that is not how i see it but i can respect the opinion. i see moira as the perfect pocket for a tank. you are the pocket of your tank (provided they aren’t dive, then another hero would be better most likely)if i feel like playing nothing but moira (qp demon btw(maybe my opinions don’t matter despite being gold 4 as moira on my first ranking ever)) i will be on my tanks ass with all the heals imaginable and they will not die. if they are fully roped off i’ll take a second or two to dps what i can reach from behind my tank or i will heal the back line a bit. maybe that’s just how i play it but it works for me. 🙃

I really like going to flank as Moira then using my fade to reposition behind the tank, pocket him until I need to go Succ, and then get right back to being a backline murder demon. Her ability to react to whatever the party needs and counter most annoying characters are great.

As a Masters Moira main, I appreciate Emongg's takes on Moira. It always feels like he's very fair and providing an unbiased opinion, whereas most people are just like "Oh Moira? Booo!" As Moira mains, we GET that there isn't a lot of utility, and so we try our best to work around it because, like Emongg said, she's fun! And we want to climb in rank, but we also like to have that fun he's talking about.

Stop acting like just because she has a low floor and ceiling that she doesn't take skill. Playing her well requires good reactions and especially good judgement. You can't break her outta low elo if you don't have good judgement, and like it or not, proper orb placement/use actually does require at least a modicum of skill. Hate her if you like, but at least acknowledge that taking her to higher elo DOES actually require some degree of skill, even if it's not the traditional technical skills.

Lifeweaver's life grip is both great and terrible. I play a lot of healer in final fantasy 14, so I'm really used to just sitting on life-grip/rescue and I'm fine not using it--but tbh I only use it on my friend that I'm playing with because when I save anyone else with it, they immediately walk back into death after.

If your job is to hold the line and keep pushing, your ally basically making you lose that space forcefully feels horrible imagine if you were a DPS and one of your teammates can heal the target you were shooting at that's how it feels

Yeah but if they just stay there long enough to be healed then they will be fine. It's better to lose the space than lose the team fight tbh. If you lose your tank then it's a 50-50 you're gonne lose the team fight, especially if your DPS isn't pulling their weight. I have been pulled almost full health as a tank, and it's annoying, I'd rather be pulled half health than crit bc they can heal me to full health faster that way and I can reengage faster. So basically pull your tank at half health instead of waiting till they're crit, unless it's on cooldown ofc.

My feelings toward Lifeweaver's utility is that it's like... a reverse Moira. His utility is *too niche* and not really particularly desirable for any given team comp. That's why he was so bad on introduction, because his utility wasn't a strong selling point and his stats were shit.

I would be genuinely surprised if they couldn't just add that as well or remove the leave group feature when you join a game. if the matchmaking is already skewed when in a group the system should obviously be aware of groupings before and during the match. this would not be too hard of a fix either. but i doubt they really want to spend any resources to fix things like this

i got this lw who kept trolling, we lost first point because he refused to heal and gripped me out of my flux (he did this like 2 or 3 times and i would have got killing blows had he not). nothing to do with the character itself just the player behind it was real annoying. he went 0-0-8 at the end and was gloating about his toxicity lol. luckily it was qp and not comp

Moira isn't picked in pro play because none of her abilities strictly add to a team-synergy based win condition - nor does she actively deny an enemy win condition. She has formerly been picked for her mobility in 6 man dive when that was a thing, but outside of that she doesn't offer much synergetic utility or comp defining abilities. HOWEVER. In regular ranked ladder, team-based synergy is so undervalued due to lack of coordination, that individual hero/player contribution can have a far greater impact. Here, Moira is very great at threat-level worthy offensive pressure. She can force the enemy to react. Due to her mobility she can afford to flank, she can duel the enemy dps if need be, she can lob an orb on the enemy Ana and make her waste her nade on herself while losing focus on supporting her frontline - all while you are the one applying active pressure on her, potentially leading to a 5v4. And you still have solid base heals to fall back on should your offense not yield sufficient value. She is very adaptive and excels in single target pressure. That's why she IS viable in regular ranked play, all the way to GM if played competently. Because believe it or not, even in T500, compared to actual pro play -t500 is like a kindergarden full of egos that all wanna do their own thing at their own pace. And Moira can punish this. Even more so in OW2 than in OW1.

Hit a lot of the nail on the head there. I would make one addition that I think even for pro-play Moira has become stronger with the 5-hero comp because of the things you pointed you, because we've seen Moira pulled out multiple times this season when I don't think we've even glimpsed her since pre 2020 OWL until now, so even OWL finds her useful in SELECT situations. Very VERY select. Pretty sure she's still the least picked support in OWL, but the fact that she has seen play time at all makes us Moira mains giddier than it deserves.

As far as the DBD tiktok goes, I think an important thing to point out is the timing of DBD's announcements. ActiBlizz announced the project of Overwatch 2, when Ow2 barely had any of the meat on its bones. It feels like ActiBlizz proposed the IDEA of Ow2, had the devs create a little bit of gameplay to make sure it was in the realms of possibility, and then announced that to the public. Whereas Behaviour have been working behind the scenes on their own games for God only knows how long. During their anniversary live stream, Supermassive (one of the companies Behaviour is working with), did an interview and showcased how far along they were with their side of the projects. And honestly? Things seemed really well established and promising. The difference between these two companies, is that Behaviour made sure they had a product to deliver, before announcing it. ActiBlizz made sure they had an announcement to deliver, before a product.

To be fair, Baptise essentially has 3 health bars, kiriko can literally just decide to leave, and Ana can almost guarantee a divers death with sleep dart and another player. If you’re struggling with surviving, other supports can do the exact same as moira (surviving wise) AND provide their team with the same survivability/remove the other teams survivability. I would actually consider Moiras “utility” something like confirming finishing kills (Which is LITERALLY how the top 500/GM Morias play) considering she can get in and out of enemy backline insanely easy, never choke with aim, or honestly just throw damage orb into a group in a late teamfight and get free elims (which if we weren’t counting anti or counter ult suzus Id argue is just as impactful as other meta supports). But just note, as the video said you WILL get countered in high elo. You’re “utility” or at least how I see it is ENTIRELY countered by the other teams skill. Try to dive a 50 health masters zen who knows how to aim, and continues to discord 2 shot headshot you before you can drain his health.

I spent 10 hours playing ranked yesterday to try and climb back up to diamond and my rank didn't change at all. Starting off at Plat 2 and ending at plat 2 10 hours later feels like shit.

Give us this number that is within a range of each rank, say every couple thousand that directly correlates with your placement. While I like how overwatch teams can group up (mostly) regardless of skill rankings, but personally that should stay out of comp. A plat game should have between gold and diamond players. The dbd comparison is still kinda dumb. I came from dbd after 4 years and streamed it those years and dbd has scrapped so many things and been one of the most inconsistent games at bringing out new content they promised or mention. I’m not exactly expecting dbd to actually have a decent pve regardless of who’s working on it. It took them like 6 years to add in a UI that shows what teammates are doing lol. Big dbd content creators have left dbd recently and pve is not something anyone has asked for lol

Additional good tip from a support player: Dont shoot the supports. They have a passive which heals them, meaning that any damage on supports will be wasted. Focus on shooting the dps, except for when they play genji and sym, who can both either reflect or heal up the damage you deal. In that case, just dont shoot at all.

This is not a good tip. Hitting shots on supports is very important. Even if you don’t get the kill you can still make the supports back up, get distracted or distract the other support by making them heal.
