Why did you legally try to avoid tax by getting a better deal? People need to understand that just because socialists hate the rich doesnt mean they like the poor. There is a reason the wealthiest people in socialist countries are politicians and or their families i.e Venezuela and Zimbabwe. Mr Jones goes on about what specific law, the european search warrant is a good place to start. That flies in the face of the presumption of innocence, infact that was the law used to force a child who ran away from the NHS hospital to try and get treatment in span, that warrant was used to arrest the parents of the sick child. Lastly the point about the Eurozone is still valid as if we re join the EU there is no argument for not joining the Euro in the future and mr Jones knows this. Mr Jones why dont you tell us what would be the effect on the UK economy if we go back to the EU and there is another European financial crisis? Mohammed Idrees, a Labour councillor who represents Alum Rock in Birmingham, initially called for peace talks between protesting Muslim parents and a primary school supporting LGBT and equality. Last week, BirminghamLive reported how an angry group of parents protested outside Parkfield Community School - a school which runs a piloted curriculum based on No Outsiders. The programme is run alongside sex and relationship (SRE) lessons and has, in recent weeks, caused outrage among some Muslim parents - so much so that a handful decided to pull their children out from school until lessons are scrapped or drastically changed. On Saturday, Coun Idrees - a proud Muslim - revealed how he has been inundated with e-mails from furious parents who are against such teachings as homosexuality is strictly forbidden in Islam.

Referring to the part where Owen cornered Tim about 'Poverty wages'. I worked for Wetherspoon for three years on a Zero Hour Contract and ended up in more debt when I left. It gives companies like Wetherspoon the opportunity to outweigh its employees when comes to worker's rights. I'm amazed that the company is as huge as it is considering that behind the scenes, in your average Wethersoon's pub, is absolute chaos; food has to be out within ten minutes - timed and recorded. The amount of employees that come and go is phenomenal, managers will hire anyone regardless of their skills - with the clock running there is very little time to teach and train them, resulting in shoddy teamwork, poor time keeping and bonus losses. The worst part of working for Wetherspoons was the nepotism, usually within management, giving all of the hours and best shifts to their siblings. Tim Martin gives these so-called managers a pub business to play with and as long as they hit their targets - and everyone puts on an act when the auditor shows up once in a blue moon - he doesn't seem to give a toss! Tim Martin has built an Empire and become very rich on zero hours contracts while his employees struggle to make-ends-meat on less than the minimum wage - maybe if he payed more than minimum wage his customers would get more than minimum effort.

Owen, I’d be very grateful if I could ask you a couple of questions myself. I recently watched the BBC history documentary by Peter Hitchens - This Sceptic Isle (its on KZbin). I am therefore interested to know what are your views on this, as I understand you also studied history and interviewed Peter Hitchens. Obviously it is presented with a euro sceptic view, however, the facts are alarmingly accurate and I’m sure you would be outraged by the way the British public were kept in the dark on the EU’s intentions and how the EU has developed behind closed doors. Secondly, also in relation to history. I understand why remainers are rightly concerned about the uncertainty of leaving the EU, which is mainly for economic reasons rather than social. How can Remainers be so certain that the EU project will be a guaranteed success in the near future? I strongly believe in the notion that history has a habit of repeating itself. All great Empires have fallen, the obvious being the Roman Empire, which fell due to economic collapse and invasion. I am already sensing that the EU project is already starting to collapse due to change in public opinions and unrest across Europe. I feel it is only the elite and the large corporate companies that benefit from this club. However, I feel, the average man will have better opportunities to compete when governed within its own country on a smaller platform. Surely, as a man who advocates freedom and an end to poverty, a local approach to society is best for everyone. A person to person approach - is by far more successful than some unelected person/machine several hundred miles away. The majority of British people are suffering from this faceless elite, big corporates and global destruction. I love Europe, but lets protect our heritage, history, diversity, uniqueness and exciting cultures in each European country - not dissolve them into a Global Club that only serves the elite. I’d be grateful for your thoughts?

