Overwatch League Shop & Tokens are Going Away

Blizzard has announced that it will be officially closing the Overwatch League shop and retiring the corresponding OWL Token currency. As part of its going away, there will be an OWL inventory sale where past OWL skins will be available once again!

I went to 7 overwatch league games at the Santa Monica studio they were all so so fun, it’s just so sad I spent so much money on jerseys and merch, the league and balance was not handled well; but I can’t lie I miss supporting a certain team. Some very good memories. With esports becoming a casualty since Covid, it’s really sad that it’s sadly going a away slowly, I don’t feel like it’s talked about much, but esports as a whole has completely dropped off a cliff outside of Riot games

Just checked, they did something really strange, they featured half of the individuals skins and the bumdles on top and below you find the usual recolors BUT Scroll ALL the way down and you'll find the rest of the individual legendary skins like Doomfist and Sombra, everything except for Widowmaker, Ana and Alien Zarya, the later makes sense but no Ana or WM? odd, good thing I got it last year. Edit: I just checked, there are 6 skins missing, Ana, Bridgitte, Bastion, Widowmaker, Mei and Zarya

I have so many OWL Tokens and all the special league skins. Never saw much reason to spend them on the normal recolors and still don't so I really hope these aren't converted into Legacy coins which is even more worthless. And this means we aren't getting anymore cool Unique League skins over all this is terrible news. All they had to do was rename the Tokens into Champions and make Champion skins smh.

It’s basically nothing but cosmetics now with a mini game attached to it and then you have plenty of gullible people who eat up the overpriced cosmetics. Yeah it’s a working model for people who are fine with mediocrity or less. Numbers don’t impress me, they could be lying about those numbers anyway like Bungie has done. That could be millions of accounts with almost no playtime at all but Blizzard still took them into account. That could also be a combination of multiple accounts from one person, a lot of people in the community love to do that and that’s definitely going to rack up like crazy.

Imo that s the good move for new players but as a veteran of this game i am pissed off that i cant have anything rare or special. Any mythic can be purchase now battle pass skins with lower rarity are actually rarer than mythics. Pink mercy came back aswell, and now they are giving a chance to buy owl ov 1 skins ( there was an option to purchase them in ov2, but not everyone knew that) Maybe next move will be adding to shop illidan genji skin?

They need to nerf how good Armor is against all the faster/pellet shooting guns, and buff Armor so it's not laughably weak against burst damage. The 50% damage reduction cap of Armor is simply too high when you factor in how much Supports can heal and that Tanks only get -10% healing from the DPS Passive instead of the usual -20%. When the enemy Supports are pumping healing into their Tank to keep their Armor topped off, if your team doesn't have some kind of chunky burst damage to chunk down the Armor, nothing will ever happen, the game comes to a halt. The current state of Armor is causing more 1-sided matches.
