisa players. If you are playing Orisa and a hog comes at you, be aware if he has Whole Hog or not. If you Fortify either before or during a Whole Hog, you just get to stand there and take all of the damage! You will die. If you dont Fortify then he will just push you away and you can survive that. If you are hog against the Orisa, you can bait out the Fortify and then Whole Hog. You will have enough to last eating through a shield and the Fortify in most cases. If the Orisa is being pocketed by a Mercy or Ana, it's really tough to confirm the kill through a fortify and being healed. You will probably lose that scenario. Manage cool downs and a Hog can bust an Orisa bunker almost all by himself.

Try roadhog melee before you hook, if he sees you they wait when hook is coming but when you do melee they think you just used hook and they use panic dash, then hook and laugh while you kill them easily. Ive tricked genjis so many times.

I'm not gonna lie. Roadhog and Winston we're always my favorite tanks to play before Wrecking Ball came out. But like many plebs I stopped playing him ages ago when they first nerfed him and gave Dva her micros. So I'm gonna be really happy about picking him and not feel like I'm throwing in my games.

I think you should also mention who Hog is good and bad against. GOOD AGAINST: Basically any tank, (less so against Zarya and dva cuz of bubbles and matrix), Bastion, Dumbfist. BAD AGAINST: Mei, Sombra, Ana, ranged damage (Hanzo, Widow, Ashe) maybe brig? idk, she's getting a huge nerf I know I left out reaper, thats cuz you can still kill him if you have hook/ult available

One thing you didn't mention is that shoot hook shoot mele isn't always the best. On heroes like reaper or mei (that have already used wrath or ice block) it is better to shoot hook shoot shoot.

Honestly, if they just completely removed his ultimate recoil, I’d be very happy with that. It’s not hard to control at all, but when you push a squishy so far away so fast, just makes it harder for kill confirms. I’d rather not worry about dragging my mouse that little bit, just annoying/frustrating sometimes