@willjdeanie6 жыл бұрын
He doesnt know because no one knows. Thats the entire point. That is why estimates vary so wildly. It's impossible to quantify how much of our legislation has EU influence. It's in everything, in his business, everything from the labelling on bottles, to the temperature of fridges, to the Times he can open and close, to the information he has to give in ads, where he can and cannot put fruit machines, how much they can pay out, what units of measurement he's allowed to use, how many of those units he can sell at one time, the legal contracts with his employees, every last bit of the brewing process from the beer he buys to the transportation of that beer to his pub , and every single aspect involved in selling it.... millions , literally millions of bits of legislation that have to be adhered to. And much of it written into our law to conform with EU regs. And all of it applies all the time. EU regulates everything internally, regardless of whether it's imported or exported. It's applied universally. Then when you realise that the lobby groups representing multi national companies and corporations are influencing much of the regulations in their own industries, sometimes literally writing their own legislation themselves which is stifling to smaller business that cannot afford the outlay to compete adhering to this stuff then u start to see the depth of the problem.
@nuttysquirrel85746 жыл бұрын
That's because nobody knows as they are all so entangled but, the bottom line is, just accept they are ALL made in brussels and we have to obey. We no longer make our own laws so, if we remain in eu we may as well abolish Parliament as what would politicians then do? Why remoaners want to stay inside a united states of europe where you have NO say in who is elected, NO say in what laws are made, NO mechanism to change the dictators in charge (if there are no public elections and the leaders elect themselves then, ergo, they are dictators) is totally incomprehensible to me. At least here we still have a meagre sense of democracy, although the remoaners are trying very hard to overthrow that, and if you don't like who is in charge you can at least change them every 5 years.

@bradleyriddell47456 жыл бұрын
Hounslow Parks: That point of view is a lie peddled by the very wealthy or the wannabe wealthy. It’s a vapid argument ignoring the main point which is why are wages so low? Why aren’t we, as a first world wealthy nation, paying a higher wage? Why does our government stand idly by & condone minimum wages? If there were more money in the pockets of the many the economy would speed up because people would spend more because they would have more. What the wealthy are saying is no! Keep the wealth in the hands of the few ie: us, otherwise people will rise above their station & then we’ll have chaos!!! Free market economic theory maintains power in the hands of the few despite its rhetorical use of the word “free” & the concept that alludes to. We’re about as free as a tethered animal indentured to a life of tedious labour but encouraged to be the pampered racehorse running free in a neighbouring field. The politics of envy & the enforced notion that we’re never good enough keeps us quiet, & constantly seeking relief from a miserable grey existence of never quite enough where the skies are always overcast & the sun hidden from our view. Meanwhile on the other side of the island the privileged enjoy their life of plenty & we ordered to be quiet & compliant by the likes of Tim Martin who’s arrogance extends to him “educating” his punters as to why they just don’t understand whilst his grossly underpaid bar staff serve them “soma”.

He's far right now ? ........ far right eh?..... hhmm....... this must be the most irritating thing about all of this. I say irritating, it's actually dangerous for some people , because what you're doing is creating a divisive , polarised and aggressive attitude by labelling , or smearing I should say, people you have a different political opinion to. You're creating this divisiveness with this casual use of these labels. you are literally imagining these racists , you're plucking them from your own imagination and willing them into existence. People are just utterly sick of it, because , sadly there are people who actually believe this now. It's been repeated so many times, that it's become the reality for some people, particularly many minorities, who might not understand that this isn't a reality , it's an invention of a hysterical, catastrophising left wing, ideologues who have lost a referendum and are now behaving in this utterly appalling manor as they simply can't accept it. If I was.living here from a different culture, perhaps not first language english, had not been here long and was yet to understand the lying hysterical nature of left wing identity politics, I would assume that people like you were telling the truth, and that half the country is intolerant, racist, extreme and fascistic. Either that or thick. Which is the other accusation banded around constantly. It would be a very scary place indeed. But its not true. The reality is that Britain, far from being a racist intolerant country, is actually one of the most tolerant, least prejudicial and xenophobic in the world right now. ..... or ever. This wholenarrative has been concocted. People are getting attacked because of these accusations, and other people are living in fear , thinking everyone must be a Nazi. I honestly fucking despair. If you think Tim Martin is far right, then honestly I can't imagine what you will do when one day you actually meet someone from the real far right. Thankfully they're in such tiny numbers they're actually an irrelevance, not that you would know it from listening to lies like you and Owen Jones spout. Have some self respect, stop lying, and get a grip. We made a decision , you don't Like it , but that's life, now we have a job to do , we have to make the transition as painless as possible , we have to all pull together and it's going to be difficult. There is going to be a financial collapse in europe very soon and its going to be very hard times. I just walked past my local Wetherspoons on my way to Sainsburys, it was full of young people. I very rarely visit one of their branches, I think maybe twice in the past five years. What i do not understand, as someone who wishes for us to stay in the EU, but pro material reforms, (as I think its in deep trouble, like we will be if we leave), is why Owen Jones, as quite a hard core socialist, wishes to remain, as the EU is pretty much run by the big company lobyists? The EU is not good for working class people, but is good for business, as they have effectively commoditised labour with their thirst for expansion. The reason that young people seem to like 'Spoons', is that its drink is served at prices they can just about afford, so they have to have cheap labour to meet the price points. You would think that Tim Martin would want to remain in the EU on that basis alone. In fact, logic suggests that they should switch positions, I find it very ironic.
